Another Fastrack 385 seam failure
Mine is a little over 4 years old now, always stored deflated inside and only used a few times a year. Took it out with my dog for a paddle on the lake. A mile from shore a seam let go and fortunately was able to make it back the last mile with a flat tube. It was difficult and had a bad pull to the left. Will not be buying another Sea Eagle as this seems to be a common issue. Will try to repair myself but will keep it close to shore. Lucky that My dog and I made it back safely as we are in a remote area. Sad that their warranty period is timed so closely to time of failure and the offer to purchase another one at a discount is not worth it.

another leaking seam
I have communicated and stated that my seam leaks on my Sea Eagle 385. I was told for $900 I could get another one. I rejected the offer. Why would I spend a total of $1900 to get one boat that will likely leak!

375fc: Structural failure beginning
I've had my 375fc for over 9 years without incident. Now, the outside grey braces that attach the cross aluminum planks to the pontoons are developing cracks. The boat is stored either in my garage during summer months, or in an under-house storage location with no light to affect the boat. I store the boat partially uninflated to relieve stress of keeping the pontoons full. The only explanation I have is the inflated pontoon puts more stress on the outside braces, which then causes cracks. The result is the pontoon pops out of the brace track, and if not careful, the pontoon will roll under the boat. I've attempted on numerous occasions this summer to contact seaeagle for replacement braces, but as others have noted, they are not responding.

Bad seams prone to fail
After 4 yrs 385 fast track has multiple fails in seams.I know of plenty of 20+ yr old zodiacs and Avons roaming around marinas ,always left in full sun, still afloat.A fellow on You tube was claiming how generous sea eagle was in offering to sell him a new boat at discount after his 4yr old boat failed.I, on the other hand, dont think he should be satisfied with the seams coming apart. Now he is going to cement the leak himself not taking into account that if one seam failed one should not rely on the integrity of the others. He may get himself into a lot of trouble if he should venture far from shore.I have two other boats from sea eagle...a razor and a stand up board..im hoping as time passes im not going to have to junk those also. A message to potential purchasers...BE WARE

Non-responsive customer support.
I have an issue with some of the glued seams coming unglued. I tried emailing but received no response. We later called for advice. They said to attach a reference number and send pictures through email to them. Did that as well. Still not a word of response or help. I enjoy the boat. The company is very unprofessional unfortunately.

SE9
Purchased a Sea Eagle 9 in June 2020. Nice boat, I guess. I cannot use it because in AZ I need a bill of sale signed by the seller, Sea Eagle, in order to register it. I have emailed the form to Sea Eagle several times with no response. Called several times too busy to answer. It is now July 23 and I have a boat and motor and all the necessary stuff to go but we can't go.
Too busy to take care of customers. SAD. Typical I guess these days. Have it made in China and here it is don't bother us again.

I have a FastTrack kayak since 2013...after using it about 40 times, the seam of an air chamber failed.Impossible to repair the companysaid. My kayak is finished...More than 1000$ in the garbage.
The contact at [email protected] proposed me to buy a new one instead.
They told me that I was the first to complain...really?...take a look:

I bought the 385 Fast Track with the Pro package and an electric pump with the battery pack in 2013, delivered to Luxembourg where I usually reside. I transported it to Greece in a place called Kalamata where I spend my holidays.
Everything worked perfectly up to August 2016 when part of the seam in one of the main chambers opened (10 cm) because the pressure increased due to high temperature . I repared it in a local professional boat expert and we tested it and everything looked fine again.
This year however I experienced a total disappointment because during the first exposure to the sun another part of the seam opened although I had not put much pressure (2,9 instead of the recommended 3.2)! What is worse, is the fact that the entire seam looks defected and can be opened easily like a toy.
Nothing to do about it, so we decided to throw everything away. It is too risky to paddle away (about 5 miles and return) in deep sea waters.
It is really a pity because up to last year we were very happy and were enjoying with my wife our daily excursions in this beautiful corner of the Mediterranean for about a month.
My understanding is that this kayak is not appropriate for so high temperatures and too salty waters! While the material is really strong and resistant this is not true for the seams! And it has too many seams on the main chambers! I would love a kayak that does not have seams or one with minimal and reinforced seams!
The other disappointment is about the battery pack: it stoped charging this year! So, the only way to use it is through the cables connecting to the battery of the car! I looked for buying a new battery pack but I could not find (or they do not deliver outside the US).
Overall I would say that I enjoyed it for 3 years, and I was proud of it, I was even advertising it and suggesting to many tourists who were asking me how much it costed and where I bought it, etc...
The bottom line however is that it is probably not appropriate for the ...Mediterranean sea... which is exposed to high temperatures!

