Reno Self Storage Reviews (1)

On April 15, 2013 I went to the Reno Self Storage Office at 3405 Mill St to make arrangements to park my car and small camping trailer for a week or two. I was checked in by the manager [redacted]. I prepaid $60 for the estimated 2 weeks of parking. My receipt shows that I paid for the period of April 15-30. [redacted] additionally had me sign a contract that would go into effect in the event that I did not return by April 30. On April 16 I flew from Reno to Omaha for an eye surgery. On April 22, I flew back to Reno and took a taxi direct to the Reno Self Storage lot. I called [redacted] the manager to have him check me out of the facility. [redacted] said that nothing was required for the check out. I asked him about the contract which requested a cancellation in writing. [redacted] said that since I had prepaid for the period of April 15-30, everything was taken care of and he would rip up the contract. [redacted] said that there was no need for a written cancellation and that our business was complete. Back in my home in [redacted], 8 months later in Dec of 2013 I was going through my Visa statements to prepare for taxes and discovered that Reno Self Storage had been putting a monthly charge into my VISA card. I called [redacted] the manager of Reno Self Storage and asked him about the charges and he said he would look into it. He asked that I send some kind of proof that he could show to the owner thatI had left on April 22. [redacted] also requested that I not contact VISA over this issue. I supplied [redacted] with indisputable proof that I had left on April 22. I was not comfortable with [redacted]'s request to not contact Visa and I did file a dispute over the 8 months of charges. Reno Self Storage eventually produced the contract that was supposed to have been destroyed and they claimed the 8 months of parking fees was legitimate and justified. From the beginning of this [redacted] new perfectly well that I departed on April 22 and that he said the contract was finished. The charges are fraudulent and Reno Self Storage is a very crooked operation. Beware!Product_Or_Service: ParkingOrder_Number: NAAccount_Number: NADesired SettlementComplete refund, damages as allowed by consumer protection laws and legal expenses in recovery of stolen funds.Business Response I have reviewed the complaint in its entirety. I have also read the notes in the file left by the previous manager for Reno Self Storage. Being the new property manager for this company, I can only depend what is put in front of me. I would like to discuss this further with the person filing the complaint if that is possible, in order to clarify his resolve with his credit card company and to review the process from beginning to end. Thank you. [redacted]; Property Manager [redacted] and Reno Self Storage.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)At this point Reno Self Storage has drug this matter out for over a year, and made me waste too much of my time, and eventually resort to organizations such as the Revdex.com and [redacted] Attorney General and [redacted] insurance. According to [redacted], the manager I dealt with, the owners of Reno Self Storage made the decision to fraudulently charge my VISA. I'm not sure how this can be explained away. Its not an a mistaken charge or an accounting error or a mix up. The people responsible have gone out of their way to steal money, knowing that the contract and charges were fraudulent. They knew exactly what they were doing. Knowing this, it is difficult for me to waste more time and energy on the matter. My insurance company will probably cover the cost of the credit card fraud and hopefully they will additionally make Reno Self Storage repay them for the claim. My main motivation in getting the Revdex.com & [redacted] Consumer Protection Agency involved was to protect other consumers from crooks. That said, sure if [redacted] would like to talk about this, I will give it one more try. How do I contact Mr.[redacted]?Final Business Response I would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to speak with [redacted]. He may contact me at our business office in Reno in person, or by phone. I am in the office M-S 9-5 daily. [redacted] Thank you.[redacted] - Property Manager Reno Self StorageConsumer Response I spoke with the new manager at Reno Self Storage who after going through the complaint with the owners has agreed to refund the money that the former manager made off with. So this complaint would appear to be resolved.
