Rick Morrison

We hired Rick Morrison, an independent contractor, to remodel our kitchen and laundry room floor including new cabinets & countertops, flooring, ceiling, etc. For his labor we paid approximately $10,000.

Less that a year after final payment, we began to have some serious issues with the quality of the work. We sent him a letter and pictures which verified the problems listed here:

1. Empty gap between the cabinet and the dishwasher allowing cold air to enter
2. Spots on cabinet finish that are unsightly
3. Split, damaged baseboard reinstalled over flooring in laundry room
4. Nails placed in laminate wood on floor
5. Several gaps in laminate flooring throughout the kitchen & laundry room (The pictures we sent
only represented a sampling of the problems.)

We let him know that for the nearly $10,000 we paid for his labor and our additional expense of materials, we were by no means satisfied. The problems are conspicuous and unsightly.

There remain numerous problems as we have listed above that need his attention. However, the one facet of this entire project that we requested be addressed is the entire installation of the floor. We made it clear that it would need to be replaced and new flooring properly installed. We told him we would hire someone else to do this. The resolution we were asking from him was a refund for the cost of the flooring ($500) and his labor ($1320.). That would be a total of $1820 refunded to us.

We did not ask that he address any of the other many workmanship issues.

We sent Rick Morrison a letter; we waited for a response to no avail. Finally, a series of text messages from me to him resulted in his adamant refusal to give us the refund that would resolve the issue. He simply defended his work and told us to "contact who ever you need to."

Our purpose for filing this complaint is to protect others from Rick Morrison's unprofessional dealings with customers and his refusal to address unsatisfactory workmanship.
