I received a letter from you last week regarding a customer complaint from *** *** (Complaint ID: ***)In his complaint, *** claims that he received four bags of our Truffle-Soldier Beef Jerky and all of these bags contained mold inside of themReports like this are of the utmost
concern to us, so we immediately responded to learn more about the issue and provide a solution to the dissatisfied customerYou can read our entire email exchange in the PDF document I've attached to this letterYou will clearly see that we did all we could to gather the important information from *** to learn If we had a "one-off' mold issue, or if there was a more systemic issue with the particular batch of productWe don't receive quality complaints often, but when we do, we take them very seriously and act quickly on them protect the customer, other consumers that may be affected by the issue, and our reputationIn our effort to learn more and rectify this issue for ***, it became clear that it was a bogus claim in an attempt to receive free product from Righteous Felon, LLC.I welcome you to read the attached email correspondence and come to your own conclusions as to whether this is a valid claim or not, but the red flags that we discovered were as follows, in the order in which they unfolded:1)*** initially agreed to send the products back for inspection/replacement, via a prepaid shipping label that we provided himOnce that free shipping label was provided, he became hostile and said he refused to send the product back for no apparent reason besides the fact he didn't trust us or didn't trust the United States Postal Service.2)We asked *** to tell us where he purchased the product or where his aunt {the gifter) bought the productWe did this so we could reach out to the retailer and inform that they there may be an issue with the product they receivedHowever, we found it odd that our product would turn up in ***'s hands, in the state of Oregon, because we have no retailers in that state (or region) and fulfilled no online orders out to that area that included the flavor of product that *** claims to have receivedHe could not tell us where the product was purchased and advised that his aunt wouldn't answer him.3)*** refused to send photos of the affected products, after numerous requests - specifically for the packaging of the bags affected and the sell by dates on the back of the packageFinally, after he realized that we weren't going to issue a refund or replacement without some sort of proof of purchase, *** sent us photos that he claimed as his own, but in actuality, they were photos downloaded directly off our websiteThis was made blatantly obvious by the unique black spots that are irregular on each and everyone of our kraft paper packagesOn the photos *** sent to us, and claimed as his own photography, the black spots match up precisely as those photos on our websiteGiven the style of packaging we use, irregular kraft paper, this is 100% impossible for these spots to match up identically.4} Prior to the photography issue, which was the most blatant indicator that *** had not actually ever been in possession of Righteous Felon Truffle-Soldier beef jerky, was that he could not tell us what the "Sell By Date" on the products he had in his procession wereWhen he finally did provide us a date, the date preceded the actual first production date our Truffle-Soldier flavorThis was another clear indicator that *** didn't actually have Righteous Felon products in his possessionIn addition, on the photos that *** provided, the "Best Buy" Dates in the photo did not match the dates that he previously told us were on the package.5)In his Revdex.com complaint, *** claims that he ate the moldy jerky and became sick as a resultHowever, it is clear from ***'s email on Nov 13th, at 11:32am EST, that he never ate the productHe writes "Its mold which is dangerous, god forbid ate it." The contradicting story of whether *** ate the jerky, or didn't eat the jerky, is another indicator that this is a fabricated story that not even the storyteller can keep straight.Given these five points, paired with the general aggressive, threatening, and name-calling demeanor of ***'s email, we've determined that this was a claim and *** never actually received moldy jerky, or any jerky for that ***er, from Righteous Felon, LLCFurthermore, we believe that this is not the first time *** has preyed on a small business by threatening them with legal/governmental action if they don't send him free product. Our legal counsel, *** * ***, is engaged on this issue and is pursuing legal action against ***, and/or the occupant/owner of *** *** *** Cove, OR, ***, for public defamation and slandering if *** does not retract his public and private statements regarding Righteous Felon products. All this said, if *** can provide actual photographs of the bags of affected jerky, or he can send the jerky back to Righteous Felon using the prepaid shipping label that was provided to him, Righteous Felon will immediately and gladly replace the jerky for ***.Thanks,Brendan C.
