Mike did an excellent job replacing defective parts in our bathrooms. He explained the problem in a professional manner and we were able to make a decision without any sales pressure. Mike has a great personality and I would recommend him to friends and family.

I had no hot water and my furnace was kicking on and off constantly. I decided to call Rick's because they were on the website for my furnace brand. I AM SO GLAD I DID!
First of all, they were able to send someone out the very next morning. Second of all, the service pro they sent was AWESOME. Dan P[redacted] was pleasant, explained everything to me, and was efficient and organized. I could tell he knew what he was doing. He blew the previous people I've had servicing the furnace out of the water.
My repair was pricey but I knew that what he was taking care of was taken care of right. I won't hesitate to call Rick's again for my furnace, and will surely use them for any plumbing needs I have in the future. They have gained my business for sure.

Scott form Rick's Plumbing Service showed up on time as scheduled. He evaluated the job and gave me two prices one to repair (lower $) and one to replace (higher $). I choose the repair and he was neat, cleaned up when done. I recommend Scott from Rick's Plumbing.

[redacted] from [redacted] I've been using Rick's for years, being introduced through a friend who used him in the barter system. I am not a barter account. The repair service has been very good, prices have been fair, they are prompt to come over, they don't over diagnose or find worse-case to repair unneeded projects, and if the issue persists they have come back and re-examined it at no charge. I am comfortable using them.

We have been using Rick's Plumbing Service since 2001. They are always prompt, professional, and leave the job clean. Danny installed a new reverse osmosis filtration system, dedicated faucet, and new sink basket today. We recommend Rick's to anyone in the Milford CT area who needs a plumber.

Our experience with Rick's Plumbing Service has simply been excellent. On two separate occasions service personal arrived promptly as scheduled, took time to fully assess the problem and presented cost effective alternatives. The quality of service was excellent with neat & clean pipe joinery work, that solved our problem/s. Cost for service was very reasonable. We would not hesitate to use Rick's Plumbing Service in the future.

Mike did a great job! Very sharp and worked out a difficult problem! I would recommend Rick's Plumbimg for any job, big or small!!

Working with Ricks Plumbing Service has always been a positive experience. Juliette ,who answers the phone and questions so expertly,is lovely and personable. Her follow up is fantastic. Mike came and installed a new water heater for us the other day . He was pleasant and productive and his timing was excellent. I love how they wear clean rubber shoes in the house so they don't bring in the snow. He was even solicitous of our dog! He gave us a price for the job and honored that price. I never hesitate to call Ricks. All there workers are professional and reliable ...

Review: To Whom It May Concern:I am hereby initiating a formal complaint against Ricks Plumbing Service (RPS) of Milford CT for non receipt of services rendered. On April 7th I contacted RPS to get an estimate to fix a leaking shower faucet in my 86 years old senior mothers home. I have used this company many times before and thought I could trust them however, that was not the case. First problem, I was not informed upfront that there would be an initial fee to get this estimate which is very poor customer service. The technician showed up first thing and I proceeded to explain what was going on and what I wanted done. He initially advised me that my current faucets were in bad shape which I already knew. Next, he did not listen to me and tried unsuccessfully to sell me on installing a very expensive one handled shower fixture to which I said I was not interested and could not afford. Next, he took off the faucets and attempted to clean them. At this point, I knew there would be problems because the original faucets were so old and no longer fixable. I told him I wanted to install the same faucets that were originally on there. While he did manage to stop the leak he in turn did something terribly wrong and I was unable to get the hot water to stay on. I went to their office the next day and complained to the owner telling him I felt I was over charged. However, at that point all he did was write on my invoice to take $75.00 off my next work order. Initially, that was fine until I thought about it then realized that the initial problem was still not resolved to my satisfaction. Furthermore, I had to go out buy the parts I wanted, hire and pay for another plumber to fix the mess RPS left behind. Because of this companys substandard and shoddy workmanship it has now cost me twice as much to fix the same problem. I paid this company $206.00 for absolutely nothing but more problems and want a full refund issued and will not settle for less. I should not and will not pay two different people to fix the same simple problem. I also will never do business with this company again as they have violated my trust and for that they have lost a valuable and loyal customer.Desired Settlement: Full Refund

Dear Revdex.com,

In regards

to complaint #1003281

Mrs. Wellner

18 Canterbury

Ln.

Milford, CT 06460

Mrs. Wellner has been a customer of ours since 2008. Mrs. Wellner contacted us about a dripping tub/shower

faucet at 18 Canterbury Ln. in Milford, CT.

When we book a call we let all of our customers know that there is a

$75.00 charge to come out and diagnose the problem and if we do a repair the

$75.00 fee is waived. We then try to

give an upfront price if we can. If we

can't give an upfront price we let them know our hourly rate is $135.00 an

hour. This price is also mentioned at

the time the call is booked.

