Restoration Hardwood of New Albany Reviews (%countItem)

We hired this company to do our deck, we were promised it would be complete in 3-4 days plus an additional 2 days for our pergola. The frame of the deck is not straight, the railings are all uneven, they did not nail the pergola boards so most of the boards were just resting on each other. Paid them before deck was complete, they were suppose to bring toppers for the post, still waiting for them. Put a deck board in front of our exhaust pipe, blocking ventilation . Gas smell was in my house for 2 weeks, had to call the gas company and another company to come out and reroute the exhaust pipe. Had to pay additional money on top of what we paid for the deck. Every time we try to contact them to finish what was promised excuse after excuse. Unprofessional, lied about being insured and bonded. Now we are being harassed because we put up a complaint.

The primary agent of the business Tony G started a residential project on my personal property. Mr. G lied about securing a construction permit with the city of Columbus, provided us with an expired Liability Insurance document, and abandoned the project after collecting fees for the project.

There were no inspections performed throughout any stage of the project. He has not been on-site to work for the past 4 days and is no longer responding to phone calls or text messages.

To whom it may concern.

These people have received EVERYTHING we agreed on, deck is finished (see pics for details) and UPS delivered their fence panels so there is proof of that as well.

This whole arrangement went south last week when we ran into some bad weather, and UPS delivered everything but one of the panels and the connectors. I will ad that it didn’t help when setting their fence posts their cable line was only buried 1.5 inches under the ground and we hit it. See pic for proof.

I was told not to step foot on their property or they would consider it trespassing and call the authorities. In closing, their deck is complete, their fence posts are set, and their fence panels are in their garage. I owe them around *** I’m guessing which is what the labor would cost to put fence panels up.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

The deck is incomplete, unsafe and
is of the poorest quality. We were sold
a product that we did not receive. In
addition to the money owed to us for the missing fence material, ***, we
have also had to pay an additional *** to have the work that was completed
by Mr. G corrected and brought up to code for safety. We also must hire and pay for the fence to be
installed.Mr. G misrepresented himself
and his company as it relates to their skills, knowledge and expertise with
deck building and fence installation. He
lied to us about his skill set and provided us with expired proof of insurance
for his company. As a professional, I
would assume that Mr. G would have secured a credit account with Home
Depot to cover unexpected material costs instead of asking his customers for
additional funds. If the project was
planned properly, the initial deposit would have covered all costs (material
and labor) related to this project. To come to a resolution, we need to
be reimbursed for the missing fence material, ***, and refunded a portion
of the amount that is has cost us to hire another contractor to correct Mr.
G*** work and bring it to code so it is safe.

I found Restoration Hardwood through ***. I reached out on a Saturday, and they came out the following Sunday. I was moving out of my apt and needed to repair approx 11 holes in the drywall (from hanging shelving).

When the contractor arrived, he realized the holes were bigger than he anticipated, and he recommended that I get them painted over as they would need multiple coats to be completed. I agreed with his recommendation. He left at about 9:22, and said he would be back by 12:30. Before leaving, at about 9:46, he requested that I pay him for labor and the painting materials. I originally was quoted $120. He requested $165 at this point.

I texted him at 1:00 and 1:28 for an update. He texted back at 1:30 apologizing for the delay and stating that he may have bit off more than he could chew, and that he had already purchased my paint, and asked if I could do tomorrow because he didn’t think he’d be able to make it back that day.

He asked if I could do tomorrow, I stated that I need to be leaving by 3-4, and asked him to refund me for my paint. He agreed. I asked when I could expect the refund, he said by 5.

We then had a debate about the condition of the repairs (after it dried, some holes were still slightly visible). The resolution of the debate was simply that he would refund me the amount I paid for paint, as previously discussed.

Texted 8 times between 6:56pm on Sunday and 8:04pm Monday, asking for updates. At 8:12pm, I messaged the company page on FB.

At 10:34pm, he replied by stating “Man first of all, howd I know the minute I met you that you’d be the whiney one.” He complained about coming out on a Sunday, the size of the holes, claiming they were massive (none were larger than an inch in diameter). He complained about the fact that I was pursuing him though it was ‘only’ $45. He theorized that my intent the entire time was ‘to get into some st’. He also said ‘I think you want something to whine about, to be heard’.

I can provide screenshots if necessary.

It says you never received a reply fromMe? That’s not accurate at all. I emailed you guys back almost immediately. Am I understanding this correctly? Please adviseTony G

Message from business 3.17.2020Thank you for reaching out to me regarding *** now formal complaint. I most certainly would like to tell you the other side of this, as there most certainly is. *** is correct with one thing, and one thing only. He contacted me on Saturday and within 12 hours I was at his front door ready to fix these “holes”. Attached you will find the pictures he sent me originally which the naked eye would deem them to be rather small, some scraping then mud and all would be good. Where it gets tricky is after he took the pics he removed the anchors from the wall which made the holes gaping! When I saw this I told him one coat isn’t going to suffice, that it would require an additional coat of mud to be done correctly. I told him I’d still do what we agreed upon, but I also offered to paint them for him for an additional $90. He accepted. When I was done with my original job I requested to be paid in full since that was our agreement, and if he wanted me to come back he would have to pay for the paint (which was $45). So he gave me what we originally agreed on, plus $45 to pay for the paint. I took a sample of his paint from his wall behind the refrigerator, then had paint tinted to match his walls. As the day progressed I messaged him to let him know I was running behind, which happens. This is when I found out that he was leaving for good and a later time wouldn’t work. I agreed against my better judgement to refund his $45 once I returned the paint. Well I went to return the paint and they wouldn’t take it because it had been tinted. How is that my fault? I am willing to meet halfway in that we should of been a little more clear, but now I’m stuck with a gallon of paint that’s been tinted. *** has been harassing me with over 20 messages for his $45 dollars back, when all along the issue is he didn’t tell me he was leaving for good. Things happen literally everyday to people where they are running behind. Had I known the window was so short I would of never agreed to come back. Matter of fact, I wish I never said anything. I refuse to refund this bully back his money now, and I hope that the Revdex.com stands behind me as an entrepreneur just trying to make a living. This is a very hard world we live in. Margins are so minimal. I’m sure I have 7-10 dollars in gas going to get his paint. *** knows he didn’t tell me that the window was so narrow. I believe he Just wants to start trouble. Please let me know where to go from here. Best regards,Tony G

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: I have not been bullying this man. I have consistently communicated in an attempt to have him to do what’s right. To break this matter down to its simplest terms, I paid for paint that was not used in my apartment. That is what it ultimately boils down to. That money should be refunded.
