Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/03/01) */
We at Ride Auto never like receiving these type of letters but do appreciate the Revdex.com in bringing this matter to our attention
The customer did call us last week and we tried to resolve this matter but we were not successful because the
customer
wants to return the vehicle and unwind the sale that was announced , Salvage title, frame damage, right side door damage selling "AS IS" and "WHERE IS"
Pictures of the damage were provided and the body shop that did the work was also provided to the customerAt the time of the sale
the customer was told who did the body work and where they are located
Customer mentioned the car was hit in the back recently, this vehicle had side damage and only doors were replacedThe body shop that
did the work was notified by us and they said the customer can bring the vehicle back and point out the issues and they would be
happy to fix it if they missed anything as the customer claimsWe did not see any issues with the vehicle, the customer who bought the vehicle didn't notice
any issues, the state of MN who inspected the vehicle didn't not find any major issues
As for the items such as the heated seats, power steering leak , bald tires and alignment we would have been happy to help out with those issues
but they were never brought up to our attention until this Revdex.com letter and after months of using the vehicle
The title delay was also something that was mentioned to the customer at the time of the saleThey were an out of state customer and needed the
title to transfer in WIWe had just inspected the vehicle by the state of MN and were waiting on the title, and we called to inform the customer
as the weeks went byThat was something we had no control over and at the time the customer understood that so I dont know why they are bring that matter up
Regretfully we decline the offer to purchase the vehicle back at $10,
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/03/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Ride Auto concealed the safety issues of the car
At the time of the sale we were shown pictures of the previous damage to the vehicle, and then taken outside to see the vehicle as it had been fixed--pretty paneling covered all the work that that had been done on itThere were no pictures shown to us of the work that had been completed to "fix" the damageThere was no way we would have known that the repair work underneath the paneling was shoddyIt does not signify that we were given the name of the repair shop that completed the repairsWould they have said, "Yes, we did a substandard job that would kill a passenger riding in this car"? No
The only way we could have known about the danger that the car is, is a) if Ride Auto had disclosed itRide Auto had their repair people working on the car after they received it back from the shop that did the frame repairsThey had multiple opportunities to check the status of the contracted shop's repairsThe second way b), that we would have known about the terrible job on the repairs is if the paneling was removedThis is the case in point
The person I spoke with at Ride Auto must not have been listening closelyIn the recent accident the vehicle was NOT hit from behindIt was parked in a lot, and scraped on the passenger side by another vehicleWhen that damaged paneling was removed to be replaced, we were shown the horrifying status of the previous repairsWe were told not to use the car because it is not roadworthy
Please note that the MN inspection Ride Auto refers to is NOT a safety inspectionhttps://dps.mn.gov/divisions/dvs/forms-documents/Documents/SalvageandB... I quote: "This is not a safety inspectionIt is conducted to deter fraud and theft." It simply confirms Ride Auto did not use stolen parts to fix the carIt has nothing to do with the case in point here
It was Ride Auto's responsibility to sell a safe carInstead, they either deliberately withheld information about the previous repairs, not showing us what those "repairs" looked like, or they were incompetent and did not check the status of the repairs themselvesThe second seems unlikely, as they had their own technicians working on the carEven if incompetence is the reason, that is no excuse to refuse a refundThey must accept responsibility for their actionsThere is no way we as the customer could have verified if the car was safe to drive, as it would entail ripping apart half of the repair work (removing the paneling, etc.)When they sell a vehicle, they must make sure it is roadworthyThis car would not pass a safety inspectionAs we have been deceived in its safety and usability (it is a danger to utilize), we urge the Revdex.com to protect the consumer and insist on Ride Auto reclaiming the vehicle and refunding our money
I am attaching several items documenting these statementsI attempted to upload a video that is a quick look at the terrible "repairs" done by the previous shopThe joining of inner frame to outer is all buckledThe seat support has been heated to too high of temperature, making that point unsafeAll floor on passenger side, sides, and seat support, would have to be replaced to make this a safe vehicleI will email it to the Revdex.com for posting
The second item is the estimate it would take to make to the car safe--how much needs to be replaced and repairedYou can see the extent to which the vehicle is currently unusable due to safety issues
Again, we plead with the Revdex.com to interveneThis vehicle is unsafe, and was sold to us unsafeThe information that it was not roadworthy was never told us and we had no way to acquire it prior to the sale
Additionally, in all fairness, we would be returning the vehicle to Ride AutoIt would be almost as if the original sale never happenedWe are not cheating them out of anythingThey have the vehicle back, and we have our money backThe only reason I can see for them avoiding a refund is if they know they sold us an unsafe vehicle and don't want to have to deal with it back on their lot!
