DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! The apartments are infesting with huge cockroaches, bed bugs and rats. They make promises they never keep. It is impossible to get a maintenance worker to come to your apartment. They show you renovated units that look nothing like the actual unit you will be moving into. They claim there is free laundry, a gym and a parcel pick up center on-site. NONE OF THESE AMENITIES EXIST. The "GYM" is a public park down the block, the "free" laundry is actually a pay-coin laundry where 1 in every 3 machines is broken and there are roaches roaming around the laundry room. The parcel room was closed months ago and no solution has been presented. The company only sends out exterminators from 9 to 5, so if you have a job you will never be able to get your apartment exterminated without taking a day off work, and if you do take that day off work THEY WON'T ACTUALLY SHOW UP, no matter how many times you call and check with maintenance, he will always be "on his way"! I complained of visible bed bugs in my building and NOTHING was done about it. I have hundreds of bites all over my body and have been forced to try and handle this issues myself because the management won't take responsibility of the units they lease. These people are SLUMLORDS and post fake pictures and promises on [redacted] to get you to sign the lease and take your money. What they don't tell you is that you are paying top $$$ to live in a former project and get treated like crap by the employees. It doesn't get much worse than these people. I can not WAIT until my year lease is up, that so I may find another apartment that is actually hospitable. These people obviously take advantage of the poor and undereducated or there would be more negative reviews on Revdex.com like there are on [redacted]

Review: [redacted] aka Renaissance Equity Holdings is consistently billing me for rent two (2) years after I have vacated their apartment. I have been a customer of this rental company but left their premises with no debt and no unpaid balance. However, this company kept on billing me rent and sued me in court for unpaid charges. I would like Revdex.com to contact them so they can review their database and verify that I have no rental agreement with then since I have left and have no lease contract renewal under my name with the said COMPANY.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop contacting me and associating me with a debt that I have not incurred and to remove my name from their lease contract.. Address of the apartment in litigation is [redacted]

Response:

Renaissance Equity Holdings, LLC is a Management company in Brooklyn, New York. Complainant entered into a 1 yr lease for a rent stabilized apartment located at [redacted] commencing 10/*/2010, signed 1 year lease renewal commencing 10/*/11 and another 1 year renewal commencing 10/[redacted]/12 and expiring 9/[redacted]/13. On January [redacted], 2013 Complainant sent a letter requesting [redacted], her roommate, to be added to her lease as a co-tenant. There is no letter of surrender or vacatur in the file and Complainant along with her roommate [redacted] remain the tenants of record. Complainant remained current with her rent through April 2013 at which point May 2013 and June 2013 were not paid. July and August 2013 rent were not paid in full. As such a non-pay housing proceeding was commenced Under Index [redacted]/2013 and [redacted]/2013. There was a stipulation entered into on October [redacted], 2013 under Index [redacted]/13 where [redacted] appeared and agreed there was an outstanding balance of $4796.20 and entered into an agreement to pay the money. As a co-tenant to the apartment [redacted] has the authority to enter into agreements regarding the subject apartment. [redacted] also noted that [redacted] did not appear and that she was not in the military or financially reliant on anyone in the military. There were no notes or any indication that [redacted] no longer resided in the apartment. A warrant of eviction was issued for both [redacted] and [redacted] and was stayed pursuant to the terms of the stipulation. The stipulation was defaulted on, the warrant of eviction was served and the [redacted] evicted on December **, 2013. There is currently over $5,000 owed on the subject apartment. On December **, 2013 [redacted] again appeared in court and made an agreement to remove the belongings from the subject apartment. Co mplainant alleges in her complaint that she vacated the apartment 2 years ago, however this does not coincide with the records. Complainant signed a lease renewal commencing 9/**/12 and the signature on the lease is consistent with all the other signatures in the file. She gave a notarized letter to the landlord on or about January **, 2013 asking to have her roommate added to her lease as a co-tenant. As such, as of earlier this year she was in the subject apartment and there is no surrender to indicate that she vacated after adding a co-tenant to her lease. Any of the aforementioned documents can be provided on request, further the housing proceeding is public record and can be confirmed with the court's files or computers. It is our belief that the statements made against our company are not truthful and we would like to resolve this matter ASAP.
