Was sealed by another contractor,on my contract it states 
IF SEALED By ANY OTHER CONTRACTER guarantee is VOID
VOID.so Custermer has to understand if I do...

If I put some blacktop in spot and it does not hold,there is nothing more I can do.

I called Diehl Paving for an estimate for a driveway tear out and redo as well as covering a smaller cracked driveway in the back of the house. I spoke with Larry Diehl - Richard Diehl's son. We set up a date for the estimate less than one week later. Larry was punctual and very knowledgeable. We scheduled the work for 1 week later. On the day of Larry called me to state he was on his way. Arriving within a few minutes of the scheduled time we had a discussion with regards to the work, signed the contract, and the crew immediately began working. Larry was extremely patient with my comments and questions as the work was being performed. He agreed to do an additional service which we added onto the contract. The work was performed that day as well. When the job was finished I inspected it. The new driveway, as well as the back pad, looked AMAZING!! Due to our past issues with heavy rains and melting snow I felt that I needed to await the first heavy rain to comment on it's performance. A week or so later it poured for a few days straight. Every bit of the downhill rain veered off down the swale away from our home and driveway into the drain where it should've been going in the past. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with our new driveway!!! I would absolutely recommend Diehl Paving. Larry and his crew did an excellent job!!

Review: Diehl applied a "tar and chip" surface coating to my driveway on June 24th, 2013. Far too much stone chips were applied and tons of it washed down into large piles at the bottom and need to be removed as they're on a public street. The driveway is a mess.....another contractor looked at Diehl's work and pronounced it a sloppy job that needs to be corrected. Several holes and ridges where the coating adhered were also exposed as the excess stone washed away and those need to be made level.

I began calling Mr. Diehl within a week after rains had exposed the problems.....but he's been ignoring the messages I leave asking for him to look the job over any correct the issues. I believe I've now called and left messages asking for a reply about 6 times. He continues to not return my calls. What a terrible way to run a business.

By the way, Diehl claimed to offer a "2 year warranty" on his work. Not worth anything if he refuses to return calls and address issues.

He was paid.....$2,900.....promptly on the day he finished the work.Desired Settlement: I want the excess stone broomed off the driveway, picked up and hauled away. As well as the obvious imperfections in the surface recoated and repaired. I've documented the condition of the driveway with photographs of it and the stone piles on the street.

If the Revdex.com can't get this guy to respond and complete the job satisfactorily.......I'll have no choice but to hand the matter over to an attorney and take Diehl to small claims court seeking either a full refund or damages to pay for another paver to correct the issues and produce a respectable result.

I have talk to the custermer the day after ,I have talk to the the custermer a least 2 times since the job was done I told him I will be out there within a week to clean the chips off, the reason is to make sure the tar was dry.there is nothing else to return a call and tell him on the Fourth of July holiday I'm sure no body is in at the Revdex.com,I will have this resolved with in a week and 2 thing I do not like to be lied on I did talk to the Custermer he not telling the truth besides that I am to my word regardless of his.as soon as the chips are clean off you will here from me and pictures will b sent!!if you need to get a hold of me this is my cell [redacted] do not hesitate to call.custermer I think is a good man he paid me when I was done but needs a little patience.

Review: I have been trying to contact the owner of the business because the driveway that they installed has sunk in several places and in one place it is quite large and getting larger. There is another issue, when it rains the water lays on another part of the driveway and does not drain away (during heavy rain). This driveway was installed in May of 2014 and the sinking started in less that six weeks. The owner will not return my calls and will not come to look at this problem. I am greatly upset at the money I have spent and the driveway has NOT been done properly. I feel like I am being avoided due to a problem that will take away from the contractors profit. He at least should contact me and meet with me to discuss so we may resolve this issue that is getting worse. The sales representative did come out to our home on the first complaint and stated that the owner would come by, he never did. After calling last week to the sales representative, he stated he no longer worked for the company but would pass the message along and would have the owner contact us. He never (the owner) did, contact us. I tried to contact him again today and only ever get his voice mail, please note, I tried to contact the owners phone number first, and only ever have gotten his voice mail and he never calls back. My calls, have gone unanswered, and I must admit, I have not kept track of the calls I have made to the owner. I only know that when I have contacted the sales representative, I have gotten through to him, with no response as promised, from the owner.Desired Settlement: If the driveway cannot be repaired, the only resolution that would seemingly take care of the problem, then it will have to be replaced. I do not like to see anyone loose money but, I paid and the job has not held up correctly and I want this resolved by either correction or replacement. BUT I WANT TO HEAR FROM RICHARD AND SEE HIM IN PERSON!

Review: Contracted Richard Diehl Paving company to repair and extend our driveway on March 21st of 2014

During the first week of April nearly 2 full weeks after the completion of the driveway we noticed dips started forming in our driveway and plant life starting breaking through.