We do not wish to have the body shop that did the prior repair work again work on the car (Ride Auto offers this in their previous response)That body shop has proven they cannot do anything near a good jobWe additionally are wary of Ride Auto completing or overseeing any repairsThat is the reason for mentioning the power steering, alignment, and other issues with the carThey have not been trustworthy to fix or disclose the little thingsWe cannot believe they will be trustworthy to fix this glaring safety issue
We simply cannot use a vehicle for mother, child, and father, that is dangerousWe politely but firmly continue to insist on a refund/returnPlease ensure consumer protectionThank you

Mr. [redacted]’s has made several allegations including an outstanding lien on the vehicle purchased from Ride Auto. First Mr. [redacted] purchased the vehicle on 11/25/16 Ride Auto transferred the vehicles ownership on 12/01/16. Evidence of the transfer is in Mr. [redacted] receiving new license...

plates for the vehicle on 12/02/16. Deputy 160, which handles all of Ride Auto’s title transfers did not charge a late filing fee because of the timely transfer. Minnesota Dealers are allowed to submit conditional transfers of ownership until the title is received from the previous owner. The conditional transfer was cleared on 01/04/2017, again according to Minnesota law the transfer was done on time. The reason why Driver and Vehicle Services have not issued a new title to Mr. [redacted] and the status continues to show the previous lien is due to the state of Minnesota’s delay in processing vehicle transfers. There is absolutely nothing Ride Auto can do to speed up this process, it is completely up to the state of Minnesota. Once Ride Auto submits all the necessary documents for transferring ownership it is no longer in Ride Auto’s control. Should Mr. [redacted] have an issue with the delay in receiving his vehicle’s title, we suggest contacting his state representatives and not Ride Auto. Mr. [redacted] also alleges spending $2100 on repairs. But what isn’t mentioned is the $1,000 discount received at the time of purchase. Mr. [redacted] purchased a used 2006 diesel engine truck with over 185,000 miles. It is expected that Mr. [redacted] or anyone purchasing a used vehicle with this amount of miles and years will have to spend money in the maintenance of the vehicle. Mr. [redacted] signed several documents stating the “as is” purchase and agreed that he has inspected the vehicle to his satisfaction without relaying on any statements made from Ride Auto. Although we are upset to hear the length of time it took Mr. [redacted] to receive his VA disability, Ride Auto is not responsible for the delay or has any control over VA payments. With that being said, Mr. [redacted] purchased two vehicles from Ride Auto we would have been more than willing to help with the cost of repairs but unfortunately Mr. [redacted] did not contact us and what he is requesting now is not reasonable. Ride Auto will not be able to take the vehicle back or refund Mr. [redacted]. On February 17, 2017; Mr. [redacted] called Ride Auto in regards to his title, Ride Auto’s title clerk spoke with Mr. [redacted] explaining the state’s delay in processing. Mr. [redacted] understands that this is not something Ride Auto controls and agreed to remove his complaint. The allegations Mr. [redacted] has made against Ride Auto are not only inaccurate but also damaging. Ride Auto asked that Mr. [redacted] removes his complaint like he agreed.
