Rendon Homes Reviews (2)

The second owner of the home built back in 2007 initially reached out to us on 9/28/14 introducing herself and inquired about the home's 10 year structural warranty. I responded and provided the name of the insurance company and contact information.  Later, on 10/22/14, she emailed and...

requested a list of subcontractors to help in the resolution of her claim and again I provided her with that information.  On 11/24/14, I received another email from the owner requesting the Builder conduct a site visit. Again, we responded and the builder visited her home that same day and even personally spoke to the Home of Texas warranty resolution specialist in charge of the file to help the owner resolve her claim. On 11/25/14 the owner reached out and requested soil test and engineering report/inspections.  I have attached the documents that were sent. These particular documents were found in the home's file. When looking for additional paperwork, I stumbled across a foundation plan thought to be the one in question and set it aside to make a .pdf file to send to the owner.  Later, when I gave it to the Builder to take to the print shop, he brought to my attention that the foundation plan was for another Lot ** in another neighborhood. This was all clearly explained to the owner and that is when we began to search for the plan in question. In the meantime, we received the attached letter from HOME of TEXAS offering the owner a $18,680 cash settlement. After we exhausted all the possible locations we would have filedthe plan, we concluded that plan along with some others may have been misplaced during our relocation.  I emailed owner on 1/12/15 to let her know we didn't have any luck but would keep her posted if anything came up. She never responded to that email until 2/1/15 when she threatened to file a complaint to the Revdex.com. We have accommodated all of the owner’s request in a timely manner but as Rendon Homes has previously stated to the owner on several occasions, we cannot provide something we do not have.

Complaint: [redacted]
First, I would like to address Rendon Homes' claim that I threatened them in regards to filing this Revdex.com complaint.  As a courtesy, I e-mailed Rendon Homes on January 25, 2015 to inform them that I was filing the complaint and detailing my reasons for doing so.  In no way did I make threatening remarks to Rendon Homes, nor did I attempt to leverage the prospect of submitting a Revdex.com complaint to intimidate Rendon Homes.  The e-mail was merely a courteous notification to Rendon Homes that I intended to file this Revdex.com complaint.  Please see the attached e-mail for full details. This complaint has nothing to do with the settlement I received from HOME of Texas in order to repair my foundation.  If Rendon Homes advocated on my behalf to achieve resolution to my claim with HOME of Texas, I am tremendously grateful.  Ultimately, the obvious and extensive damage occurring in my foundation is what warranted the settlement.  My foundation is only 7 years old, and it is not performing as designed.  It is tilting and deflecting outside acceptable limits, causing cracks in the tiles, drywall, and exterior mortar.  This problem is not specific to me - there are at least eight other Rendon homes in my neighborhood experiencing similar foundation problems.  And when I asked Rendon Homes for documents to assist in the repairs to my failing foundation, Rendon Homes suddenly claims to have lost my paperwork.Consequently, this complaint is about Rendon Home’s inability to furnish my request for documents that pertain to my home.  Indeed, Rendon Homes initially provided me with two documents: one document certifying an inspection of my home’s post- pour foundation, as well as a list of the contractors associated with my home’s construction.  I am thankful that Rendon Homes gave me these documents; this is the kind of customer service homeowners should expect from an honest and reputable builder.  Unfortunately, these are not ALL of the documents I requested.  The post-poor inspection is merely a signature – it does not contain any schematics or engineering specifications to aid in the repair of my foundation.  It is absolutely reasonable to expect the builder of my home furnish documents pertaining to my home upon request, and yet Rendon Homes refuses to do so.   I find it peculiar that Rendon Homes cannot find my foundation paperwork after I inform them that my foundation is not performing in accordance with engineering standards.  Is the paperwork really lost, or is Rendon Homes simply refusing to provide it to me?  I find it unbelievable that Rendon Homes, a company which has been in business for thirty years, keeps such horrible records that they can find some paperwork for my home, but not others.  I have neighbors who have inquired to Rendon Homes about what paint color is on their walls, and Rendon Homes easily provides this information.  How is this cosmetic information readily available, but paperwork pertaining to the structural integrity of my home is mysteriously misplaced?  I still want the paperwork for my foundation.  Without this paperwork, Rendon Homes has not “accommodated all of the owner’s request,” as stated in their reply.  Whether Rendon Homes legitimately lost my home’s documents or (more likely) is withholding this paperwork due to my foundation damage, the public should be aware that this is the disgraceful customer service they will receive when dealing with Rendon Homes.  When their house begins to experience problems, Rendon Homes will conveniently be unable to locate any important paperwork necessary to address the issues.  This behavior towards customers is a deplorable way to run a business, and I am absolutely dissatisfied with Rendon Homes’ inability to find the documents for my home.
