** *** CAME IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME ON 10-13-WHEN HE CAME IN THE REQUEST WAS TO REPLACE THE HARMONIC BALANCERTHE BALANCER THAT WAS ON THE CAR WAS ALREADY LOOSE AND SEPERATING AND COMMING OFF THE ENGINEWE PERFORMED THE HARMONIC BALANCER REPLACEMENT AND AS PER HIS
REQUEST WE ALSO REPLACED THE AIR CONDITIONING BELT AND TRENSIONER THAT THE CUSTOMER SUPPLIED ALONG WITH THE TORQUE TUBE ASSEMBLY THAT HE ALSO SUPPLIED AND A EVAP VENT SOLINOID THAT HE SUPPLIEDWHEN HE CAME IN HE STATED THAT HE PURCHACED THE VEHICLE USED RECENTLY AND THIS IS THE REPAIRS THAT WERE NEEDED TO THE VEHICLETHE VEHICLE HAD 142,MILESTHE TECHNICIAN THAT PERFORMED THE REPAIRS ON THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WITH US FOR PLUS YEARSWE HAVE REPLACED THSES BALANCERS ON OTHER TYPE OF VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ENGINE MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THEM. ON 10-24-WE RECIEVED A CALL FROM ** *** THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK DOWN THE SHORE AND THE BALANCER HAD COME LOOSE.THE VEHICLE HAD 143,MILES AND WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CHECKED THE VEHICLE OUTTHE BOLT THAT GOES INTO THE CRANKSHAFT BACKED OUT AND THE BALANCER WAS SLIPPING ON THE CRANK SHAFT, WE COVERED THE COST OF THE TOW AND THE REPAIRS AS PER GM PARTS WARRANTY, AT THAT TIME WE EXPLAINED TO THE CUSTOMER THAT THERE COULD BE FURTHER ISSUES WITH THE CRANKSHAFT AND THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE INITIAL CAUSE OF THE FIRST BALANCER FAILUREON 11-16-** *** CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND STATED THAT THE BALANCER BOLT HAD COME LOOSE AGAIN AND WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIPUPON INSPECTION THE BOLT HAD BACKED OUT OF THE CRANKSHAFT AGAIN AND WE EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT AS PER OUR DISUSSION LAST TIME HE WAS THERE THAT WE WOULD LOOKING FURTHER INTO THE ISSUE WITH THE BOLT BACKING OUTHE HAD STATED TO ME THAT HE HAD GONE ON LINE AND LOOKED IN THE CORVETTE FORUMS AND FOUND THAT THIS HAPPENS ALOT IN THE HIGH MILAGE AND HARD DRIVEN CORVETTESI ALSO EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT WE ALSO LOOKED FURTHER INTO IT AND THERE IS A DOWL KIT THAT CAN BE DRILLED INTO THE CRANK TO HOLD THE BOLT AND BALANCER IN PLACE HE HAD ALSO STATED THAT HE ALSO SAW THE SAME REMEDYTHE LAST I SPOKE TO HIM HE WAS GOING TO LOOK AND SEE IF HE COULD GET A KIT TO PERFORM THE REPAIRHE ALSO ASKED ME IF THE DEALERSHIP IS GOING TO COVER THE COST, I TOLD HIM THAT WE WOULD NOT BE COVERING THE COST AND HE DID CALL GENERAL MOTORS TO SEE IF HE COULD GET ASSISTANCE FROM THEM, THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS TOO OLD AND HAS TOO MANY MILES TO CONCIDER ANY ASSISTANCE ON THE REPAIRSI DID OFFER TO ** *** THAT IF HE PURCHACED THE KIT TO REPAIR OUR FACILITY WOULD INSTALL THE BALANCER PIN KIT AT NO CHARGE TO HIMLAST I SPOKE WITH HIM HE TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD LOOK INTO THE KIT AND CONTACT MEI HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM AS OF YETIF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT *** ANTHONY C***

I am rejecting this response because:
The information contained in the response is inaccurate,
untrue and/or irrelevant and no acceptable solution was offered. What is at issue is the harmonic balancer was
not replaced per the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) issued by GM (TSB
05-06-01-001A) and the improper repair may have caused damage to the engine. As far as the response from the dealer; the
balancer was not loose, separating or coming off, it had a slight wobble. This has nothing to do with the age or mileage
on the car, it is a known design issue, there was a recall by GM for the first
11,Corvettes for this issue. If
the TSB is not followed the exact scenario that happened to my car happens. While the technician may be experienced not
following the TSB is the issue not his/her experience. Also I was told by Anthony that the same
technician has had to perform the balancer replacement up to times on the same
police car due to the same issue occurring as on my car, again the TSB is
likely not being followed. I was at no
point ever told there could be an issue with this repair being done that it may
cause future issues, if I had been told that before the initial repair I would
have gone elsewhere. I was told the
dealer does this repair all the time as the police cars have the same issue and
are completed at this dealership. I’ve
had the car for several years, I bought it from the original owner who is now
years of age, to imply that the car was in anyway driven hard or the issue
is due to high mileage is untrue and merely an attempt by Callaremi to deflect
their negligence. This is a known
corvette issue as stated earlier due to poor design, there was a recall on
earlier serial number cars and the TSB must be followed to repair the issue
correctly. I did contact GM to try to
help mitigate this issue, unfortunately I was told GM’s policy is to only
intervene on dealer customer issues if the car is less than years old or has
less than 100,miles on it. GM also
stated it was clear to them that “the dealer had clearly not repaired the car
properly” after speaking to Don at Callaremi about this issue. GM also encouraged me to speak to the
Customer Experience Manager at the dealer which I was told was Anthony C*** which
I did. Anthony showed me a picture of a
kit they had found that a friend had referred them to on the Corvette
Forum. Anthony couldn’t produce any
information on the kit but did offer for me to procure the unknown kit and
Callaremi would install it. Anthony stated
he’d get me the information the kit and some other options we discussed but
never did. It was made clear to me if
there were any issues with parts I purchased Callaremi would not in any way
support repair of the issue which is a major concern. Also I should not have to pay for the same
repair which was not done per the TSB more than once
I’d simply like to have my car repaired properly or to be
compensated for the loss of my vehicle.
