I am [redacted]. Owner of Richs Auto. The car came in with complaint of water blowing out of coolant cap. We verified this and determined that the head gasket was blown. Called customer and told her of our finding. We had discussed price prior. She said fix it.   We pulled head and sent it...

to the machine shop. When we pulled head I could see that the head gasket was blown between #1 and #2 cylinders. I could tell because the pistons were steam cleaned by the water running through the cylinder. The machine shop confirmed our finding and  cleaned,  surfaced, and pressure tested the head. The valves tested good. We installed the head and car ran well. It idled in the shop for 30 minutes without overheating. We then ran the car for about ten miles at 55 mph. Again no overheating. I called customer and she picked it up. She did call and say it was overheating. I had already told her to have the radiator power flushed at another shop with the right machine, due to the high amount of stop leak or head gasket repair junk in engine. I then thought to ask my guy if he ran the AC when he test drove it. He said no. So I asked her to run it without AC on in case that was causing the problem. I did at that time say “I did not know what else to tell her”. She never called back. The Dad came in a few days later and told me of the water pump problem. I felt bad and gave him a $100 to help him with repair. So we missed the water pump, and never got the chance to repair car.  However, it may have been working while we had it. They have impellers on them that can slip. Her statement is not true that head looks old. It had been sand blasted and power washed at the machine shop, so it does look new. She must be looking at the valve cover and thinks it is the head.  I have a receipt to prove it. Her statement that we did nothing is not true. Again I have receipts to prove all the parts I bought. New head bolts and head gasket set were installed on the car along with new timing belt. I will await your response.
