Review: Retinal Consultants Medical Group Inc. policy is to collect any deductible prior to surgery. My wife needed emergency retina detachment surgery, so we paid over $1200 of her remaining deductible. Two months later I received a bill from the Hospital for $2356.40, which included her $1250 deductible, again! Retinal Consultants policy of collecting her deductible up front, resulted in paying the deductible twice. I called Retinal Consultants billing, and was told yes, this is the policy. They had just submitted the claim to my insurance (almost two months later) and it may take another 30-45 days before our insurance processes the claim. In the mean time, we had to pay another deductible until Retinal Consultants receive payment from my insurance, minus the deductible we've paid on the hospital bill; then they would be able to reimburse us. This is unacceptable and I am seeking immediate reimbursement of the full deductible amount. This is only fair considering the loss of interest on the money I must pay twice for one deductible.Desired Settlement: I am seeking an immediate refund of the deductible paid prior to surgery. This deductible amount has been met due to processing from the hospital for the same procedure the same day.
