Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/08/26) */
Everyone who buys a puppy from me is required to read the FAQ page on my website that includes information about parvoMrs* (not personally identifying her per Revdex.com request, although she did personally identify me in her complaint),
assured me she didI also have an extensive conversation with each family on the topic when they come for their puppy, as it is such a concern of mineAs soon as Mrs* informed me of this puppies illness, I offered to take him back and have him under my vet care at my costShe declinedI then offered to give her another puppy in replacement for him (in an effort to save this puppy), or to give her a refund, and she promptly declinedOnce her vet confirmed her puppy had developed parvo, I kept the whole litter at home and in quarantine for over a week to be sure it did not contract parvo hereNone of the littermates came down with parvoAfter Mrs* informed me about the puppy being euthanized, I contacted the clinic that cared for him and was told she removed him from the clinics care as soon as he started getting better, against their adviseThen the puppy got more sick under her care and had to come back to the clinic againI am not a vet, but facts about parvo are that once a puppies immune system is compromised, they are even more susceptible to contracting parvoAny person understands thisMost all Rottweiler puppy buyers understand the susceptibility that Rottweiler pups have to this diseaseEvery new owner leaves my home knowing thisEvidently this one either forgot, or refuses to accept responsibilityMrs* was given the deworming schedule for the puppies the day after she took her puppy homeWe talked so extensively about proper care and nutrition for the puppy while she was at my home, that I overlooked sending it home with him the day he left my posession, but we verbally went over the worming schedule that day with all the other paperwork and information I go over with families when they come for their puppyAt the end of the day, we have a dead puppy that I cared for and loved dearly since his inception, and was perfectly healthy and vet checked and clear of any issues, until I entrusted his health in someone elses handsThis is a situation that I tried to more than fairly resolve several times until I was sent a text stating to not contact her again in any way, everThat is a legally binding statement that by law I must abide byShe declined any and all of my offersI feel that I have more than fulfilled my obligations
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2014/08/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There is no FAQ sheet on her website regarding Parvo, so that is a fabricationI would love to see where she told me that, as I have every e-mail and text we ever sent each other
The breeder kept telling me that the puppy did not have Parvo and that it was my vets fault for worming the puppy she stated her was sick due to being wormedWe contacted her as soon as the puppy became illHe became ill hours after we got him homeSo we went with her opinion and then took the puppy in on Friday morning when he was tested for Parvo and tested positivesince time is of the essence we did not want to drive him for over an hour back to her placeNor did she have a puppy left that we wou;ld wantall but one female was sold already and we did not want a femaleAlso, since we had already bonded with the puppy, I did not ant to abandon him and have her taking care of him, since she refused to believe it was ParvoThis was her fault anyay for not giving us his medical records for dewormingFurthermore, the entire time she kept saying it wasn't Parvo even after the Parvo test was positiveI even sent a picture of it to her and she still would not believe ittherefore, the puppy would not have even been treated properly by herWe took the puppy home because the hour emergency vet said we couldThey said it was a mild case and we could take care of him a t homeThey also said that what happened is a typical thing with Parvo that it can be going very well and then suddenly get way worse which is what happenedthat whole litter was not kept at her house because she had already sent one home and more were going home the next dayShe didn't even know about the Parvo until Friday, so that's another fabricationshe also told us when we picked our puppy up that she had taken the puppies to Wisconsin to see the sireThe puppy came down with Parvo on Thursday and was confirmed on Fridaythe vomiting and diarrhea began Thursday morning at 3:amShe kept saying it was the worming and the vets fault and that only a virologist could diagnose ParvoShe kept saying her vet said that as wellShe talked to the our emergency vet twice and they told he as they told me, the puppy did not get Parvo from usWe also had to pay extra for a biopsy to prove it to herShe did tell me twice she would refund out money, but hasn'tI just want my money backWe have had to throw out everything we bought for him, plus pay for steam cleaning and had to bleach everything elseshe has ruined the chances of getting another puppy as well in the near futureAccept responsibility for your actions!! Our vet had just opened not even a month-brand new equipment and office with no case of ParvoThat puppy only went to the vet and we carried him the entire time! Also the breeder texted me afterwards the worming schedule; after the vet wormed the puppyI have proof of her saying it was her fault for not giving it to usSo another lie
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2014/09/11) */
In my business I deal with living thingsSometimes bad things happen to living thingsThe best comparison I can make to this situation is the human flu vaccinationThe human flu vaccination has a killed vaccine or a modified live virus already in itThe parvo vaccine has a modified live virus already in itThe connection there is that my puppies are vaccinated for parvo before they leave for their new loving forever homesThose viral particles stay in the puppy for up 15+ days! To quote the Canine Journal Top Common KParvo misconceptions January 9th 2013..."The first thing the vet will likely do is administer a Parvo testIf the test comes back positive, your vet will tell you that your dog has the virus- and, of course, will try to get you to pay a lot of money to have it treatedThe problem? A positive Parvo test does NOT always mean yout dog actually has the virusFor one thing the test is not foolproof, as claimedVets will also tell you that administering this test shortly after a dog has been vaccinated will give you a positive- hardly surprising, considering they've just infected a ton of viral particles into your pet! But there is another, more dangerous reason why the test may come back positiveThere are bacterial infections such as campylobacter that cause symptoms that are almost indistinguishable from Parvo, and the Parvo test can come back positive even though it's not actually Parvo at allThis is dangerous, because apparently this infection must not be treated in the same way that Parvo isFor example, only a small number of antibiotics (which are not the ones usally given for Parvo) will workHowever, few vets will test for this if the Parvo comes back positive, since they assume (correctly, in many cases), that Parvo is what your dog hasIf you ask for a campylobacter test, there is one available, but you will have to request one, if you think it's worth itLesson: there are other reasons for a positive Parvo test than your dog actually having the virus"
Once again, Mrs* has more than once declined my more than generous offers, and now has requested that I do not contact her, which is a legally binding statementThis has now turned into an attempt to smear my reputation publicallyI have always gone above and beyond to help my puppies in their new homes*nfortunately I feel someone is trying to find someone to blame for her lossI am just one of several that Mrs* has tried to pin blame on for this situation
This will be my last response, and I consider this case CLOSED
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 12, 2014/09/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This case is not closed no matter what you might thinkI will now take it to small claims court in ChicagoAs five vets have stated, the dog had ParvoThe biopsy was done that proved it was ParvoThe Snap test was done that proved it was Parvo, the dog died from ParvoIf you had actually read material about Parvo, you would be better equipped to protect your puppiesHere are the factsPuppies get immunity from the mother, and the first Parvo shot does not always work, because while the puppy has some immunity from the mother, it blocks the effectiveness of the the Parvo shot, but does provide enough protection to the puppyThere is a window of about a week where the puppy is not protected and you risked his health by taking him off your propertyThe vets already told you all of this, but you, the ill-informed and resistant to intelligence "breeder", will not let this sink inYou do NOT know more than the vets, and are just stalling because you do not want to refund the moneyI have all the facts and all your ignorant replies to the fact that this was ParvoI have all the records as do you, so there is no denying the truth and getting away with itYou obviously just breed ignorantly and without regard for the puppiesYou are just in it for the money and should be banned as a "breeder." Which I will work towards as we go to small claims court
