Review: On Tuesday Feb 26 in the early hours our furnace stopped working. We have a homeowners warranty policy with a third party coverage. We called them at 7:00AM and they recommended Residential Services Inc, [redacted]. At 7:40AM on Tuesday, RSI called and and were given the make/model of the unit (Carrier) and made an appointment to come over. They arrived at 9:30AM and within 30 minutes determined the furnace would need a new blower motor. This was covered under the warranty less my $100 deductible. The technician said I also needed a master on/off switch which I have never had on this furnace which is 20 years old. He told me the office would call me later in the early AM with an estimated time they could get the replacement blower motor. After no call back by 3:15 PM, I called RSI and got only their recording. Called at 3:40 same thing. Called at 4:05 and finally got a guy named [redacted]. He said they were still working on it and would call back. He did so at 5:30 PM and said they could have the part first thing in the morning and make the repair by 9:30AM BUT that I HAD to agree to have the switch installed at an additional $140 out of my pocket. I explained that a new AC complete unit had been installed 15 months ago, fully inspected and permitted and no one had asked for this on/off switch. We also have a yearly maintenance contract on this furnace with another company and no one has said their is a need for the switch. My house is for sale and a with a pending contract. 7 days ago the buyers licensed inspector assessed the house and nothing was said about the need for a switch. I argued with [redacted] and I asked him to make a note on the paperwork that this switch was recommended and owner refused to install. He would not do that as well. So basically I told him that he was holding me hostage for the blower motor unless I agreed to the +$140. He said he would not make the blower motor repair. As our house was about 47 degrees I had no choice but to agree. Very unprofessional.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of the $140 as it was a repair not wanted nor required but simply added on to pad the billing. By waiting to call me back at 5:30 PM when their technician left my property at 10:00AM knowing what was needed, [redacted] deliberately gave me few options as most other companies were closed by that time. I consider RSI HVAC very unprofessional in the manner they have conducted this entire issue.I will strongly recommend to my home warranty company RSI be no longer recommended.
