Rent-A-Space Reviews (1)
My complaint is a combination of Customer Service and Contract, but the contract violation was more serious. In my initial phone call, I asked generally what kind of security measures my money was going to pay for, because I wanted to compare my options amongst other storage facilities. I was very rudely told that even such basic information is not given out, and promptly was hung up on.After my mother called an set up an appointment with me, I was able to secure a storage unit with a signed contract. This contract included my contact information expressly for the purposes of calling me in the event of an issue, and also stipulated a late free for rent not paid on the first of each month.Due to my mother and I each thinking the other was sending in the payment, my 2nd month's rent was not paid on time. When I arrive to pay it later in that month, prepared to be charged a late fee, I was instead told that my unit had been sold to someone else, without any notification to me. No where in the contract was it stated that this could occur, and the inclusion of a late fee clause to me suggests exactly the contrary. In addition, they held a $70 security deposit (compared to my $60/month rent). When I expressed my disbelief at this, I was told to leave the property and that if I were to be seen again they would phone the police on me, as though I were the one in the wrong for expressing a complaint.
