Dear Revdex.com,

In rebuttal to RifleGear’s response; My original complaint is that RifleGear advertises they sell  GENUINE “FN” AR-15/M-16 rifle barrels… period; in my continued opinion RifleGear does not. Riflegear does not even include the FN part number anywhere in their website advertising (which is #[redacted]) or on their transaction receipt.

RifleGear’s response to my complaint is misleading. Here are rifleGear’s own statements:

“The consumer's claims that we are not selling genuine FN barrels are simply false. The barrels we sell are indeed FN CHF barrels made by FN. We advertise them as such because that is what they are. We have invoices and an email from our FN sales rep that confirm we purchased CHF barrels from them without the FN markings.”

The consumer purchased the two barrels in our retail store, with cash. He returned the next day and expressed his concern about the lack of FN roll markings on the barrels. One of the managers, Nick, explained to him that these were sold to us as OEM products but were indeed made by FN. We offered him a full refund at the time since he was not satisfied, but he declined saying he wanted to keep them. He called us about a week or two later and expressed the same concerns. I again explained to him why they did not have the roll markings he was expecting and offered to send him a copy of the invoice to us from FN for the barrels. He declined, but requested an RMA for returning the barrels and I told him I would issue him a full refund.

We mailed the consumer a refund check along with a copy of an email from our FN Sales Rep confirming that we did indeed buy FN CHF barrels from them with no FN markings on them. Our FN rep, [redacted], welcomes any inquiries and provided his contact info in the email. The consumer did not provide any contact information other than a PO Box. The consumer stated via a Yelp review and private message exchange that he did not receive the initial mailing to his PO Box, so we sent another check out via Certified Mail to his PO Box. We received confirmation that he received the check and letter on 5/8/15.

In paragraph #1 RifleGear says they sell genuine FN rifle barrels, I will demonstrate why in my opinion RifleGear is lying and doing a bait and switch. A reasonable person shopping on RifleGear’s website would believe they are buying a genuine FN riffle barrel; RifleGear is saying they have invoices to prove they sell genuine FN Rifle barrels… great! HERE IS A FAST AND SIMPLE WAY FOR RIFLEGEAR TO PROVE THEY ARE TELLING THE TRUTH THAT THEY SELL GENUINE FN RIFLE BARRELS. Ask RifleGear to provide copies of their FN invoices (prior to the date of my complaint) to prove they honestly purchased and sold me and other consumers the genuine FN rifle barrels they say they sell; not some barrel that FN manufactured (OEM) for some business that is less than the FN 100% QA guarantee (FN rejects all barrels that are less than 100% perfect which includes material and manufacturing specifications).
·         HERE IS THE BARREL INFORMATION AND GENUINE FN PART NUMBER THAT FN ADVERTISES ON THE FN WEBSITE FOR THE BARRELS THAT RIFLEGEAR SAYS THEY SELL:
16” Mid Length Gas System Product Number: [redacted] (verify at this FN website).
http://www.fnhusa.com/l/products/accessories/carbines/ar-15-hammer-forged-barrel... />
·         Here is a website address of a reputable business that sells genuine FN rifle barrels. (NOTICE THE FN PART NUMBERS AND LOGO)

·         HERE IS RIFLRGEAR’S WEBSITE ADVERTISING:
http://www.riflegear.com/p-2001-fn-16-midlength-17-twist-chf-barrel-556.aspx
Please note: all of the following information was added to rifleGear’s website AFTER my complaint.
“The FN Manufacturing 16" MidLength CHF Barrel is made to stringent mil-specs for use in any M4/AR Style rifle build. Featuring a recessed muzzle crown, chrome bore/chamber and chrome moly vanadium Steel barrel made from the finest Mil-Spec steel per 11595E.These 16" MidLength COLD HAMMER FORGED Barrels are manufactured by FN use a steel and manufacturing process that is the same method used by FN to manufacture their M249 machine gun barrels. That means a high quality cold hammer forged barrel with chrome lining approximately TWICE AS THICK as a standard milspec M4 barrel. These barrels would be well suited for heavy use while maintaining exceptional longevity and accuracy. If you are looking for a no compromise, high quality, high performance barrel, look no further.FN tested.Note: These are FN OEM Barrels from FN America. They are stamped 'MP556 NATO 1/7' and are packaged in clear corrosion preventive packaging.”

As you can see RifleGear’s advertising (less new discloser and note) CLEARLY expresses they are selling genuine “FN” rifle barrels. A reasonable person would believe they are purchasing a genuine “FN” barrel according to their advertising.

IF RIFLEGEAR IS TELLING THE TRUTH THOSE INVOICES WILL HAVE THE CORRECT FN PRODUCT/PART NUMBER ON THEM … ANYTHING ELSE IS A VARIATION OF SOMETHING OTHER THAN A “GENUINE FN RIFLE BARREL!

Also in paragraph #1 Riflegear said they have an e-mail from a FN sale reprehensive. They sent me a copy of it and I had to laugh. Portions of the e-mail were redacted (blacked out) and it appeared the sales reprehensive didn’t have any working knowledge of who RifleGear was. RifleGear sells other FN rifle barrels NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE AR-15/M-16 RIFLE BARRELS; FN#[redacted].

