unfortunately the customer is remembering some facts and forgetting others, the car came in with both a check engine light as well as an oil light, good that he remembers that we told him about the valve being bad but bad that he doesn't remember that we told him the engine could have other problems and we have to start with that repair and no guarantee that would solve the problem!! after the solenoid was replaced we called him and told him that more diagnostic and repair is needed and he refused, we told him it is unsafe driving the car with the oil light on and he insisted on driving it we cant force him not to and the repair order noted that more work is needed and he signed it before the car got released, shame that you are twisting facts like that sir!! if you like a copy of the repair order we could send you that( no one is going to buy that story about losing your receipt) , we never asked you about storage at all and we never knew what your intention were when you picked up the carit is bad and unfortunate that you had to experience that problem and it is worst to try to blame us for it while you know really well that we did not do anything wrong or unprofessional

Mr [redacted] brought his car in after having the oil changed somewhere else because he had not only the oil light on but also the check engine light as well , after performing our diagnostic we found code [redacted] stored and with further diagnostic we found that the control solenoid is bad and needs to be replacedwe called Mr [redacted] with our findings and we recommended replacing that valve which could cause both of those lights to be on and we were very clear that this is a step that needs to be taken and we can not guarantee that performing that repair will fix all his problems and more work might need to be done, we gave him an estimate for that repair, it took him at least a day maybe two to get back to us and gave us the ok to do the work ( he consulted with his parents and if I remember correctly they discussed it with their mechanic back in NY) so it was not a quick decision from their part and when he called us back to ok the work we repeated what we told him that is no guarantee that this repair will solve his problem and we told him that " this is a gamble ,this work is needed if it solves the problem everyone is happy if not more work needs to be done and that could be an internal engine problem"we were very clear and straight forward with him like we are with all of our customers, next we did the work and unfortunately did not cure the problem and the oil light was still on we called him and told him that" so I don't understand him being surprised about the oil light being on when he picked it up he knew about it" and we said that more works need to be done , he said I don't have money for any more work and I will take my chances with the car, he picked it up and we even noted the repair order which he has a copy of that the oil light is still on and more work needs to be done and he signed itwe never made any claim of any forms that it would be ok to drive the carwe can only make recommendations but at the end it's a customer decision Mr [redacted] knew that he was taken a chance by driving that car and we told him that but we can't force him not to drive it, then yes the car got towed back to our shop and the engine was seized but it wasn't seized because of our negligence and it did not happen because of the work that was done at our shop, it came in with that problem and we were very clear if replacing the valve doesn't solve the problem more work needs to be done and we pointed out to him that it could be an internal engine problem and it's a gamble and no guarantee , we feel bad that the engine seized and we, for the length of time the car stayed at our shop after it got towed in, worked with them going over all options and never pressured them to decide , we gave them a price on replacing that engine like they requested then they asked us on how much we would pay for the car if we buy as is and they were taken the time to decide on what is best for them and we didn't have any problem with that but why they want us to compensate them for that lost of time and they were the ones taken days and phone calls so they could decide instead we should be looking for storageWe feel bad that they had that problem but we don't feel at all that was any negligence from our part and we shouldn't be responsible at al

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted] Please add your rejection comments belowIn spite of what Elias and Abe’s Auto Repair says, I remember all of the facts regarding my repair of my ***My check engine light was absolutely not on when I initially brought this car to the repair shop; the oil light was the only bug light illuminatedAnd yes, I was in fact told that the solenoid was bad and needed to be replaced, which I did have the repair shop doI was never told that more work needed to be done on this carHad I been told, I would've authorized further repair, as I knew that my parents wereon board with covering the costAnd -- most importantly -- I was never, ever told it was unsafe to drive the carAs I stated in my initial complaint, I noted to [redacted] that the oil light was still on the day I picked up my car [redacted] then said to me that it would take some time for the oil to lubricate the engine, hence the light being on, and instructed me to drive the car around to achieve further lubricationAgain, I reiterate, I was never told it was unsafe to drive the car, and I certainly did not insist to take the car that day, regardless of its conditionPlease remember that I drive for Uber and my passengers safety is my utmost concern, so driving a car that could fall victim to other, more serious issues was and is completely out of the questionI was fully prepared to deal with the fact that I would be without a vehicle for the next couple of weeks in order to take the time necessary to fix what was wrong with itI think it goes without saying that the car is no good to me if it's going to break downFurthermore, before calling me, I believe he should have done another diagnostic check on the car to see why the oil light was still onAlmost every car mechanic to whom I've spoken would have done so.After retrieving the car on Friday, 5/20, the day the after that, Saturday 5/21, the check engine light did come on and I immediately called *** He told me to bring the car in on Monday, 5/ On Sunday, 5/22, my engine seized Thankfully, I was not transporting for Uber on the day my vehicle broke down on the highwayI was simply driving to church for my job as a chorister. As for the receipt, it was indeed left on my back seat of the carTypically I keep them in my glove compartment but I had not yet done that, and it did in fact disappear in the time it remained at the lot.Storage fees were never discussed [redacted] was looking for an engine to be placed in the carHe was unable to find an engine at a reasonable price, and, therefore, I rented a [redacted] with a tow dolly and towed the car to [redacted] where my parents live, miles away -- they were arranging to have an engine replaced where they live [redacted] knew that the prices he was quoting were not affordable and that I was picking up the car on a specific dateDuring this time the car when the car was at his shop, he and my mother discussed [redacted] buying it, however, ***'s offer was very low, and with the amount still owed on the car being over $8,000, my parents were not willing to take a $loss by selling [redacted] the carThroughout this entire process, my mother and I have been extremely cordial and respectful, and I don't wish for this to devolve in to name calling and snide remarksContrary to what [redacted] is saying, I have not embellished nor fabricated anything I've reportedI simply think that [redacted] should take due responsibility for these mistakes Regards, [redacted]