… Recently the 385 developed a leak in the port side chamber. I could not reach it to repair as the leak was in the very front. I called Sea Eagle and talked to a representative. He looked up when I had purchased the 385. I had purchased it 2 1/2 years ago. The warranty is for 3 years. Sea Eagle sent me a new 385. They really stand behind their product. I am even a bigger fan now.

Leaking seam on FastTrack 385ft
ByIronmanon September 20, 2017

I am owner of FastTrack 385ft that I bought 4 years ago and I took the kayak while I was on vacation on a lake. While I was getting the kayak ready one of side chamber started to release air and it turned out that it was not a physical damage, and the original glue on the seam was not holding anymore, at this point my overnight fishing trip was over. I was lucky it did not happened in the middle of a lake. I have to admit I was very disappointed that such high end $1100 kayak ( I would think) would have such short usage time. The kayak has always been kept inside house in closet, clean and dry after every trip. I have not used it a lot maybe 2-3 times a year, and it was good to have it when I needed it. That's why I invested in this inflated kayak so I can save on storage space etc. Right now I have zero confidence in this product and I feel bad because I recommend it to two friends who bought such kayak. I cross my fingers it will not happen to them. After contacting Sea Eagle they said that "Unfortunately seam leaks are not repairable, if you attempt to repair it will continue to leak or split elsewhere." and offered me a replacement for $550, so this is basically buying another kayak minus the accessories that I would use from the old one. This is very expensive proposition to spend that much on kayaks every 4 years. I was hoping to last longer than that especially it is advertised to be made from military grade material etc. It hurts a little to spend that much on something that should last longer. I came a cross couple YouTube videos describing the same issue. Maybe Sea Eagle learned and improved their products, but I am not buying another one to test it out. I think I am going with good quality hard-shell kayak this time. I just wanted to share my experience with the product. Happy Trails !

And then it happened.
Just as we were slipping into our life vests, a seam on one side of the Sea Eagle kayak suddenly became unglued, and within seconds, our wonderful little boat wilted before our eyes. The staff tried to hide their sniggers as we groaned in disappointment. We tried to use the patch glue, but it was too old at this point and after sitting in storage had become nearly solidified. We did our best to ignore the stares around us as we gloomily packed our kayak up and placed it on the buggy to be returned to the hotel.

Review: The Kayak Fasttrack 385 ft, has a manufacture defect, it is leaking from the seams (not a hole on the side), and the glue is detaching. I contacted the customer service they were very prompt, and asked for the serial number or sales receipt, then we found out that it is out of warranty. So I went ahead and asked them for technical help on how to fix it, and they never replied.Desired Settlement: I think it's a major manufacture defect and the boat has to be replaced even after the warranty expires.

Sea Eagle offers a 3 year warranty and even though mine was out of warranty I contacted Sea Eagle about the seams coming apart as a manufacturing defect and how to repair it. Review: We purchase a Kayak SE370 back in July. I has been leaking air since we received it. We have tried all the things they have asked. So we are trying to return it. They first told us it would take 4 to 6 weeks to see our refund. My wife posted something on [redacted] and was contacted by a Will person from their. He then told us it should only take about a week for the refund. We told them Ok. So now they are telling us that they need to refund us our money on the credit card we used. We told them that we have closed that account and we are no longer with that bank. Will then told us that its the only way they do refunds. He then said that we can fight with the bank to get them money back.Desired Settlement: We want our full refund and we need it in a check and not put back on our credit card that has been closed.

Response:

We were first contacted by [redacted] on Saturday, August [redacted], 2013 where she spoke with a customer service member (we have limited staff on Saturday) and she left me a message on my voice mail for her to call her back on Monday afternoon between 4:00 PM, Massachusetts time. I returned her call but was unable to reach her, left her a message of my own and explained that generally a credit can take anywhere up to 30 business days based on the receiving of the product and how the banking institution reflects the credit (they may not show it to the customer until the next billing cycle). I also said that most times it is much sooner than that and between processing and the credit that it would only be about a week.

I never heard back from [redacted] until we saw her posts on [redacted]. We tried several times to again call her, left messages and even e-mailed her. She posted again on our [redacted] page where we then replied that we had been trying to reach her and to please contact me at the office directly.

