my wife and I rented a property from Select, starting about the end of April, 2015. It looked good from photos, but we were told it would need, and be given a good cleaning before we moved in.Keep in mind, my mother and wife drove a [redacted] ALL THE WAY from [redacted]., and were told that the home was move in ready after 3 days of driving. I was supposed to fly in the day after we moved in to help unload the truck and such. We paid our move in deposits, and pet deposits, and then my wife arrived, she opened the door, and the place was A WRECK!The previous renter had allowed their dogs, and cats to pee ALL OVER the house. The kitchen, bedrooms, living rooms, dining room, bathrooms. The dog(s) they had, took...horse sized dumps all over the backyard. The toilet seats were either broken or missing.The Fridge had old [redacted], and mold growing in it.The carpet aside from the pet urine, was FILTHY.The gate on both sides of the house leading to the back yard were broken (not lockable/couldn't be closed.) The garage was FULL of trash, and old toilets. The fence had big enough holes in it we'd learn after the 1st night we woke up the neighbors aggressive dog was in our backyard. My wife called the property manager, and explained what we'd found. We were promised that they'd get things cleaned up and then we could move in.So we had to pay for hotels 2 nights out of our own pockets (it's been almost a month, they have not reimbursed us still. The cleaning crew showed up, and cleaned up the yard; however, DID NOT clean out the garage, remove the old toilets, or clean the carpets adequately. It's been a month, the house despite having a VERY mediocre "in house" carpet cleaner clean the carpets, still smells badly enough that no amount of scented candled, or glade plug ins, or nights with doors left open, can cover it.The property management despite the fact that we paid a pet deposit, and they knew we had dogs, ONLY repaired the gates, but left the actual fence unrepaired, and refused to.Desired SettlementI'd like our security and pet deposits returned in part, or in full. Especially seeing as how all the damage that we are paying deposits to insure against already exists from the prior tenant, and has not been repaired. I'd like our hotel stays paid for. I'd like ALL the damage fixed to the fences, the carpets professionally cleaned by a service company of OUR choice not the property managements, as theirs already tried and failed horribyBusiness Response We have inspected this property and met with the tenant. I believe this will be resolved, the repairs are being scheduled. We are working with both the tenant and owner of the property to resolve the carpet issue.I think this will be completed by the 15th of June with everybody satisfied Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)While the management reps have visited the home, no plan has yet been discussed, path forward, or method of compensation for costs incurred, money spent by us, or deposits paid as of yet. I do believe they are taking steps to make and execute a plan, but nothing has been submitted to us as tenants yet. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)AgreedFinal Business Response We will agree to have photo's added to tenants file and a statement of repairs they have completed to the fence to insure no changes at the time they vacate the property.I will have someone contact the tenant to schedule having the photos taken and a addendum stating the above. We don't want the tenant to feel that they will be charged for any damage to the fence from the time of the move-in to today.
