Save yourself the frustration and choose another caterer! I was married last September (I apologize to anyone that has used them since for not posting sooner) and can honestly say that my biggest stressor was Charlotte R***I do not typically write reviews, but thought it necessary to warn other brides, so you can hopefully avoid the unnecessary extra stressMy first piece of advice is to- SHOP AROUND for caterers! I wish I had as I probably would have saved myself from much unneeded stressTo make it easier, I will list the things that I found to be unsatisfactory, unprofessional, and the things that caused the most stress:
Disorganized- In our first meeting Charlotte wrote down everything we discussed, in a disorganized fashion, on a piece of notebook paperThis would be the “official document” she referred to moving forward regarding all detailsAdditionally, just weeks before the wedding when she had not done what she was supposed to, even though I had provided to her the information she needed SEVERAL times before in meetings and emails, she lied and told me that coffee was spilled on the paper where she had everything written (and apparently did not have a copy)- so I almost had no china or silverware for my receptionMore on this mess up belowIf you are looking for someone that is organized, honest, and on top of their game, this is NOT that placeAgain, I constantly had to make contact to set up meetings and organize details, that she assured me she was going to take care ofOne of the details I was assured of from the very first meeting that would be done through Charlotte was the ordering of the china, silverware, etcAt the first meeting I was provided with several different rental services that she had supposedly worked with before and was instructed to review their sites and then get back to herAs I’m the type of person that likes to get things done as soon as possible, I did this right away and contacted her via email to ask if a meeting was necessary to put in the orderShe never directly answered, but asked that we set up a meeting, which occurred in FebruaryMy understanding was that we were meeting to pick out what she would orderWhen my fiancé and I got to the café to discuss this, she pulled out her notebook paper, looked at us and said, “Now, what are we meeting about today?” So, needless to say it was a wasted trip in which she told me to email her with the rental information so she could place the orderWe had to travel an hour to meet with her, which she knew, to get nothing accomplished So I did as she instructed and emailed her the order informationI received no response to confirmI emailed again and was told that it was a busy time at the café and she told me she would get back to me when whatever event they had going on was overAfter no response within the time frame she had provided, I contacted her AGAINShe assured me that she received my rental information and everything was good to goAfter another month, when I had not received any information on putting down a deposit for the rentals, I emailed her again to confirm that the order was placedI had to email several times, but finally received confirmation that yes, it was done (this was around April-months before the wedding)A few weeks before my wedding we needed to set up a meeting with the venue, caterer, and myself and fiancé to finalize all detailsDuring that meeting Charlotte asked me if I had placed the order for the rentalsI thought my head was going to explodeSomehow I remained calm and reminded her of the several email correspondences in which she told me she had done itLuckily her assistant was there to save her, because she had no response for me and the assistant “reminded” her that they did have the informationShe obviously knew Charlotte s*** up and they needed to act fastI was again assured that the order would be placed, only after having Charlotte rudely scawf at me and talk about me at the meeting as if I was not there saying “Ha, she thinks we can do this when we are so busy!” RUDE and UNPROFESSIONALOne week before my wedding, I got a voice mail while at work- it was Charlotte telling me she had just spoke with the rental place and there was no order under my nameYep- you read that right- AFTER all of the emails AND the meeting, she still hadn’t placed the order until a week before my wedding! If she had communicated clearly with me and not LIED, I would have placed the order myself months in advanceThank goodness the rental company could accommodate the order, but you can start to see what I mean by- UNECESSARY STRESS! Not exactly the type of thing a bride wants to deal with when working full time and living an hour away from where the wedding is taking placeAdditionally, I looked over the order she placed and had to work with the rental company because she had me ordering things like spoons for the place setting, that were not necessaryAdditionally she forgot to order small plates so there were only cocktail napkins for the stationary appsMore s*** ups on her partCharlotte was also not accommodating at allIf you read #2, you can see that she does not respond and is not good at communicating with her bridesAdditionally she clearly takes on more business than she can handle so once she has your deposit, she does nothing to make time for youAs mentioned I work full time and live an hour away which made it more difficult to meetThe scheduling of the final meeting was the worst of allI was attempting to schedule with Charlotte and the coordinator of the venue to have the final meeting and Charlotte would absolutely not accommodate a weekend meetingThis meant I had to drive from Philly to Reading after a full day of work to have the meetingI’m sure this also required the workers of the venue to stay later than normal, and on top of this, she was rude to me once we were there!