We also offered to pick the boat up from the Simons at no additional cost to them which is not our general policy to do so.

The Simons made contact with me via e-mail and explained that they had closed the account and wanted a check, I informed them that our credit card processors and the banking institutions themselves warn us not to do this as it doesn't clearly reflect that a refund has been issued and leaves us vulnerable for charge-backs (which [redacted]'s initial voice mail claimed she might file). I told them to contact me if there were any concerns and [redacted] replied that he had already called the Revdex.com and that he would do so again if we did not comply with his request. He also made passing mention that they had parted ways with the banking institution all-together (which we were not made aware of previously). I then received a call from [redacted] and received a new credit card from her to process the credit.

The package was received by our warehouse yesterday on August [redacted] and their paperwork and refund should be completed on our end by Friday.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have the 435ps paddleski model sea eagle inflatable raft. It is just off of its 3 year warranty at 3.5 years. I contacted Sea Eagle because one of the pontoons was leaking air and that my pump had split open and was not pumping adequately. I could not find the leak, but did find a suspicious area in the nose cone seam that had pulled loose from the raft. They requested photos of the suspected area of the raft and of the pump and I submitted several.

Their reply was to have their technical department look at the photos and render a solution. They came back about 2 weeks later saying it was irrepairable. They offered a used raft with full 3 year warranty for $450 dollars. There was no help with the pump other than to say they would include one if I purchased another raft.

I spent $1500 for this raft with motor kit. It is now unusable. I would like potential customers to know that I only used the raft about 12 times in 3.5 years at a broken down cost to me of about $450 dollars per year to own and about $125 dollars per use. I also want to warn that, although their ads display a tough to puncture skin, customers should be aware that the glue used in sealing the joints may not last as is the case with my raft.

I would further recommend patrons study the warranty carefully and take the company up on its offer to try it for 6 months...but again, read the fine print and be sure you can get your money back if you do not like the product.

Dear [redacted]

No, Unfortunately, the dispute is not resolved, I replied to their last email, asking them on technical help on how to solve my problem and attached, photos and videos showing the problem, but they never replied.

Honestly I can't believe their level of unprofessionalism when it comes to handling their customer service.

I really don't know what to do.

I hope you can help me resolving this problem.

Thank you

Attached is a copy of my reply:

Hi [redacted],

Thank you for the offer, unfortunately I can not buy another one, knowing that the same deffect might happen again.

I already chated with [redacted] and I know that warranty is over. Please note that this is a manufacture defect since it's leaking from the seams with no trace of any wholes.

Please forward the videos to the technical department and explain to them the nature of the problem and let me know how to fix it, or provide me with a new one free of charge for the sake of your brand reputation.

It's leaking behind the logo patch along the seams, from both sides. they need to see this and provide me with a technical solution and an explanation why it happened.

Thank you and will be waiting for your reply.

The replacement price of $475 (does not include shipping, duties or taxes if shipped outside of the contiguous 48 United States) would also include a 3 year warranty against any defect.

Alternatively we would be willing to repair your kayak free of charge and only ask that you pay the shipping cost to and from our facility.

Please note that [redacted] is currently out of the office as she is representing us at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, Utah and has limited access to her office account.

Should you have any questions or concerns I request that you please contact me directly either via e-mail [redacted]) or telephone, ###-###-#### and I will be happy to assist you.

Review: My order was for a Pro Angler Guide Package. The main product a 375fc. The 375fc is an inflatable Fold Cat Pontoon Boat. Beings it's an inflatable it is suppose to hold air. Hence my complaint. Neither of the 2 pontoons held air, which I returned via UPS at a cost of $245.83. The shipping cost was to be returned to me following the complete order being returned in it's original condition. My purchase amount was refunded, but not the shipping cost of $245.83. Sea Eagle's reason for not returning my shipping cost, they claimed the pontoons did hold air. I for a fact know this is a bold face lie!!! I filled the pontoons myself. And within a few hours the pontoons had lost enough air that the pontoons were folding and creasing. The boat was purchased as a used boat guaranteed in new condition. It was sent with most the hardware missing and couldn't be assembled. I had to wait for the hardware to arrive before I could assemble and use the boat. This caused me to have to rent a different boat for my planned fishing trip, costing me additional monies and time. The sales manager, [redacted], is the individual I had phone conversations with throughout this whole nightmare. If needed, I have pictures and witnesses.Desired Settlement: I request the $245.83 UPS shipping costs refunded immediately. This is a faulty product, deserving a complete and immediate refund. Receipts available for proof of shipping costs.

