I retired in November 2019 and moved to Bluffton, SC from West Virginia in December 2019. We had a IRA account that was managed by one of the large investor firms in their Atlanta office for the past 7 years. I trusted this advisor since his firm had handled my wife's father's account for years. I paid very little attention to this account since my knowledge of the financial world was minimal. I also had an existing 401K account with the engineering firm that I retired from in November. In January we received an invitation to attend a free retirement financial planning session that was presented by Phil and Kyle. Once on the university campus, I had difficulty finding the room and was leaving but took a chance on the last building I looked and found the room for the meeting. Phil & Kyle are true professionals. I was very skeptical about changing our Advisor. I asked them about licenses, experience and references. They provided Kentucky and South Carolina licenses and provided me with a list of clients who had worked with them for at least 5 years, as per my request. I called 3 clients and all were very positive. They met with us, went over the strategy and created a separate fund with our Primo Stocks (*** & *** mostly that we purchased when we lived in San Francisco. We will never have to pay a dime for him to manage these. I called very frustrated once - I was trying to get my paperwork sent to me on-line and he worked with us & the company to accomplish my wishes at our next meeting. Seems to me to be knowledgeable, honest and takes his duty to put my financial needs first first. A good decision we switched.

I was with a large, well-know financial company and while my advisor was very nice and did a fair job, he wasn't customizing my portfolio to help me get the most out of my money as a retiree.
