Review: I have been living in my house for 14 years. We had only one pump in the basement and no water problems except the walls that were getting a little bit moldy. We decided to contract Right Waterproofing Co. to solve the mold issue. They came to our house, measured the basement, and did an extensive work on the floor + installed two water pumps. Since the pumps were installed we had water in one section of the basement two times (before this issue we never had water before in 12 years).

When I called the company to report the problem, they answered right away, but the person that returned my call was very aggressive, hanged up on me two times, and told me that he was the owner of the company, he never had problems in 25 years, and because that I did not want to listen to his answers he could not talk to me. He also mentioned that the snow storm and the big rain we had last week were the causes of the water coming in the basement, and that given the surface of the basement, I need another pump and this won't even guarantee the work. My question is why did the company did not tell me about the need of another pump when the work was estimated? (the basement surface is still the same one (no additions have been made )

Why I never had water before with one pump and now it happened two times after the work was finished? The way the owner of the company handled my call was totally unacceptable, he was arrogant, disrespectful, childish and unprofessionalDesired Settlement: I just want the company to come and do the job the way it should have been done when the estimate was given (the basement surface has not changed, it's the same one). If Al (the owner) said that because of the basement surface I need an extra pump, it should be installed with no charge.

Response:

We have explained to the customer that due to the extensive downpours our area has received this summer (flood warnings issued) that her pumps simply could not keep up with the volume of water that was coming into the basement. The sump pumps are designed by the manufacturer to handle a specific gallons per minute. If one more gallon enters that basement that the pump can handle, there may be some water that enters the floor. Unfortunately we have no control over these types of events. There is no way to predict that 1 day, 2 years after we installed our system we would received flooding rains and customer pumps may be overwhelmed. We recommended to customer that she install another pump as a proactive matter to make sure this doesn't happen again. Our contract states that "Where a state of emergency or a flood warning is issued, the sub-floor pressure relief can be overwhelmed and seepage or flooding may occur for which Rightway is not responsible. Sub-floor pressure relief systems will handle moderate amounts of water and are installed as per Basement Health Association recommendations." We explained this to the customer and she did want to except anything we had to say and continued to argue and berate our company. We apologized she received water on her floor but our system can only handle so much.
