In late September Mrs*** did contact Res-Q servicesIt seems two years ago she had a year old, used furnace installed into a rental property she managedThis installation was apparently performed by a gentleman with the same last name as mine As owner/operator of Res-Q Service I
tried to explain that we were not the same identity as this individual and an $service call would be required to come assess her dilemmaMrs *** was very belligerent and would not accept this as an answer as she threatened to call Revdex.com, the County offices of KCK, and the city's office, and to sue As I continued to try and explain that she had the wrong company Mrs *** explained that she had a tenant who lived in this house that was just trying to get out of paying rent and startied calling the city and County's office making "bogess" claimsShe then explained how an "unfair and ridiculous" inspector came out and was "picking on her" because of all the phone calls the tenant had made She explained that the house was condemned due to improper installation of the furnace which had no furnace door on the burner compartment, and a furnace door was used to cover a hole in the return, "which the inspector says is against code." and the furnace was not drafting properly.Ultimately as she continued to explain how victimized she was, I agreed to perform a complimentary service call to the property and offered to address the issues if they were a quick fixShe asked if I would also stop by another property and give her a quote to install a condensing unit that she already paid a contractor to install and "he never showed back up", and she had "another contractor steal the condenser" I stopped into the property that had been condemnedI advised her that there was indeed a furnace door covering a hole to the return air, a door would need to be fabricated for the furnace, and I found that the furnace itself does seem to be drafting as it has a combustion blower motor on itI quoted her on the repair of the ductwork and doorShe felt it should be a free service by us as I am the brother of the original installerI went through this whole discussion again with her and explained when she was ready to develop a working relationship with Res-Q she could call us back.On October 2nd Mrs*** called back and said she had other bids which really seemed high and wanted to know what we would charge to install a chimney liner, fabricate a furnace door, and patch the return air with sheet-metal In lieu of all her problems we quoted her a discounted rate of $She also asked if we would install a used condensing unit (supplied by her) along with a new a-coil (supplied by us) at another property for a total of $ Mrs *** wanted all these services performed the next day on Friday October 3rd, as she explained she "has tenants that needed to move in." (Heavy thunderstorms started on Friday and cleared for a brief time on saturday) Due to Mrs***s prior perception and understanding of who the responsible parties were and my lack of confidence that she would be responsible enough to pay the bill upon completion, we DID request a deposit, at which time she just agreed to cover the entire bill in one payment.Res-Q performed ALL the agreed services by Saturday October 3rd, except the chimney liner due to extremely heavy thunderstorms which did not stop until Monday October 6th late in the dayMrs *** called complaining that this was completely 'unacceptable" (even though the chimney liner had to be installed from the roof) Res-Q had already set aside many other clients and placed two men on THIS job due to the amount of apparent stress Mrs*** was under (we are only a man shop), we also paid these two guys over time pay to try and complete the jobs over the weekendUltimately the work in which Mrs*** hired Res-Q to perform was all completed by Tuesday october 7th.I heard from Mrs *** on October 13th as she seemed very distressed that the inspector would not inspect the property until a "permit was pulled"I explained to her that I had never seen a municipality require a permit to be pulled for installing a chinmney liner, patching a return, and making a furnace door, and that it seemed as though "something is missing". The majority of our communication took place through the following string of emails from this point on