IN PARAGRAPH #2  RifleGear  said: “The consumer purchased the two barrels in our retail store, with cash. He declined, but requested an RMA for returning the barrels and I told him I would issue him a full refund.”

What is important here is what RifleGear just said “Nick, explained to him that these were sold to us as OEM products but were indeed made by FN.”  …RifleGear just admitted they bought the barrels as “OEM” barrels which CLEARLY proves RifleGear is not selling genuine FN rifle barrels but as I have said all along that RifleGear is selling something other than genuine FN barrels! Ask RifleGear to show us those invoices they admit to having and compare what they purchased to the genuine FN part/product numbers!!!
The rest of paragraph is bogus.

IN PARAGRAPH #3 …nothing worth commenting on that I haven’t already mentioned.

I can’t emphasize enough:
IF RIFLEGEAR IS TELLING THE TRUTH THOSE INVOICES WILL HAVE THE CORRECT FN PRODUCT/PART NUMBER ON THEM … ANYTHING ELSE IS A VARIATION OF SOMETHING OTHER THAN A “GENUINE FN RIFLE BARREL!

I hope RifleGear will comply to this request.

Review: Dear Revdex.com,

My complaint is against a company named RifleGear. RifleGear knowingly advertised (and continues to advertise) and sold and continues to sell AR-15 rifle barrels to consumers that RifleGear says are made by “FN.” “FN” is FN Herstal, in Herstal, Belgium and in America they are “FNH USA LLC.” The barrels that RifleGear sells as “FN” have no identifiable proof on the barrel that they are in fact made by “FN.” Consumers, such as myself, that purchased these expensive barrels ($289.00 each) have absolutely no proof that the barrels we purchased are in fact a real “FN” barrel. Competitors that sell “FN” barrels sell barrels that say “FN” on the barrel by means of a roll mark or laser etching along with other identifiable information such as “chf” (cold hammer forged), etc. Rifle manufactures that say they build rifles with “FN” barrels use real “FN” identifiable barrels, or they say their barrels are made for them by “FN.” By RifleGear’s own admission I was shockingly told “others have also complained”; amazing! A disclaimer they added to their website after I complained about the authenticity of the barrels and their potential fraudulent business practices says “Note: These are FN OEM Barrels from FN Military. They are stamped 'MP556 NATO 1/7' and are packaged in clear corrosion preventive packaging.” First of all, I do not believe there is a company called “FN Military.” As stated above there is “FN USA LLC” and there are divisions within that organization. That being said, by RifleGear themselves, how does a consumer know that they are getting a barrel with the features they advertise (not to be confused with the various barrel profiles, lengths, weights, etc.) because RifleGear says these barrels are the same ones made for the military! What they do not tell the consumer is whose military? “FN” makes more military rifles and barrels for Militaries all over the world than anyone else, and they are NOT all the same! Just within the US Military some barrels are button rifled (non hammer forged barrel) and others are rifled using a mandrel (hammer forged barrel) because some U.S. military contracts require the barrels to be produced according to “technical data packages” (TDI’s) so not all U.S. military barrels are even the same. If they are selling FN barrels that FN manufactures for the U.S. Military which ones are they selling (there is a big difference in price and I paid a high price for a barrel I have no idea what really is? Without the “FN” logo/roll mark and other necessary identifiable information on the barrel the end user still does not know what they are paying for or if they are really getting the true high quality “FN” barrel they thought they paid for! Think of it this way; if a business sold you a new expensive motorcycle and told you it was made by BMW but there was nothing on the motorcycle to prove it was the high quality motorcycle they said it was… how would you prove its authenticity? Just because it looks like a BMW motorcycle doesn’t mean it is. AR-15 barrels are the same way; you can’t look at a barrel and tell if it is hammer forged, button rifled or rifled with a mandrel, magnetic particle inspected, high pressure tested, or what kind of steel it is made of! There are barrels that look EXACTLY the same but they cost around a hundred bucks.

I received a return authorization number from RifleGear; returned the merchandise in mint condition in a timely manner, and demanded my money be returned immediately. To date I have not received my money, or any correspondence from RifleGear.

I would like to see RifleGear return the money to everyone who purchased “so called” “FN” barrel(s) AND provide genuine “FN” barrel(s) to their customers free of charge.Desired Settlement: I contacted RifleGear and explained my concerns; RifleGear AGREED to the return of the barrels; I received a return authorization number from RifleGear; returned the merchandise in mint condition in a timely manner, and demanded my money be returned immediately. To date I have not received my money, or any correspondence from RifleGear.

Also, I would like to see RifleGear return the money to everyone who purchased “so called” “FN” cold hammer forged barrel(s) AND provide GENUINE “FN” cold hammer forged barrel(s) to their customers free of charge.

Response:

The consumer's claims that we are not selling genuine FN barrels are simply false. The barrels we sell are indeed FN CHF barrels made by FN. We advertise them as such because that is what they are. We have invoices and an email from our FN sales rep that confirm we purchased CHF barrels from them without the FN markings.
