Rentschler Corporation Reviews (1)

Dear Revdex.com and *** ***,My name is Greg R***, Co-Owner and Sales Manager of Rentschler DealershipsMike C*** our service manager and are the most familiar with the situation*** *** was in for an Electronic Throttle Control issue which ending up needing a
PCM (powertrain control module) to fix itHis car is a *** ***My service manager was involved in some of the road testing to verify the customers concernMike was also the one who experienced the not shifting out of parkHe was taking the car out to road test it after some diagnostics performed to see if we could replicate the loss of power and throttle light, Mike sat in the car started it up and was unable to take it out of parkWe had our technician Randy look at it to find a plastic piece that controls the shift interlock broken, looking further into it with the technician, you could see the piece was partially cracked beforeWe have seen this before in different models, we have vehicles towed here periodically for this concern, and sometimes these repairs are covered under warranty or extended service contracts, Sometimes they are customer pay repairsUnfortunately the parts are plastic and years old.Anytime when we do work on a customer vehicle and we are at fault of doing something to a customer's vehicle, we do not hesitate to take care of that repair, regardless of the costIn this case we do not see that, especially when we see this happen to other vehicles of the same make and modelEven though it is an unexpected issue, fortunately it happened here and not when he could've been stranded on the roadThe customer was informed of his bill and told that we would be replacing the shifter and he knew what the costs were.Furthermore while the customer vehicle was here for about a week total he decided to stop into the sales department and talk about trading his *** *** onto a much newer modelI always take a full walk around on a vehicle and pull a *** to find out the historyThe vehicle was in a prior accident and it had a list of issues in *** dealer-connect at other dealershipsSo it seemed like a problem vehicle to meI've appraised thousands of cars and the car also wasn't purchased hereThere was terrible paint runs on the front bumper from being painted poorlyThe customer said to our sales person because he owes significantly more than the car is worth “I am thinking about just letting the car go back to the bank" which is known as a repossessionI always write that down because I would never let one of our employees suggest that to a customerHe further told our sales person that he's had nothing but problems with the car and just wanted to get out of itBecause of his negative equity (over $7,000) he decided against trading it because he had no down payment and needed money to pay for his daughter's college tuitionWe had offered to pay his ENTIRE bill if he had bought a car from us including the PCMWe even held a car in stock for days. The shifter repair was approximately $as Randy is stating and we did take $off the repair because we felt bad for him and the situation of the car he hadSo we only charged him $for a $330+ repairAfter learned more about the situation I was willing to cover the rest of the cost of the shifter parts out of my sales department pockets because the remaining $that we didn't cover wasn't worth arguing about in my opinionHe cursed and threatened us and wouldn't talk to me on the phoneHe would only send me nasty e-mailsAfter that there was nothing could do to help him or the situation.I have attached the *** showing the prior accident to the vehicleAlso attached my salesperson's notes showing he was considering having it repo’dWe have been in business for nearly years and we have built our business on integrity and honestyAgain, reached out to the customer and just got nasty e-mails backwas willing to refund the shifter costs entirely but after the extremely rude e-mails back that have been threatening to us we stopped pursuing himOur service department from my technician's, to service advisor, and service manager are all adamant they did nothing wrongEven so we were willing to make it right and help the customerMy service advisor knows this person outside of work and claims he has bi-polar tendencies and isn't surprised he is acting like this.Any questions please call me at ###-###-#### and I would hope you can understand why we wish the letter not be published on our behalfWe have out of rating on *** with over reviews.Sincerely,Greg R
