I began utilizing the service department for my Lexus Rx400h since the location was better for me vs the Lexus dealership off Peachtree IndustrialAt first, the service department was amazingThey took great care of my car and the prices were very reasonable
Then it all changed, ironically, at the same time they did a computer system overhaul and redesign of their shopI brought my car in for an oil change at 85k miles and surprise, they realized I needed a new water pumpTo replace the water pump they would need to remove my engine, so doing the replacement of the timing belt would save me on my 90k mile serviceOf course I agreed and paid the $1,billThen I brought my car in for the 90k mile service expecting a significant savings since I already took care of the major components during my last visitAgain, surprise! I now needed a new radiator (even though I only drive my car locally and have had no issues with overheating, etc.) and my oil pan was leaking (essentially it was a damaged seal but replacing the whole component was only $more)I decided to trust them because up to this point they have provided excellent service$later my radiator was replaced but I decided to wait on the oil panAfter dumping almost $2,into my car that has less than 95k miles, I decided to get a second opinionI am so glad I did! I took it to a speciality mechanic near my house that deals strictly with Toyota and Lexus modelsAfter assessing my car for free, I was told that there was nothing wrong with my oil panThey explained that the Rx's engine is placed sideways in the car to accommodate the hybrid systemIn front of the engine block is an oil compartment and the radiator is in front of thatThe cover for the oil compartment is designed so that the radiator and engine block is protected from an oil splatterMakes sense to meHe also said that when an oil change is performed they are to clean this cover compartment to avoid any backup issues down the lineSurprise, they never cleaned the unitSo what was determined as a seal leak was them being lazy about the oil changeOf course now my wheels are turning and I'm guessing there was nothing wrong with my radiator either
To top things off, while my car was being inspected for the radiator issue, I had received a $credit to my account from the service managerThey had bungled my service by not looking at my car within the timeframe quoted and took over hours because they essentially forgot to even work on itWhen I came in to collect on it, I was told they had no idea about the credit and it wasn't in the systemThey still wouldn't honor it even though I showed them my last receipt with the signature and details from the managerNeedless to say, save your money and NEVER go to this shopThey will lie to you, tell you that service is required when it's not, and will bilk you out of hundreds of thousands of dollars!
