Eight years ago and again recently I attempted to hire HC for work at my home The first time I needed a ramp, it took more than a month for two people to come and assess, ultimately they did not know how to build a ramp saying things like it would have to end in the street or the neighbour's lawn Much time was wasted consulting with them, ultimately I found another builder and got a wonderful deck and ramp as a result This time I have trouble with downspouts, year old eaves and now the year old soffits There were no timely call backs as promised so I had to recontact them Eventually someone did make an appointment to assess but at that time I had only mentioned the downspouts and connections to the house I am guessing the job was considered too small but no one bothered to inform me of this thus further wasting my time No one came at the time of the agreed upon assessment and no one from the office made a follow up call I was surprised they were still in business after the first bad experience but after this I won't be calling them for any other renovations or repairs I have given direct feedback about their 'service' failings, if they open their emails
I've dealt with Handyman Connection a number of times, over the past 10-15 years, and I'm pleased to consider myself a "repeat customer". I recently contacted Handyman Connection, to have them tend to a number of jobs for me...replacing a leaky faucet, installing a half dozen new locksets and door handles, and also shaving down some doors, to help them open and close more easilly. The woman who initially answered the call, Marlene, is always pleasant, and courteous....creates a very positive first impression, as she takes down the relevant information, then makes arrangements for a contractor to follow up The next day, Garth, one of their "Handymen" contacted me, and we made arrangements as to when he would come to my home, to deal with the various jobs. When he did come around, he told me up front what the cost would be. He was very pleasant and polite...nice, quiet kind of guy, not at all brash or pushy. He tended to the matters which needed attention, making sure that I was satisfied with the work, along the way. He even pointed out another maintenace issue, which I had been aware of but had grown complacent with, and took it upon himself to make the necessary repairs. I already know that I have a number of jobs which will need doing next year, and have every intention of specifically asking for Garth again.
