Right Way Towing Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
I realize that there is no way to prove that Edwards' technician actually caused the failure of the IDM.  However it can be proven that his diagnosis was incorrect and that at least the main computer had not failed as I was told by [redacted] the service writer.  He did not say the main computer may have to be replaced, he said it would have to be replaced and this simply was not true.  Mr. [redacted] states that the estimate was based on the codes given and the necessary repairs for those codes.  He does not however mention the fact that it was not until his technician spoke with [redacted] here in[redacted] that he realized that only one of the codes displayed was a "good" code and the others were "false" codes.  In other words,[redacted] had to tell Edwards' technician that he was getting "false" codes and explain to him the reason for those "false" codes.  I drove my truck from [redacted] RV Park in [redacted] SC to [redacted] and back the Thursday for a game before I brought it to [redacted] for repairs.  During that Thursday and the following Friday I stopped and started my truck numerous times and probably drove it about 60 miles.  Never once did it shut off on me or fail to start.  It was merely running rough.  The check engine light was on, but that did not necessarily mean that the IDM, the valve covers & wiring harness, and the main computer were all bad.  I was never made aware of my truck "shut down" as Mr. [redacted] states.  This was told to [redacted] by Mr. [redacted] when they discussed the situation and my complaint after the fact, and [redacted] told me what was said.  I did as Mr. [redacted] stated ask his service department to not perform any more work on my truck once I had reason to doubt their diagnosis.  At that time, I had no choice other than to pay the $262.50 before I had it towed to another garage.  In other words, due to a misdiagnosis by Edwards' technician and the condemnation of the main computer of my truck which was not bad, I did not have confidence in them to perform any further work on my truck.  My truck runs great now and still has the main computer that [redacted] condemned in it.
Regards,
[redacted]

In an effort to research Mr. [redacted] complaint, I have spoken with several diesel mechanics, many who were master technicians, as well as our Ford Field Service Engineer about this situation. All agree that, in their opinion, our master technician did not cause this problem. On the contrary, the...

master technicians agreed that what our technician did was necessary and could not have damaged Mr. [redacted] vehicle. In regards to his statements suggesting our technician "substituted a faulty one to cover himself and his faulty diagnosis," it has never been our practice to replace working parts with faulty ones. That would be unethical, and against Edwards Auto Sales and Ford Motor Company practices. We would simply never do anything to risk our reputation with Ford Motor Company, nor our loyal customer base of over 50 years. Our estimate to repair Mr. [redacted] vehicle was based on the codes given, and the necessary repairs for those codes. It is our policy to present estimates based on the full, expected cost of repairs. If, in the process of repairs, our technician found the repairs could be completed for less, the final bill would reflect a lesser amount. In regards to Mr. [redacted] statement, "both my mechanic and the mechanic who made the final repairs said that I wouldn't have been able to drive my truck to Edwards if the injector driver module was bad," when the work order was written up, the check engine light was on and the vehicle was running rough, and the engine did, in fact, shut down when pulling into the shop. Mr. [redacted] was made aware of the shutdown and gave permission to the technician to remove the valve covers, inspect and perform tests. When presented with the estimated cost of repairs, Mr. [redacted] declined those and expressed his wishes to have his truck towed to a different service station for repairs. Our technician performed the tests he was given permission to perform. Mr.[redacted] paid for those services. The total cost for our technician's time and labor was $262.50, which Mr[redacted] paid. His truck was towed to a different service station, per his request.
