The tenant moved in to the unit in July The tenant had not reported any issues with bed bugs to the office until December After informing the tenant that since there were no complaints for bed bugs for the first six months she lived, obviously they were not there when she moved so treatment would be her responsibility After that point, nothing was heard from the tenant until February We then had the entire section of seven units checked for bed bugs by a reputable company in town and then paid for by the property owners They did not find any bed bugs in any of the apartment units, including in the unit where the tenant was complaining At this point she contacted the city inspector, who also conducted an inspection and did not find any live bed bugs or any evidence of traffic in the unit During no time were live bed bugs or evidence of traffic found by any inspector, either city or pest.On August 3, the tenant turned in the required day written intent to vacate, which includes the date that the tenant must be out of the unit, filled out by the tenant It states the date she agreed to leave as August 30, Attached is the copy of the lease where it states that bed bugs brought into the unit are the responsibility of the tenant, the inspection from the pest control company, along with the intent to vacate (completed and signed by the tenant).Based on our policy, the tenant will not be reimbursed the last month’s rent or furniture costs due the fact that there was no proof that there were ever bed bugs in her unit

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/07/28) */
There is no validity here at all. They made these allegations about our company. When they came in and wanted to meet with us, their reason was that someone knocked on their door and wasn't there when they answered, so wanted to move out. ...

That is how this all started. They thought these were attempted break-ins. I don't believe they ever filed police reports for these issues. At some point some mail was taken, but I can't control someone's mail getting stolen one time. I believe they did file a police report for this one incident. We have alarm systems on our buildings per the tenants' requests. We have 500+ units in Cape and one of the best reputations. We help regulate and help the city check that the city residences are safe for tenants: for example, home temperatures, no sewage, etc. There are four companies I am a common owner of for various reasons. We had rapid growth between the four, so in January we decided to merge all four under the name Rent SEMO. It was made to prevent any confusion of our companies. We tried to reach out to these guys and try to get them to come in and communicate with us and they would not. We tried to talk to them about their accusations but they just had their minds made up when they made their first complaint. Next thing I know, they're posting negative comments. I'm fine having negative posts if they are true and give specific details. Their posts make no sense and have no validity. They won't own up to their negative comments and are just hiding behind email addresses and phone numbers.
