Ms. [redacted] came to [redacted] LLC inquiring if we would install a part she had purchased from an outside source. She then informed me that it was the neutral safety switch on...

her Ford Ranger and requested an estimated price. She was quoted one hour of labor at $80/ per hour. She also requested a ride to her home so that she did not have to sit in the waiting room. As per her request, she was given a ride home, and the service she requested was performed. When I asked her the reason for replacement Ms. [redacted] stated she was told by someone that it needed to be replaced. Ms. [redacted] supplied the neutral safety switch and never requested [redacted] LLC to perform diagnostics nor, were we informed of any preexisting problem.
While my technician was pulling Ms. [redacted]'s Ford Ranger into the service bay he informed me of an issue with the steering column stating “the column felt very loose”. After the service was performed, Ms. [redacted] was picked up at her home and brought back to [redacted] LLC. Ms. [redacted] was informed of the issue with her steering column and she acknowledged she has known about the issue.
A few days later Ms. [redacted] returned, driving her Ford Ranger, to [redacted] Auto LLC. stating there was an issue with the vehicle starting. At that time, I had my technician inspect the neutral safety switch for proper installation; he found no issues. When I informed Ms. [redacted] that the neutral safety switch was properly installed she stated that it did not resolve the problems she was having with the vehicle. I then asked Ms. [redacted] if she would like us to perform diagnostics on her vehicle. Ms. [redacted] declined to have [redacted] Auto LLC diagnose the starting issue with her vehicle. I then informed Ms. [redacted] if she would like us to diagnose the issue that it would cost $80.00. Ms. [redacted] then left the shop.
Ms. [redacted] returned later that evening, stating that my technician told her that he would come get her vehicle from her home. She then stated it was not right that I wanted to charge her to diagnose the issue with her vehicle. I told her that time is money, and if she wanted us to find the problem that she would have to pay for the diagnostic time. In an attempt to deescalate the situation I offered to refund Ms. [redacted] the monies she spent to have the neutral safety switch installed. Ms. [redacted] then became hysterical stating she was a disabled Veteran. When I informed her that I am also a disabled Veteran, she stated she was going to report me to the, and stormed out.
The following day I spoke with my technician regarding Ms. [redacted]'s claims that he would pick up her vehicle. He informed me that she asked him to come get her vehicle, and he told her that she needed to speak with me in the office to schedule any diagnostic repairs and the costs associated with the work. She then left without coming into the office at that time.
