Richmond City Marine Reviews (1)

Review: 1. Boat turned in to Richmond City Marine LLC on 1 July 2013 for floor and carpet replacement, 2 replacement seats, addition of 1 bench seat, repair of fuel gage, and unwinterize the motor. [redacted] was the one who wrote the estimate 2. Paid $850 deposit (50% of the estimate), with the balance due upon completion of work. 2. Boat was to be completed by the end of July 2013. 3. I called the first week of August 2013 and the phone went to voicemail; made repeated attempts and left several messages over the next week. 4. Had family member drive to business and check on boat (the 2nd week of August). Once she arrived at the business, she noticed my boat had not been moved and no work had been started. I had her call me and put [redacted] on the phone. 5. [redacted] promised he would put my boat in the bay that afternoon and begin work, he stated the boat would be ready in 2 weeks (this would have been the end of August 2013). He stated that he had been out of the office for a couple of weeks and apologized. 6. The last week of August, I attempted to call the business again to check on the status of my boat. I left several messages and did not receive a return call. 7. Sent family member back to the business to check on the boat; the boat had not been moved and work had not been started. I had her call me once she arrived and put [redacted] on the phone. 8. [redacted] stated he was 'sorry', I told him it was unacceptable that he had had my boat for most of the summer and did not start the work or contact me stating it could not be done or needed to be delayed. I told [redacted] I would pick up my boat and wanted my cash deposit back. I had arranged to pick up the boat from them on 30 August 2013. 9. The morning of 30 August, I contacted [redacted] and told him I would be delayed and might not be able to pick up the boat until Saturday, 31, August. He stated he was not in the office anyway and was not sure if he would make it back to the office on 30 August, but stated he would be there on Saturday, Sunday and probably Monday (2 Sept). I made a few more calls that day to let him know I would be there Saturday, 31 August. The phne went to voicemail and my calls were not returned. 10. Saturday, 31 August, I made several calls while on my way to Richmond City Marine LLC, the phone went to voicemail. Once I got there the office was locked I made a few more attempts to call him. 11. I looked inside my boat and the keys to my boat were on the floor of the boat, my battery (which was new) was replaced with a Toyota car battery. The lock I provided to secure my boat was not on the boat trailer. My boat had been left in the rain, unsecured with the battery exposed to the elements. 12. I placed a lock on the boat and left a note on the door for [redacted] to contact me to return my deposit when I pick up my boat.Desired Settlement: I want my deposit of $850 returned, my battery replaced with a new marine battery and compensation for the loss of use and the repeated trips to the business.
