Hello my name is Irene, I currently live at the Retama Ranch apts in Universal City Texas. I have been living at Retama Ranch since 2009 and throughout my time there everything seemed to be fine, I am a good tenant, never late on rent, never complain. I moved into apt [redacted] in May 2014 (my lease is up end of May) and since day one I’ve had issues with the apt. In June 2014 we experience many roaches and later that month we had a water leak from the 3rd floor apt which seemed like there was a waterfall in the kitchen, maintenance checked on it that evening and the next day we had a dehumidifier for 2 days in the kitchen. In September 2014 the city experienced heavy rain and we came across another issue which was water was coming into our apartment .When I called the [redacted] Jennifer G[redacted] informed me that the carpet would have to be replaced and that maintenance would check on the outside where the gutter is supposed to shoot water AWAY from the apt. All that was done was they dug a whole near the gutter. The carpet was replaced and was told everything was “fixed” . There wasn’t a follow up call or anything from anyone. This past week (April 20th) we have experienced more heavy rain, and I didn’t think that I needed to check to see if the carpet was wet or dry since it was told the issue was resolved back in September. I started noticing a smell, which at first I thought maybe it was the trash or garbage disposal. This weekend the smell got stronger with heat and humidity so we started looking around and sure enough the carpet was wet AGAIN!!! This is after a week or two of heavy rains so I am sure that the carpet has been soaked for this long. I had a small table and my couch leans up against the wall, the small table has mold on it.. and we have yet to lift the couch but I am sure that our couch is ruined as well. On 4/27 I called and spoke to the apt manager and voiced my concerns. She said that she would send maintenance in there again to check and replace the carpet. I understand that there were drains that recently have been put in but those drains aren’t anywhere near where the issue is. My main concern is that we have small children and we should not stay in an apartment that is going to cause them, me, or anyone that comes over. I had about 5 kids over this weekend for a sleep over and they slept in this! It is now May 1st and the issue still hasn't been resolved, the walls are still wet and turning a dark yellow color and the carpet has not been repaired. We are expecting rain again next week and this will all happen again since it doesn't seem to have been resolved already.
