Rick's AirGun Repair Reviews (1)

29 June 12
Dear Arizona Revdex.com –
Re.: Complaint ID# [redacted] In response to the reply from [redacted] at [redacted]’s Airgun Repair:
[redacted]’s assertion: “… customer paid for a reseal job and expected new gun(s).”
Fact : I spoke with [redacted] and told him that I had some [redacted] air rifles manufactured in the 1960s and they would pump and hold some pressure, but would not hold complete pressure. I asked what [redacted] would charge to bring the air rifles back to holding full air pressure.
[redacted] assertion: “… guns were in very bad shape …. needed more time and parts than originally agreed upon …”
Fact : Both air rifles would hold some pressure and shot OK, just not anywhere near full pressure. The triggers were easy to pull. The stocks were solid and a bit rough from years of “fond memory building” use. I explained ALL of this to [redacted]. He had the opportunity to call me back and explain a price increase based on his assessment of the rifle’s condition. He never called me back. In fact, his response to the Revdex.com Arizona was the first time he had ever stated that my air rifles were in “ … very bad shape …”.
[redacted]’s assertion: “I tried to explain this to the customer, but he tuned me out.”
Fact : [redacted] NEVER called me regarding his assessment of the air rifles’ condition. In fact, I had to follow-up with him because the repairs were taking far longer than he had promised. [redacted] told me that the delay was caused by some family or personal medical situation. He also mentioned that he slowed down his repairs in the summer due to the extreme heat in Arizona.
[redacted]’s assertion: “ … customer returned the guns to me …”.
Fact : Yes, I did return both air rifles to him. One rifle would not hold any pressure and the other air rifle’s trigger was so stiff, I could not keep the rifle on target when pulling the trigger!
When [redacted] called me he stated that he found that he had placed one part in either backwards or upside down and that was the reason that air rifle would not hold air. [redacted] said the stiff trigger would resolve itself once I started shooting the air rifle. (It did not.)
[redacted]’s assertion: “… they shot fine both times I sent them back …”
Fact : Really!? How does an air rifle that will not hold pressure shoot “fine”? (See Fact above.) Also, after his 2nd repair, my son and I took the rifles to shoot and one rifle fired as soon as the safety was turned to the ”fire” position WITHOUT THE TRIGGER BEING TOUCHED!! A VERY dangerous situation. Had my son not been well practiced in handling rifles, and not had his rifle facing the target before moving the safety lever, either he or I could have been badly injured or killed.
[redacted]’s assertion: “… I was not sure if the tunes (tune-up) would hold up …”
Fact : When I spoke with [redacted] and told him ALL the particulars regarding the age and condition of these air rifles, he NEVER expressed any concern regarding his ability to rebuild these air rifles. Nor did he ever express any functionality or longevity concerns with me. Had [redacted] expressed such concerns up front, I would have found a competent airgun gunsmith and I never would have sent my air rifles to him.
[redacted]’s assertion: “I reimbursed $40 for freight and $40 in cash. Customer called and said he did not receive cash.”
Fact : [redacted] did both. When I received the box containing the 2 air rifles, the 4 X $10 bills were in an envelope included in the wrapping paper at the opposite end of the box I had opened. I was speaking with [redacted] on the phone, inquiring as to the $40, when I told him I did, in fact, finally find the $40. It is incredibly disingenuous for [redacted] to state he “… began to distrust customer …” when he knew he had placed the envelope in with the packing paper AND that I had verified that I did receive the money!
[redacted]’s assertions: “ … suspected he had tampered with them …”.
Fact : Had I had ANY knowledge as to how to repair these air rifles, I would have performed the work myself! Such a statement, followed by his “distrust” statement above, indicate a person that is not willing to accept that he did a poor job.
In conclusion, I can only state that [redacted] of [redacted]’s Airgun Repair provided me with terrible repairs and worse customer service. [redacted] has misrepresented the truth and has refused to make good on his poor repairs. I will do all I can to ensure that my experience is recorded in his business profile with Revdex.com Arizona.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
