Richard M. Yarbro Family Dentistry, PS Reviews (5)

Revdex.com,I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I was a patient at Yarbro Family Dental from April 2015-October 2015. During this...

time, [redacted] performed a crown for me on July 28, 2015. This crown was problematic from the start, and I contacted his office many times to discuss the ongoing issues... pain and sensitivity. He chose not to provide professional and complete customer service. He dropped me as a patient on October 22, 2015, knowing full well that the crown was still causing pain. As a result, I had to seek out a new dentist for a second opinion. The new dentist completed multiple x-rays and noted the poor crown fit up as the source of the problem. Professional courtesy would dictate [redacted] should have replaced the crown at no charge or at a reduced charge, but he refused any service. My insurance will only pay for a crown on any single tooth surface once every 7 years, so they refused to pay for the new crown. I had to pay an out of pocket amount of $1105. My insurance recommended I send letters to Yarbro Dental requesting a refund. So, I have sent [redacted] multiple letters requesting a refund starting December 22, 2015, including a certified copy. I have been ignored by his office.
I just want my insurance money refunded and my out-of-pocket money refunded. My insurance is due 50% ($393) and I am due 50% ($393), which is what was paid to Yarbro Family Dental (Total- $786). This will reinstate my dental benefit and allow me to reprocess my new crown (Completed 1/4/16) and use these funds at my new dental office. Thank you.

We would also need a copy of the x-ray showing an infection as our last x-ray and the exam with the root canal specialist showed no infection and the crown placement was wnl at that time.

While I understand the business is trying to find every way to avoid refunding the unsuccessful crown, this lacks professionalism. I am requesting that they honor their original response, which requested my Dentist's notes.  I provided the notes and statement that showed the crown being redone was not "hearsay."  So, I am asking the busiess to uphold their original response and refund the unsuccessful crown now. Thank you.Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you for your response.  We have attempted to reconcile this issue with the patient by requesting the documentation from the second dentist's opinion stating the crown was inadequate since we have documentation from a specialist indicating the crown was fine.  The patient refused to submit this documentation and now states we have been "ignoring" her requests, but we cannot offer refunds based on heresay.  I am not sure how to proceed at this point without this documentation provided by the patient and/or treating dentist.

Review: My last dental cleaning at Dr. Yarbro's office was horribly painful. The lady who performed my cleaning used her sharp metal cleaning tool to repeatedly puncture my gums and rip through them while attempting to clean my teeth. At the end of the cleaning, my entire mouth throbbed for 3 days and bled for a very long time. I've never had an issue with a dental cleaning before and maintain my teeth with diligent care. When I emailed the dentist himself about the complaint, he defended his dental assistant and said that sometimes cleanings hurt if my teeth aren't taken care of. This was rather offensive to me but he agreed to do the cleaning himself on my next visit. Yesterday, I went back to the dentist for my bi-yearly cleaning. A different dental assistant brushed and flossed my teeth, not the dentist as promised, which I was alright with since she was friendly and gentle. However, when she called the dentist out to look at my teeth and, I thought to clean away the plaque with the sharp pointy hook tool, he picked up the tool, looked at me and ask, "Is it ok if I use this?" I was offended at his tone and mannerism and assured him I was just fine with having the tool used on me. He asked again, "Are you sure, it might hurt..." Again, very frustrated, I assured him I was just fine. He cleaned in between one tooth and then walked away. I was shocked when the dental assistant told me I was done. All they did was brush my teeth. My teeth didn't even feel "cleaned" at all. I walked out to my car and looked at my teeth and there was still plaque on them. I couldn't believe it. I called the dentist office back about 15 minutes later and stated I was very unhappy and would like to go to a different office to obtain a real cleaning. The receptionist declined my request and said the office was billing for a cleaning. I agued that my teeth had not actually been cleaned and she promised me that the dentist would call back to discuss the issue. He never called. So I am paying out of pocket for a new cleaning.Desired Settlement: I would like the opportunity to go to another office for a real dental cleaning. I do not want to be billed for this cleaning. I feel my teeth have absolutely not been taken care of and cleaned adequately in order to help prevent cavities for the next 6 months. My insurance will only pay for one dental cleaning every 6 months, and I would like to be able to go to another dentist immediately and receive an adequate, real cleaning.