Now I’d like to address the foodTaste wise, it was pretty goodHowever, portions were a whole other storyWhen at the tasting Charlotte assured us that the cuts of meat would be larger/thicker (prime rib) at the wedding than what was prepared for the tastingThat was not soI think they might have been thinner and the portions were smallerHowever, they did try to pull a fast oneThe portions that they gave to me and my husband were larger than the portions given to my guests- tricky, huh? Not exactly a quality you want in a caterer who you are paying thousands of dollars to feed all of your family and friendsAdditionally the appetizers were RIDICULOUSLY SMALL! My mother in law hit the nail on the head when she said that the stuffed mushrooms looked like stuffed blueberriesAll the served apps were super tinyI also later found out that half my guests had cold food and it took a long time to serve as they only had servers for around peopleOn top of all of this, I later found out that those who ordered the vegetarian option did not receive what Charlotte and I had discussedWhen reviewing the final contract (which was ALL wrong and I will address next), she listed the Vegetarian dish as Green Beans and Red PotatoesThose were just the sides for the regular meal AND she was charging me the same price! We had originally decided on a stuffed mushroom dish (although if they were the size of the apps, those people would have starved!) along with the sidesThey only received the sidesVery disappointing to be so stressed out, to know you provided this information several times and early on, and it was still screwed up the day of and I was not given what was promised or what I paid forIn regards to the contract- what a nightmareRather than email, I called Charlotte to address all of the mistakes from the head count (which I had provided to her several times, even via email) to the final price, as she “forgot” to include one of the discounts I was due to receive by putting down an extra deposit about months before the weddingInstead of sending me an updated contract, she told me to just cross out and write the updates- again, very UNPROFESSIONAL!
One thing to add to the food- as the appetizers were being served, all of the sudden a server was coming around with ONE plate of shrimp cocktail (for people)I had not ordered this, however, I do know that Charlotte was catering at the same venue the evening beforeI can guess where that shrimp came from, and I was grossed outI didn’t ask for that and certainly would not want left over apps from another wedding being served at mine, especially something like seafoodI did receive an email afterwards from Charlotte asking of I enjoyed the “complimentary” shrimpI did notThere were many other little things, such as when I confronted Charlotte regarding the stress she was causing (about the rental order), she told me not to stress because it would cause wrinklesBecause that’s exactly what a bride wants to hear, after her caterer nearly screwed up everything???!?? She never once apologized for all of the mistakes and mess upsI cannot stress enough that I would NEVER recommend this company to cater an event, especially something as important as your weddingTo sum up, Charlotte does not make the time once you pay your first deposit, she does not pay attention to detail, there is a major lack of organization and communication, and this company does not provide what they promiseAvoid the unnecessary stress, choose a different caterer!

I am writing this to warn anyone about using Rhein's Classic Catering CompanyThankfully my fiance and I cancelled before it was too late Rhein's Catering was misleading, unorganized, and unprofessional The owner, Charlotte, lied about the ability of her company, staff, and quality of her food Communication with Charlotte by far was the most frustrating due to two reasons - she does not respond - her responses are not direct and unprofessional The food at our tasting was sub par from what you would expect from a catering company We were served food that was not quality foodIf it is our recommendation that you do not consider Rhein's catering for any weddingMy fiance and I are thankful that we are not using Rhein's for our wedding
