March 21st, 2014 for the refund [redacted] requested we send to his partner.
[redacted] cancelled his website with us in late 2013. On March 10th, he complained that he was still 
being billed for part of the service so we issued a refund $63.80 as he requested.
On March 24th he asked us to help him move his website to another hosting provider. We responded 
and told him his website had been cancelled per his request in Dec 2013. The site was canceled and 
taken offline but he may have seen cached version of the site in his browser, making him believe it 
was still live, but it had in fact been deleted at his request.
We can restore the site from back up for a cost of $500. It's easy to delete a site, but it's much 
harder to restore a site from back up, and that's why we charge the fee.
We would be more than happy to restore his site and help him transfer it, but we need to be fairly 
compensated for our services.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
As can clearly be seen from the response from [redacted] at RentalAvenue, we asked for the Book it Now (RentalAvenue's booking system) and the NMI account (Payment Processing) to be cancelled.  We did not request for them to suspend our website which we paid them to create.  We paid $49 per month for over 3 years, we do not object to paying for services provided.  We do object to a business shutting down a website without being requested to and effectively requesting a ransom to release the website.  We are not technologically skilled people which is why we chose to contract with someone like Rentalavenue and we were never made aware that they were going to shut down our website until we decided to transfe the hosting.  Our website was operating on several computers and mobile devices right up until [redacted] was informed of our desire to transfer the hosting, quite a coincidence!

Review: We contracted with rentalavenue.com to have them provide us with a reservation management system for a rental property. We paid them $49 a month for a little over 3 years to provide their service. In addition, we paid them $500 to develop a website. The site was about a month later than promised, but was finally delivered. We decided to use a different reservation management system and asked that they cancel our service and the associated credit card processing. I was told they would cancel their "Book it Now" service and NMI credit card processing. This never happened in spite of several reminders sent to them so we were charged for a couple extra months of credit card processing in spite of not using the service at all in 2014. I have been told the check is in the mail. Our experience with Rental Avenue has been abysmal from the standpoint of promises and lack of service. We sent a message that we wanted to transfer our hosting to another provider, but [redacted] the founder of the company said the hosting and thus our website was already suspended and archived, which was a complete lie as the site was still active. The next day our website was shut down and he demanded $500 to restore the site. I voiced my displeasure with Troy regarding the service we had received and I believe this is his retaliation for cancelling our service. It took no time for him to shut off our website, it is hard to imagine it would be a monumental task to turn it back on.Desired Settlement: I would like rentalavenue.com to restore our website and provide us with the necessary information to transfer our hosting to another provider. Simply what any professional business would do.