During the time of installation. We offered the contractor’s employees water and lunch as we’re were going out for luck ourselves. The complied and gave us their orders for Burger king. When we came back home. They enjoyed their lunch as we did indoors. To our surprise, my son notices the workers are using our driveway as an ashtray, throwing their spent cigarettes in with the gravel. This left kind of work left us feeling concerned of any implications. Later in the day when the job was completed and the workers left. We have discovered all of the left over garbage from lunch along with the refreshment glasses thrown and spread out all of over our side yard. This was upsetting, but the workers being kids themselves we just cleaned up the mess. Not only was the mess a frustration. The job was as well. We asked for our curb to be fixed as the concrete was sinking. Richard Diehl's solution was to pile up black gravel on the white concrete. Which left an ugly mess that actually sunk! Or cars bottom out each time even more now.

We were instructed that we can drive and park on the new driveway within 24 hours, but knowing better we waited 3 days regardless. In 2 weeks’ worth of time is when we started to notice the ground sinking where one of the cars were parked. A light weighted [redacted]. Also simultaneously we noticed 2 more spots towards the center of the driveway where plant life was breaking through. The gravel on the edges of structure were also very weak. It basically was so weak that you can physically separate the gravel from the main structure with the minimal effort of your hand.

I have emailed Richard Diehl to report the issues and he replied with “Just letting u know I got your message I'll take care of it give me 10 days.” I confirmed on the 9th day as a reminder just in case. The 10 days came and went so we called the office to be greeted by the receptionist who stated Richard will get back to us promptly. A week passed from the phonecall I have made previously with no response. I made a 2nd call, which the receptionist answered again. This time she stated Richard is having a family issue with his son and will get back to me as soon as possible. Another week has gone by and no answer. I called again and this time the receptionist stated that Richard is having family issues with his mother and he will get back to me as soon as possible. Another week has passed by. I made a very strong effort to call the office of Richard Diehl on a weekly basis going through the exact same responses. I’m a very patent man.

I switched to calling bi-weekly as I’m still hopeful that Richard will honor his warranty guarantee. In July I had sent the following email.

07/31/14

“Hello Richard,

I think you may of forgotten about us over here. I called once a week, up until the end of May and just gave up.

As a progress report, other than the plantlife growing through, we started getting nasty dips in the driveway and the entry started getting rough to pull in.

I know you are a man of your word and probably just forgot about us.

Still I have yet received on response from him. I thought to myself, just give him time and he will make things right. On 10/29 a contractor who does driveway sealing offered his services as a door to door business. He stated that he is familiar with the work of Richard Diehl and that I made a significant mistake of dealing with the likes of him and I can guarantee he will never come back. He also stated in regards to the holes and sinking issue will only become far worse as we progress into the winter making the driveway completely unusable unless he seals the driveway. So I took up the offer for the service and decided to send Richard Diehl one last email in the hops of what the contractor stated to be incorrect. I emailed the following:

“Hello Richard,

I have been trying to get a hold of you since April.

I understand you were facing family issues at the time so I backed off a bit to let you sort them out. Perhaps you have forgotten to get a hold of me.

As stated earlier we still have dips and plant life growing in our new driveway and the curb gravel already sunk, making my car bottom out upon entry and leaving. There also certain wet spots happening. .

Sealers stopped by last week and told me, whoever applied the gravel did it when the stuff was too cold to lay. He also said that it didn't seem like your work, but he did hear of this happening when your not directly involved in the job. I treated your boys well and got them food for lunch and when they left they had garbage and cigarettes all over the place and I ignored that. Now I'm looking for you to help me out with this. The sealers told me to contact the magistrate to settle things, but I really want to give you the benefit of the doubt. I waited 7 months for you so what's a little more.

First thing is yes I had some issues this summer Second thing you should have not put sealer on the driver when it's new if you read the sealer on the side side Home Depot sealer or seal master it recommends not seal the driveway because it has to give off the gases to harden it .the word is oxidation .third thing is THAT VOIDS WARRANTY, when you have another contractor seal your driveway.when I came out there Thursday to fix it I was shock that you seal over a problem you called me about . If the problem was so bad and seal guy knows so much he should have fix it .regaurdless I seen the blade of grass and the tire inprint in the black top I will fix it any way but I can't until the sealer wares off.

But remember the guarantee is void.

The contractor said if I don't see you let those holes and dips are going to go deeper and deeper and that I am going to be facing some serious issues for the winter time especially when the snow comes. He basically said I need to do this or I'm screwed and will not be able to clean the driveway. From what I understand see you later can take a few years to wear off. Is there anything we can do to remove the sealer so we can get the driveway fixed?

At this point I was at wits end and completely out of temperament as left Richard Diehl a very forward email with the following

Hello Richard,

I thought about it for the past few days and No.

I refuse to go out like this. I waited for you for 7 months to get back to me. I tried very hard to get ahold of you and the very moment I take matters into my own hands I finally get a reply from you going on about how the warranty is now voided. This is bull st bud and you know it. I have been nothing but kind and considerate to you, your team and company and paid fairly and this is where it got me? I'm finished with this and am not going to be screwed and dangled by you any longer. You guys can easily pressure wash the sealer off and I'm not waiting several years for it to wear away. If you don't set up an appointment with me at the very least to fix your quality of work. I am going to the magistrate on Friday to file a complaint and hearing. It's insane that it is coming to this and even worse that I trusted you unconditionally to make things right as my emails over the past few months state as I repeatedly gave you the benefit of the doubt. Look, I'm a nice guy with a ton of patience but when I get the big F you, that's when the line gets crossed.
