Richard Salter Electric Reviews (%countItem)

We decided to move a washer and dryer from our basement to a 2nd floor bedroom closet of our home.
Before physically moving the washer and dryer, we hired Salter Electric Ltd to run new power lines from our electrical panel (in the basement) and install power outlet for the washer and special outlet for the dryer in the 2nd floor bedroom closet.
Work was undertaken on July 7, 2020. Work included the removal of drywall in a few locations in order to access new power lines and install required outlets. The result of the work was debris on floor, walls, and surrounding areas of the bedroom.
My husband asked Salter tech if debris was going to be cleaned up as part of their work. Salter tech advised "that's your responsibility". Unlike other contractors that we have hired in the past, Salter did not install protective coverings, ex: tarps, to collect any debris. We contracted Salter to advise what their tech had advised relating to cleaning up the mess they left.
Also, we wished to pay for work by credit card and were advised payment could only been by cash, debit, or bank interact. We complained we had not advised of payment options when we hired the firm.
We were issued an invoice in the amount of $2,147.00 in full by cheque. My husband contacted Salter for an official receipt -Salter provided receipt by email.
Both washer and dryer have be relocated and working ok. We hired a contractor who performed installation.
Both my husband and I are seniors, both retired and living on a fixed income. Although we were pleased with wiring, we were not pleased with the mess that was left for us to clean. We will not recommend Salter to anyone and will not hire this firm if we require electrical work to be done.

Mr. contacted via phone to discuss her project about 1 week prior to service. *** went through a series of questions regarding the home, layout and lenght that would need to be covered to complete the wire that was required and was given a verbal quote of $1900 as per what he estimated the the approx time and materials that would be required. The client agreed and booked service.

The guys arrived at the cust as scheaduled and performed the work and issued a bill in the amount agreed. The employees did not keep track of all items used as the jobs was quoted.

The client called roughly 1 1/2 weeks later to complain that he had not received a payment receipt, he provided an email address and a receipt was forwarded shortly there after. The client also complained that our staff had dropped coffee all over his wall and left it there. We spoke to both our staff both of them confirmed that no coffee had been brought into the customers house. the client also mentioned that his reno was way over budget and after work had been completed for some time was looking for a seniors discount. After contacting our staff *** and employee of 10 years and my son employee of 5.

We now receive a differnt complaint through the ***. The the client is stating that the workers left debris behind and he could not use a Credit card to pay. We do not accept credit card payment. We are a small business payment methods is cash cheque or e-transfer, Credit card is available but an additionial service of 3% is charged. This allows us to keep our rates lower and not have all our clients pay for credit card use. I spoke with *** that was the one responsible to clean up, he specifically remembers asking the client for a gargabe bag to place dirt that was swept up. The small pieces of drywall that were removed would have been left behind, for the benefit of the customer to simplify repairing the drywall. Should any debris have been missed we are sorry but it would have been minimal. If you read most of our reviews prays our workers for picking up when completed.

In short we provided the service requested at the price that had been agreed on, when it was scheaduled and good work manship. Since it was a quote an itemized list was not kept for materials. *** clearly remember asking the client for a garbage bag and cleaned up. We do not offer Seniors discounts. Payment methods are by cheque etransfer or cash - should you not agree with a quoted price you are at liberty to get more quotes, we are usually mid point when quoting again others.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because. We were not asked for a garbage bag. Although they provided the service that was contracted out, our complaint was they did not clean up the debris from the job.

Case closed.

Sincerely

I just met with *** to go over a wiring issue I had in my home. He was punctual and was able to diagnose the issue rapidly. He did not charge me for his time as no remediation work was required. All this to say that I found the service to be very good, excellent communication, professional approach, and great customer service. I would call them again for any future electrical work I require.

Thanks *** for thé kind words and I am happy to help .

I had been procrastinating calling an electrician to fix a number of light fixtures in my house, but when one particular light kept going off and requiring the breaker to be switched back on three times in one day, I became worried about the possibility of an electric fire. I randomly called a few companies located in the East End of Ottawa that were all rated A+ on the Revdex.com site. *** at Richard Salter Electric Ltd. was the first electrician I was able to reach immediately. I was very impressed from beginning to end. He provided a realistic quote, provided some advice/options on where to purchase some reasonably priced light fixtures, and managed to squeeze me in the same day I called, even though this meant he would finish later than his regular work hours. I appreciated the speed and quality of his work, his assistance in helping me reduce costs (both in terms of advice on where to shop and in giving me an honest opinion on those fixtures that did not need replacement), and the peace of mind his same-day service gave me in terms of removing my worry about a fire. I would use his services again and would highly recommend him to anyone seeking an electrician in the East End of Ottawa or really city-wide.
