Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/10/03) */
This complaint is full of inaccuracies. We do not make any guarantees. We do state that if information is not accurate then we correct it. We always encourage the client to review the final product in person prior to payment to check for any...

inaccuracies. If the client is unable to come into the office, then we request payment in advance but still offer to correct any inaccurate information.
He states he liked the information and how it was worded. His concern was visual as he is old-school and unaware of professional career marketing resumes which have been used for well over ten years. A person gets hired on the information, not the look of a resume. He was asked three times during review if he was pleased with the information and he assented. Instead of walking away, he paid for it, thus successfully concluding our contract.
His area of expertise is quite high up the corporate ladder which means an abundance of qualified applicants for few positions available in the current depressed employment state in Alberta. This complaint is typical of a depressed economy and/or employment opportunities. The higher the position being sought, the more fierce the competition. It is natural to blame the resume when it has nothing to do with the issue.

In summary, this client is very experienced in reviewing resumes and knows the system which means the above should be common knowledge. In closing, custom documents are not refundable, the resume has been used, the fault is not in the resume and no refund will be considered.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/10/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I will lay out my issues with the reply in numerical order.
1. "The complaint id full of inaccuracies"
A- There is not ONE inaccuracy in my complaint.
2. She did make a verbal guarantee that if I was not satisfied then she would "make me happy". Her colleague Doug was on speakerphone in this meeting at her house and can confirm this if he wishes to be honest.
3. "We always encourage the client to review the final product in person prior to payment to check for any inaccuracies."
A- A complete lie, Linda demanded full payment before we met at her office (because of prior issues), this can be verified with her e-mail and my bank transactions.
4. "He states he liked the information and how it was worded"
A- I clearly stated In my complaint "I was fine with some of the verbiage". Big difference.
5. "A person gets hired on the information"
A- This is only partly true, what Linda has conveniently left out is the fact that if the resume is unattractive and hard to read the employer would not even get to the information documented in the first place. I have had my resume re-done and without exception it has proven to be the far superior document by everyone that has seen them both, not to mention the 3 replies I have received after sending to 5 employers. Actual results.
6. "This complaint is typical of a depressed economy and/or employment opportunities"
A- This makes no sense, I am applying to companies LOOKING for employees. Not just random companies I wish to work for.
7. [redacted]
Final Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2015/10/15) */
In the twenty eight year history of this company, we have produced multiple thousands of resumes which have been successful for our clients. During this time, a few exceptions numbering less than a couple of handfuls of clients expressed lack of results. When investigated and suggestions implemented on how to improve the application process, results were realized. In very few cases clients failed to gain results from two specific areas. Either they were unwilling to take additional steps to gain employment or they were applying to jobs well outside of their skills and abilities. In short, just because someone is disgruntled, does not make the resume the culprit.
Now, to address the rebuttal points in reverse order:
7 - [redacted]
6 - It makes perfect sense. There are jobs available but during these times there are far more than the usual amount of qualified people looking for work. This is from government statistics, not conjecture. As one in a position of hiring, you well know this.
5 - [redacted] Our resumes have been cited for it's clean and easy to read appearance, both in word and print, from people in authority far above the HR "professional". Excuses and opinions do not make fact.
4 - The difference here is that you liked the entire document enough to pay for it after reviewing it in detail. Any inaccuracies are dealt with at the time of review. You could have walked away from the contract but did not.
3 - Not a lie. We do indeed encourage review before payment. It is true that the proof exists in the email correspondence. The following is a transcript of the email.
"Preferred method of payment is by cash at time of pickup. Alternatively, you may pre-pay the balance by interact e-transfer a minimum of one hour before your appointment to ensure the funds clear the banking system. This will prevent delays in allowing you to take possession of your new resume.
NOTE: Due to negative experiences in the past, we must insist that payment be received before we are able to release the document to you so please ensure adequate funds at time of pickup or a prior interact e-transfer to avoid delays."
No demand was made. You were given a choice in payment AFTER review. Clients who wish to pay via Interac e-transfer often send it an hour before the appointment to avoid time delays. Then, after reviewing the resume, they divulge the password so payment can be accepted. We do not ever demand payment. Naturally we do insist payment be made prior to leaving with the document. [redacted]
2 - "make me happy" is not a term we have ever used and it is too ambiguous in intent. We do, however, tell clients that we will address any inaccuracy later found in the document. We never imply or guarantee more than that. We will not rewrite our document in a manner that destroys the strategic and tactical intent of information delivery.
1 - There are inaccuracies, but subjective
In conclusion, this all falls under simple contract law. Both parties fulfilled and concluded a contract. No refund is warranted and no refund will be considered. We consider this matter closed.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 14, 2015/10/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is going in circles with my main issues either misconstrued, dismissed or ignored altogether. This is too important to just let go so I repeat in her order.
7.[redacted]
6. Misdirection
5. Answered above. More misdirection.
4. I was very clear here. I was NOT happy with the document but decided to trust Linda's advise as I had already made payment anyway.
3. If Linda was so confident with her product then why did I have to pay online an hour before arriving to see the document. Her own words were because of "past problems".
2. In the meeting I asked specifically if there was poor reception to the document could it be re-done in a more traditional format. This is when you replied "We would not be in business for almost 30 years if we did not make our clients happy, I will do whatever it takes to make you a happy customer".
These are Linda's words and she needs to own them.
[redacted] In closing I understand comparing one resume to another can be very subjective however when no other example like it can be found anywhere on the internet an explanation is something I think Linda would be happy to provide. This has yet to happen.
