Review: 1) Painted the inside of my yellow Mustang trunk lid the wrong color, I paid for the paint work done and then I brought it back to be repainted which after the car was there for a week it never got done. I never got a refund. Job cost $200

2) Repair of Ford truck - truck was at shop for over two years. Paid half of the $2000 estimated cost to get truck back on the road - Repair bent frame and replace core support and fender to get truck back on road. Paid $1000 for frame work done. Begged and pleaded with them to finish the job. Calls were rarely returned. After 2 years we have truck towed out of shop to get fixed at another shop. New shop tells us the frame is still bent very badly. We are out $1000.Desired Settlement: Refund of $1200

Response:

Hello [redacted],

I'm so sorry to be this long in responding. Here is the situation:

**. [redacted] had her classic Mustang painted here. We did a lot of extra work for no charge. She loved her vehicle and asked us a couple of weeks or a week later to paint the inside of the trunk edges. We did that for her for $200 which was a discounted cost. She claimed the paint did not match, but it was difficult to tell since it was not easy to see under the weatherstripping. Nonetheless, we told her that we would re-paint it for her. She brought it back to us and although we intended to get to it done that week, we were unable to accomodate her time frame. I called her and apologized and told her we wouldn't be able to get it finished by that Friday. I told her she could leave it or she could take it and bring it back the next week or whenever it was convenient, and we would repaint it for her.

She decided to pick it up and she never brought it back. After that time, and for the next two or three years, she came to us and asked us to sponsor the [redacted] Mustang Show. She was very friendly and we got along quite well. We gladly sponsored the Mustang club. There were several times she won awards for the Mustang that we repaired and refinished, and for her husbands [redacted] Mustang that we repaired and repainted. For the next two or three years she presented us with plaques of appreciation and so we thought all was good.

As far as the truck is concerned, we spoke with her then boyfriend and now husband, [redacted] on many occaisions. We told [redacted] that it was basically a totalled truck and we thought it should be junked. He asked us to attempt to repair the vehicle on several occaisions as they just wanted it operational for use as a trash truck. We told him we would attempt to fix the frame and tried on more than 3 occaisions to repair the frame. Each time we asked [redacted] to look at it and to pay for the repairs as we went along. We also asked [redacted] to come and work with us to get it done, and although he said he would, he never did. [redacted] has been a friend of our shop for many years and he knows that we do good quality work. The amount they paid on the repairs of the truck was only for the work done on the frame machine, cutting of damaged portions and the welding of other parts in an attempt to repair the frame damage. All along we told [redacted] that we could not guarantee that it would work.

In addition to all this, during the time the vehicle was here, [redacted] was supposed to bring in a radiator and condensor so that we could get the vehicle started and be able to drive it around. [redacted] is a mechanic at **. [redacted] and said he could get his parts at cost and so we agreed to install them when they came in. They never arrived. As a result, the entire time we worked on the truck, it was towed and pushed in and around the property. It was a problem vehicle from the start and we advised him of that. In fact, we even tried to get him to consider purchasing another Ford F150 that we had on the lot that was in good condition. We told him we would apply the amounts he already paid toward the better truck. He said he really wanted his truck fixed. We kept tying to work with him and we kept trying to convince him that it wasn't worth it. Finally, we heard from a mutual friend that [redacted] and [redacted] purchased a brand new truck. Shortly after that they decided to pick up their old trunk and we heard that they junked it. The only thing they were ever charged was for the frame work and welding work. We never charged them for storage, or towing the vehicle in and out of the building or anything else extraneous.

If you need anything else from us, let me know.

Thank you.

Response:

As I reported in my last response, regarding the mustang, that we were unable to meet her request to repaint the trunk edges in the time constraint given us, due to a heavy work load. We told her to leave it and we would do it over the weekend, but she wanted to take it to a car show. We told her she could bring it back and we would take care of it. We never told her we wouldn't complete the repaint, but that we couldn't do it as quickly as she required.

In regards to the truck, we did telll [redacted] many times that the vehicle was not worth fixing. He kept telling us that [redacted] liked the truck and therefore, we told him that we would do it as best we could,. He told us to just do the minimun that would be needed so they could use it as a trash truck. [redacted] was supposed to provide the condensor and radiator and he never did. We tried on several occaisions to complete the truck for them. We have had to drag and push the vehicle into the shop on at least three occaisions. We did hours of cutting and welding on the frame and hours of pulling and measuring on the frame machine.

I am rejecting this response because:

they are offering nothing to resolve the issue just more excuses. I want a refund and nothing else will do. I will NEVER leave another vehicle at their business.