Our service tech, Scott, diagnosed the problem and brought

to Mrs. Wellner’s attention that the diverter was very old and that it may be

difficult to repair. He suggested that

the old diverter be cut out and changed to a new single handle diverter that was

pressure and temperature balanced. This

new valve would provide safety for her elderly mother. Mrs. Wellner stated that she wanted to replace

the diverter with the same diverter that was there, however, we could not

replace the diverter that was there with the same diverter because it doesn't

meet code. So our tech discussed the

other two options with her. One option was get a rebuild

kit for the valve; in that case he would have had to go to get parts and

return. She did not want him to do that.

The last option was to replace the

gaskets on the original stem but he told her that we could not guarantee that

it would work due to the age of the valve. She gave me the go ahead to try that fix.

He proceeded to shut the water off to the house also making Mrs.

Wellner aware that the shut off valve was old and should be replaced soon, possibly

when we replaced the water heater. He explained

to her that because of the age of the valve it may not hold or might not open

back up. We explain this to all of our customers

with older shut off valves before closing them.

He then took the diverter apart and found that the washers were broken

and partly missing. He replaced the

washers with new washers, greased the stems and put the diverter back together. He turned the water on to the house and

tested the diverter. The drip had

stopped and the diverter seemed to be working properly.

Mrs. Wellner came into our office later to complain about

the price for the repair. I explained to

Mrs. Wellner that we would give her a coupon for $75.00 off her water heater

installation that we had already given her a price for. We were working on getting her financing for

the water heater because she couldn't afford to pay it all upfront. When she came into the office, Mrs. Wellner

never stated that the repair wasn't working and that hot water wasn't coming

out of the diverter or the hot water wasn't staying on. If she would have said there was another

problem or felt there was the same problem we would have gone back and tried to

remedy the situation. We have been in

business since 1992 and pride ourselves on making sure our customers are

satisfied.

We have serviced Mrs. Wellner four times in the last six

years. I would hope she has been

satisfied with ours services each and every time and that’s the reason why she continued

to call us back.

In Closing, if Mrs. Wellner told us about the continued

problem I would have sent Scott back. I

can’t make my customers satisfied if I don’t know there is a problem. Being a fair business man I reduced the price

of Mrs. Wellner’s future water heater installation by $75.00 when she

complained about how much our service cost.

I can't refund Mrs. Wellner her money because I wasn't given

a chance to resolve the problem. The

fact that she hired another contractor to fix the problem was her own decision. I'm sorry Mrs. Wellner feels she was mistreated, but I assure you it wasn't our goal.

Thank You

Richard G Jurzyk, Jr.

Response:

Mrs. Wellner,

As I stated before we have done work for you several times over the 6 years and you were charged an hourly rate every time. I can understand you being confused as to what our rate might be because it has gone up over the years but there was going to be a fee. The $75.00 diagnostic fee is always waived if you agree for us to do the work. This has been our policy for several years now. After agreeing to do the work is when the hourly fee becomes effective.

Second, I find it hard to believe you would have known what rebuild kit to go and buy. My tech is stating that you never offered to go and buy anything. One of our options was to leave and go purchase a rebuild kit and we gave you a ballpark of about how much that might be. You declined that offer and the only suggestion left was to replace the washers on the existing stems. If you knew you needed a rebuild kit than I ask why you hadn't purchased it before us coming out to do the repair.

As far as, the extra work on the water main our company policy is to educate our customers of a potential problem. The water main shut off valve is the first place a homeowner would go in the event of the emergency to shut the water off to the house. When an old valve doesn't work or hold it can mean thousands of dollars in damage. We try to make sure all of our customers have a good reliable water main shut off valve. We also point this out before we ever shut an old valve because there isn't a guaranty the valve will open back up. This is so you are aware of the situation. You were made aware of the valve’s potential problems with no obligation.

Lastly, we ultimately want all of our customers to be satisfied and we take our reputation in the community seriously so we will refund you the $131.00 that you feel will make this right. Please know this though; I have a dedicated person in my office to answer the phone and book calls and an answering service to take my calls after hours. I go out of my way to return all of my calls. Returning calls I take very seriously as it is the lifeblood of my company. I did not receive a call from you. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day and coming to my office to discuss your problem. I thought we had resolved the issue by applying a discount on the water heater you needed changed out. If there was still a problem and I never called you back after visiting my office, than why not stop back by to discuss the problem further?

I will consider the matter resolved and I will send you a check in the mail. There will be no discount applied to any future work done to replace your water heater.

Thank You

We had our second plumbing emergency handled smoothly and professionally today.
On both occasions Rick's plumbing sent technicians who are courteous, articulate, and highly skilled.

I found Rick's Plumbing through the Energy-Saving Website online. I was in need of a plumber to come out to hook up our new gas fireplace. Scott did a great job! He was so kind and sweet to have in my home. His work was very thorough and he worked so neatly in my home (which I really liked a lot!). Great experience and I would use this company again.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the service we receive from Scott at Rick's Plumbing. He is on time, courteous, personable and skilled. He has fixed our plumbing a few times now and we are so satisfied with his service, we won't go anywhere else.

Excellent service!! Very prompt and trustworthy. They were able to solve my problem even though our system was old and required older parts. Great to talk to and didn't make me feel stupid when explaining the issue and how things needed to be fixed. Will definitely use Ricks again with future issues!
