Review: The salesperson told me I had over 1200 viruses and that my windows had stopped working so I had no virus protection and said I needed to fix it right away and not to use my computer. I was afraid that something would happen to my computer so believed him. Since then I have talked to Best Buy, where I purchased the computer because it was only a little over a month old, and they said they had never heard of this company and they never heard of a 3 way fix, which is what the salesperson said I needed for $388.00??? Best Buy said I should have brought it to them and if there was an issue they would only have charged maybe $200.00. Since then my computer has not been working right and I think this whole thing was a scam. I have had pop-ups before on my old computer that tried to tell me I had a lot of viruses and my AVG program worked fine and I didn't have any issues. I think they scammed me and sold me something I didn't need because my Norton Antivirus was still working. Also, they didn't give me a business address or direct phone number to call them?Desired Settlement: To have the $388.00 refunded

Review: Rhombus Techs Date/Time: *-Feb-2013 11:15:56 PST Transaction ID: [redacted] $189.00 For Virus Analysis (1 year of tech help) and AVG Business Virus Protection (4 years) These people showed me addresses and phone numbers located within the US (New York, NJ) but they are in Dubai and their accent is from India. Having had trouble with my laptop, I thought I might have a "virus" so I searched for Virus help for Windows running computers. These people say that they will look in your computer, via remote, and then they claim they've found a virus. Ok... consumer beware. The average person doesn't know tech lingo and writing, so being an "average" computer user, I allowed them to search through my computer for a virus or other complication. Having no idea what I was watching them do on my screen, they claimed that in order to remove the virus I would have to pay them $189.00 for that service and tech support for, I believe one year. In addition, they trashed my iolo product virus protection and offered me AVG Business Version virus protection for 4 years. Suddenly, my AVG program was informing me that the AVG software protection I was running was not legitimate and I needed to upgrade/pay for new AVG protection. Getting in touch with Rhombus I watched them re-type several different serial numbers/codes into the AVG licensing box. Each time they completed the AVG update (supposedly) with different numbers and letters in the licensing area, the same box would appear a few mins later. This happened 3 or 4 times today. I was informed by Rhombus, via online tech chat, that it was a "global issue w/AVG" that was causing the pop-up about the illegal or improper licensing use. Then I typed that I was going to check with AVG. The tech typed back immediately that they would give me yet another type of virus protection. I refused, letting them know I needed to first call AVG. Rhombus called me immediately and I let the answering machine take the call. I was online with an AVG tech that responded AVG was not having a "global" or any other issue at the time. He took the Rhombus Techs/Technology Inc, information and he was not able to find them in his AVG sponsored database search, clearly making it clear that Rhombus had no agreement with AVG to use their product or licensing. The tech was appreciative of my information but recommended I contact the Revdex.com immediately. I think they gave me an invalid or number and tried several different ones. They promised me 4 years of AVG Business 21:10:18 [[redacted]] We have a problem. There is no record of that company in our database 21:13:43 [[redacted]] So, I'm screwed 21:13:48 [[redacted]] I want to report them 21:14:34 [[redacted]] I would call the Revdex.com and report them. 21:14:48 [[redacted]] There is nothing I can do but not the key in use. 21:15:58 [[redacted]] Thank you for taking the time to explore this with me. This is the 2nd [redacted] voiced company that took over $160 from me to give me virus support and online trouble shooting. 21:16:53 [[redacted]] I would only go through [redacted] from now on. If you do so please select the business support as you will then only speak with someone in my department. Located in good old North Carolina. 21:17:53 [[redacted]] I didn't need business support. I'm not in business. I guess they thought by saying that they'd continue to entice me when I thought I had a virus months ago. 21:18:21 [[redacted]] I understand. 21:18:28 [[redacted]] Does the free AVG work fine for me? I used to have that. 21:18:36 [[redacted]] Yes it will. 21:18:59 [[redacted]] Thank you, [redacted]. I really appreciate your time and help. 21:19:02 [[redacted]] However, I will not be able to provide support for Free. 21:19:10 [[redacted]] No problemDesired Settlement: The best outcome I wish for is to be refunded the amount charged by what I believe to be a fraudulent transaction w/no assurance of any AVG Business Virus Protection. Second best... partial refund for the inability to provide AVG Business Virus protection for 4 years. Absolutely want all of these companies to be fined or prohibited to advertise as a US based or NY/NJ based operation and for the Revdex.com to be vigilant, on the behalf of "average computer users", so a company like Rhombus cannot offer invalid license numbers to software such as AVG, without being accountable in some darn way!
