Rich Miller Heating & Cooling

Review: I recently purchased a home that had a wall unit air conditioner that the previous homeowners had lost the remote for. I was directed to contact Kalamazoo (also known as Rich Miller heating & cooling) as this was the company who had originally installed the unit. I called this business and provided them with the name and address of the previous owner so that they could pull a card with the air conditioning unit information on it. I was never asked to provide any information myself regarding which model I had. I received a call back from [redacted] who determined himself which remote I would need and told me that it would be $198 for him to order it. Once I got the remote home, I was unable to get it to communicate with the air conditioning unit. I contacted the business again with this issue and was given a few tips to try as well as referred to the manufacturer website. I took it upon myself to email the manufacturer with the unit model number as well as the remote model number to get resolution. I was informed by a representative of [redacted] that this was the incorrect remote & that the remote I needed could be ordered for only $85. I contacted Rich Miller with this information & asked for either a refund or exchange for the correct remote. He refused both stating it was the right remote & very rudely directed me to call [redacted] from [redacted] tech support because I would need to simply program the remote for it to work. After calling tech support, they confirmed a second time that Rich Miller had ordered the wrong remote. My boyfriend then went to the business with the remote to see what could be done & was told that they would need to check with [redacted] but they doubted the remote could be sent back. We received no response for over a week. We called back & my boyfriend got into a yelling match with [redacted] who informed us that his business "was not [redacted]" & he would not return anything. We have called back several times since then & have never heard any response back.Desired Settlement: I would like this business to return the incorrect remote & give me my $198 back. I was clearly overcharged for the item as it can be purchased directly from the manufacturer for only $85. There was no notification at the business, on my receipt, or by any representative of the business that no returns were accepted. They are the professionals in this area who made the mistake & ordered the incorrect item.
