I first need to state that the individual writing this complaint was never a customer of mine nor was he ever present during this transactionI met with his sister to look at her jobShe had mentioned to me that another contractor looked at the job and told her the whole house fan needed to be
replacedI mailed her a contract with pricing of what it would cost to replace itShe signed the contract and sent it backI explained to her I was very busy with other clients and it would take several months to get back to her projectShe was fine with thatI called her and set up a date to do her jobShe mailed me a check for $to cover the cost of the whole house fanIt took time to locate the fan because it wasn't available in our cityI located the fan in another city and traveled there to pick up the fanAfter I picked up the fan, she called to tell me that her brother took the old motor out of the old fan and was going to buy a new motor for the old house fanI told her that would be fine but that I needed to be paid for my time spent locating the fan, picking up the fan and returning the fanI sent her my bill, deducting my labor costs and mailed her a check for the differenceShe then called me wanting me to put the new motor into the old fanI let her know I couldn't do that because I didn't see how the old motor was removed, so her brother, who took the old motor out, was the one who needed to put the new motor back into the fanMy contract with his sister was for replacing the whole house fan not repairing an old fanI received one call from her brother, which I answered, he informed me that he was taking out the old motor and ordering a new oneThis was not a part of the contractHe states here that they have called and texted several times but I have received no such phone calls and no such textsMy client changed the scope of the work on the agreed contractI sent her a bill for partial work I did on the original contractThe remaining money owed her was sent to her by check in the mailShe cashed the checkThe statement that I took the whole $is falseI only heard of this complaint yesterday when Revdex.com notified me by mailI have called the client and left a message trying to resolve this issueNo response yetWhen you sign a contract and part of the work has been performed on that contract, even though the scope of the work changed, the contractor should be paid

I left out in my last response that *** *** was going to charge my sister-in-law $to replace the whole house fan per his contract if he competed the jobAs it turned out when I went into the attic and looked at the fan all it needed was a new motor, which I ordered from Home Depot via the internet for $So, the job took me hours to pull the motor, order the motor and reinstall the motorNo new fan, carpentry, trim work or painting requiredHe should refund her the balance of the $deposit she gave him, which is $for not showing up to do the work, buying and returning an unnecessary fan and trying to take advantage of her and charge her $for a job that took me hours and $to complete