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
First and foremost, be advised a restraining order is being pursued against *** for personal threats of injury and harm to me and my propertyAfter receiving my complaint through the Revdex.com *** called to threaten me over the phone saying, "I don't live far from you, I know where you are and I know what you ownYou'd be surprised the kind of harm I could do and you'd never be able to prove it was me." These threats were completely unmerited over an $repair***'s voice was raised and yelling because I had reported him to the Revdex.com,Almost all of ***'s statements in his response are complete fabricationsThe person with the same last name that he refers to but doesn't know is his brother ***He gives *** used equipment from his jobs and *** installs it without a warranty or permit*** said he gets many calls about his brothers work and yet he still gives *** his used equipmentThen when that work gets inspected, *** refers the customer to his brother for more unlicensed and unpermitted work as I found out the hard wayAnother statement is he charges a service fee to provide a quoteThat's completely falseHe is not permitted and he his work did not meet codeThe county inspector, *** ***, told *** he was in violation of county codes for doing work without a permit, without a license and without an approved scope of work*** has been warned but yet he refuses to honor the county inspector's requestI have not disputed the charges on Visa in hopes that *** would respond favorably to Revdex.com but as his usual style, he rambled with statements and accusations that avoid the simple truthHe's not licensed in Wyandotte county and can't do work in that countyHe should have been honest with me from the beginningHad I known he wasn't licensed or bonded I would have never hired him to work with the countyThere's also the other glaring truth that he's threatened me and my property physically.I've contacted the Sheriff's departments in Clay County, Wyandotte County and Leavenworth County to file restraining orders and request patrol increases for suspicious behavior around my propertyFortunately, I also have security cameras that will catch pictures of him is he ever threatens me or my property again,I requested a refundHe made no offer to refund or reduce the repair billHe admits the work was not done to code and demanded I allow him back on the property to correct it and charge me more money to correct his mistakeI certainly won't allow him access to the property since he's unlicensed and I won't pay him more money to fix his mistake.Every consumer should be aware that this business is unethical, unlicensed and will threaten you if you refuse to pay more money to have bad repairs fixed

Review: In late September 2014 I talked to [redacted] about doing HVAC repairs at a house I own in Kansas City, KS. Before requesting a bid I asked [redacted] if he was licensed and bonded to do HVAC work and I explained the critical nature and involvement of the Wyandotte County Unified Governments inspectors in ordering the HVAC repairs. [redacted] assured me he was licensed and bonded. I explained to him the county did not give me a scope of work but instead told me the repairs required will be obvious to a qualified HVAC tech. [redacted]'s bid included replacing a missing furnace door, repairing an unsealed cold air return to the furnace and installing a new chimney liner for the flue. [redacted] demanded payment in full upfront before scheduling the work. He was paid in full on October 2, 2014. [redacted] claimed he completed on October 7, 2014. In reality, the furnace door was never replaced, the cold air return was never sealed and the existing duct flue that he re-routed to tie into the chimney liner was not installed to code. The pitch of the flue is downhill which allows harmful CO gas to backdraft into the house. The pitch of the flue needs to be 1/2" per foot for proper draft. The reverse slope is a hazard. [redacted] was paid for work that wasn't performed and the work that was performed was done illegally without a permit. An inspector with Wyandotte County talked to [redacted] and explained an approved scope of work was required for a permit. [redacted] admitted to me later that he's not licensed and bonded to do the work and he would have to pay the county for a license. The work [redacted] performed was un-permitted and has to be torn down and corrected because it wasn't to code. I'm demanding a full refund.Desired Settlement: $800 refund.

Response:

In late September Mrs. [redacted] did contact Res-Q services. It seems two years ago she had a 20 year old, used furnace installed into a rental property she managed. This installation was apparently performed by a gentleman with the same last name as mine. As owner/operator of Res-Q Service I tried to explain that we were not the same identity as this individual and an $85 service call would be required to come assess her dilemma. Mrs [redacted] was very belligerent and would not accept this as an answer as she threatened to call Revdex.com, the County offices of KCK, and the city's office, and to sue. As I continued to try and explain that she had the wrong company Mrs [redacted] explained that she had a tenant who lived in this house that was just trying to get out of paying rent and startied calling the city and County's office making "bogess" claims. She then explained how an "unfair and ridiculous" inspector came out and was "picking on her" because of all the phone calls the tenant had made. She explained that the house was condemned due to improper installation of the furnace which had no furnace door on the burner compartment, and a furnace door was used to cover a hole in the return, "which the inspector says is against code." and the furnace was not drafting properly.