Response:

June [redacted], 2013

[redacted] called our offices to inform us that the order that he placed with us was incomplete, on that very same day we expedited delivery of these parts to him at no additional charge. As an incentive to keep and enjoy the product as originally intended, [redacted] was given a free electric inflator pump (valued at $159.00) and a free mushroom anchor kit (valued at $49.00).

June [redacted], 2013

[redacted] called our offices again and requested a Return Authorization number to have all of the items sent back for refund. [redacted] claimed that the boat was leaking air, but did not indicate an exact location. [redacted] was informed that should his boat be deemed defective after an inspection at our facilities, that he would be reimbursed for standard ground shipping charges (no packaging fees, no insurance fees) through UPS or FedEx (not through third party shippers like the UPS Store which charge more money to ship packages).

July [redacted], 2013

[redacted]’s order was returned to our facility and was inflated on 7/** until 7/**. The boat was checked out daily by our technicians in our Returns Department and was found to have held air for the entirety of its inspection. Normal inspections for inflated boats are usually half that time, however since there was a claim of the boat leaking, we wanted to ensure that we gave the boat our very best attention.

July [redacted], 2013

The refund was processed (one day after inspection had completed) and was for the amount of

$1, 638.00 (the total price that [redacted] paid for his order). I would like to note that [redacted] never provided us with a copy of his receipt and that both the electric inflator pump ($159.00) and mushroom anchor kit ($49.00) were never returned and [redacted] was never charged for either of these items despite that.

To conclude, our return policy very clearly states that return shipping charges can and will only be refunded if the item in question is defective or flawed. The boat was properly inspected by our technicians and even our company president, [redacted] was brought in to weigh in on the matter as we wanted to ensure every possible avenue was considered when looking into the customer’s claim.

Unfortunately even though we did an extended evaluation for the item, it was not found to be defective in any nature and as such we feel that we should not have to reimburse [redacted]’s return shipping fees.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail or telephone and I will be glad to assist you to the best of my abilities. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

First: The anchor and air pump hasn't anything to do with the complaint. The 2 items were compensation for monies I had to spend due to Sea Eagle's incomplete order, i.e., NO hardware to put the boat together. Hence, I had incurred expenses in order to complete that weekends float trip, e.g., boat rental.

Second: Once the boat was able to be put together, I filled the 2 pontoons with the required amount/psi. of air. We went on a 3 hour float down the river. The pontoons had lost enough air that creases and kinks showed in numerous places in both pontoons. The air valves were in closed position. Pictures available upon request.

Third: I would have never sent the boat back if it held air!!

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

The moment we found out (Friday, June [redacted]) that the order was shipped incomplete we did our very best to get you the parts that you needed and as previously mentioned, free accessories (valued up to $200) which I assure you is not common practice or policy when an instance like this occurs. Although it is unfortunate that your weekend plans fell through, we were only contacted about the trip the day of/before your weekend trip with little to no-time to get you the necessary parts. Your order however was delivered to you on Tuesday, June [redacted] which if we were contacted on Wednesday or Thursday we could have gotten you the missing parts before your trip.

At this point, I'm not pointing fingers or laying blame, I'm merely trying to explain our side of the situation in that we did our best to make due of the time we were given. Of course we take full responsibility for not having the order shipped with the missing hardware which is why we did our best with getting you the parts and the incentive accessories.

We cannot speak for your experience in the boat, but we can speak for the condition of the boat when we received it after a full, extended inspection. The boat held air without any failures for an extended period of time and was given the fullest attention by both our technicians and the owner of the company who designed this boat. Both concluded that the hull is not defective and therefore shipping costs should not be credited as the boat was in perfect working order.

Again, we cannot speak for your own personal experience with the boat. In closing please note that we are truly sorry that you did not find your experience with Sea Eagle more enjoyable. Please feel free to reply with any further questions or concerns you may have and I will do my best to assist you.