This is in response to Complaint #***.When I brought my *** *** *** to Elias & Abe's Auto repair, the only light that was on in my car was the oil light, the check engine light was not on at this point They are correct saying that they did a diagnosis and that I was told my car needed a control solenoid replaced It is also correct that it took one to two days to give them the okay simply because I knew I myself could not come up with $in a timely manner so I needed to ask my parents for assistance in paying for the work to be done I told *** that I would like him to replace the solenoid The day I came to pick up my car I noted to *** that the oil light was still on He told me that it would take a while for the oil to lubricate the engine and that the light would then go off And he told me the more I drove it the quicker the lubrication would take place The very next day after getting my car back my check engine light came on I immediately called *** and told him *** told me to being the car back on Monday On Sunday while on my way to church the engine seized I was lucky enough to be able to pull my car off the side of the highway and I called a tow truck I had the truck towed to Elias & Abe's Auto Repair Never did *** and I have a conversation where he said it needed more work other than the solenoid I never told said anything to him about not having money for additional work This conversation did not take place Had is conversation taken place I am sure my parents would have assisted in providing the money.*** is correct that the car stayed at his shop for a few days because he was getting prices on placing a new engine in it *** located two different engines throughout this time period; both were very expensive During this process of locating engines, *** was conversing with mother (as I stated in the initial complaint my parents got involved because they carry the loan on this car) When the prices for replacing the engine came back too high, my mother then asked *** if he would consider buying the car from them It took *** two days to come back with a price The price being around $4, Knowing that even without the engine the car was worth more than that and knowing that my parent's mechanic would be able to put a new/used engine in for much less money; the decision was made that I would tow the car back to ***, NY Furthermore, *** said nothing about storage fees until it was clear I was taking the car off his lot and planned to pursue action via the Revdex.com, which leads me to believe that it was more so a threat than anything else I would also like to add that when *** was searching for engines he told my mother the $that was spent for the solenoid would be used as credit towards replacing the engine. Additionally, I had left the receipt from Elias & Abe's Auto Repair on the seat of my car When I went to retrieve my car the receipt was missing I strongly feel that *** should not have allowed the car to leave the auto shop with the oil light still on

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below. In spite of what Elias and Abe’s Auto Repair says, I remember all of the facts regarding my repair of my 2012 [redacted]. My check engine light was absolutely not on when I initially brought this car to the repair shop; the oil light was the only bug light illuminated. And yes, I was in fact told that the solenoid was bad and needed to be replaced, which I did have the repair shop do. I was never told that more work needed to be done on this car. Had I been told, I would've authorized further repair, as I knew that my parents wereon board with covering the cost. And -- most importantly -- I was never, ever told it was unsafe to drive the car. As I stated in my initial complaint, I noted to [redacted] that the oil light was still on the day I picked up my car. [redacted] then said to me that it would take some time for the oil to lubricate the engine, hence the light being on, and instructed me to drive the car around to achieve further lubrication. Again, I reiterate, I was never told it was unsafe to drive the car, and I certainly did not insist to take the car that day, regardless of its condition. Please remember that I drive for Uber and my passengers safety is my utmost concern, so driving a car that could fall victim to other, more serious issues was and is completely out of the question. I was fully prepared to deal with the fact that I would be without a vehicle for the next couple of weeks in order to take the time necessary to fix what was wrong with it. I think it goes without saying that the car is no good to me if it's going to break down. Furthermore, before calling me, I believe he should have done another diagnostic check on the car to see why the oil light was still on. Almost every car mechanic to whom I've spoken would have done so.After retrieving the car on Friday, 5/20,  the day the after that, Saturday 5/21, the check engine light did come on and I immediately called [redacted].  He told me to bring the car in on Monday, 5/23.  On Sunday, 5/22, my engine seized.   Thankfully, I was not transporting for Uber on the day my vehicle broke down on the highway. I was simply driving to church for my job as a chorister. As for the receipt, it was indeed left on my back seat of the car. Typically I keep them in my glove compartment but I had not yet done that, and it did in fact disappear in the time it remained at the lot.Storage fees were never discussed. [redacted] was looking for an engine to be placed in the car. He was unable to find an engine at a reasonable price, and, therefore, I rented a [redacted] with a tow dolly and towed the car to [redacted] where my parents live, 365 miles away -- they were arranging to have an engine replaced where they live. [redacted] knew that the prices he was quoting were not affordable and that I was picking up the car on a specific date. During this time the car when the car was at his shop, he and my mother discussed [redacted] buying it, however, [redacted]'s offer was very low, and with the amount still owed on the car being over $8,000, my parents were not willing to take a $4000 loss by selling [redacted] the car. Throughout this entire process, my mother and I have been extremely cordial and respectful, and I don't wish for this to devolve in to name calling and snide remarks. Contrary to what [redacted] is saying, I have not embellished nor fabricated anything I've reported. I simply think that [redacted] should take due responsibility for these mistakes.