[Your Answer Here]

Once again Sea Eagle refuses to take responsibility for their faulty product. Leaks don't repair themselves during shipping. Nor do they arrive at their destination repaired. I don't appreciate my intelligence being insulted. I know the difference between a boat that holds air and one that doesn't. This is just another case of big business manipulating the little guy. Just tell me where to send my UPS shipping receipts so this issue can be solved and my monies returned. Man up Sea Eagle! [redacted]

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

This review is meant as a FYI to potential buyers of a Sea Eagle product. I purchased a 12.6 sport runabout with all options except a bimini top. I purchased it in 2002. I have followed all the do's and do-nots. It is in like new condition. I have made two minor repairs. I have been very satisfied with the product and the company. I have just finished cleaning and getting ready to use it. Inflated to recommended pressures. Have it on a trailer. Two days after cleaning the bow and side tubes went flat. Checking for leaks I found them to be in approx. five places. All in same like areas that seem to be from the seams between bow and side tubes. They are below rope attachments. I talked to a Sea Eagle technician and he agreed that they are seam leaks. Stated that there is nothing that can be done. He also suggested a product that can be blown in the tubes that may or may not seal the leaks. I can understand the warrantee length but I am still stuck with an inflatable in perfect condition, except for seam leaks, and all the extras bought with the product. All total close to $2500. Being at the seams and not from any puncture it seems as a seam sealing failure. All leaks are identical except at 4, or 5, different locations within inches of each other. It could have possible happened just after the warrantee ran out and a person would be out of one to three thousands of dollars. Because of this it would be wise to think well about such a purchase. Again, I have been completely satisfied with the product, I would recommend the company and product to anyone but in a case such as this there should be, in some way, a way to repair rather than being told there is nothing to be done, good luck... And, I am not saying repairs, whatever they are, should be without cost. The company should expect payment for repairs, or have the customer pay for shipping both ways.Or have the item needing repair sent back to company and offer a discount on something similar, of course within reason. I may, or may not buy a Sea Eagle product again, but it wouldn't be anything with a high cost, and without extras, and accessories in "the nice to have" category

Review: This product is advertised as being able to used on "Class III" rapids. Used the raft for our family 4 times on a simple lazy river no rapids at all and was torn by floating over a rock! This raft is priced at three times its competitors due to the advertised quality. it is no better then the cheaper ones.Desired Settlement: I would really like a complete refund as the product is not as advertised however a replacement will suffice. The company "Tonya Customer Service" was completely less then helpful.

Business

Response:

The model in question (our Sea Eagle 9) has been both tested and proven for use in whitewater conditions both by Sea Eagle, retail customers, professional tubing companies and even the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years. It has also been rated for this usage by the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association who does an annual evaluation on all our Sea Eagle boats.

Class III rapids are moderately sized waves that require the user to maneuver with precision to avoid obstacles like rocks and branches on the water and to get through narrow openings between them. I say this not to question [redacted]’ expertise in paddling, but to better illustrate the environment in which the boat is used in. Even hard shelled models can become punctured and damaged in these conditions.

Based off of the photo that [redacted] sent us, the damage to his boat is completely repairable and requires a simple glue and patch job. Unfortunately damages are not covered under our manufacturer’s warranty, however we would be willing to send [redacted] a new repair kit if he no longer has the one that was supplied to him with his boat (as is standard for all Sea Eagle boats). If you would like to take us up on this offer, please feel free to do so and to contact me directly if you should so choose.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I appreciate the offer by Sea Eagle however I still believe this product was miss represented. Although true that you need to be able to maneuver a raft safely down a river the larger the rapids the more difficult. I have been rafting for years and have been on many class III and IV rapids with guides in the Idaho and Californian areas. All of these trips resulted in numerous strikes on both rocks and branches. The guides are professionals and they still hit obsticals! I realize we are not comparing Apples and Apples with the quality or cost of the rafts. With that said, the raft purchased from Sea Eagle was constructed no better and performed no better then a $100 Big 5 raft! I made the decision to purchase this raft for family to have years of safe rafting. I made the decision to pay the higher cost due to the advertising and it did not live up to the expectations listed. It's claim to be able to go down Class III White Water Rapids would only be true if in fact you were able to keep clear of any and all obstacles. With this being the case, ANY raft or pool float would suffice!

With Sea Eagle charging three and a half times their competitors ($350 VS $100) and advertising their superiority I believe they need to provide a better product or advertise it differently.

I still request a refund or at a minimum, replacement of the damaged product.

I have been extremely patience with this company and they have been misleading in both their advertising and now with the settlement they agreed on. If they fail to act quickly I will be seeking legal action as this company is making a mockery of both customers and the Revdex.com!
