Hello,This customer had signed for Full Value Insurance with a $deductible on the day of the move. The reason this customer was not contacted immediately was because my driver did not get back from over the road until 3-days laterI did not want to contact this
customer without having all of the information in front of meOnce my driver returned with the customers paperwork, I was in contact with him throughout the whole entire claim process. There was a particle board desk leg that was damaged, along with molding to an entertainment centerThere was also no proof that the "load shifted in transit" like *** had statedWe did set up an appointment for *** *** to come out and provide an estimateI received feedback from them that they could not handle the repairsOur main goal is to first repair, if the item is not repairable, we will then replaceI then contacted another company by the name of *** *** *** and spoke to a gentleman by the name of ***He emailed me a price for the desk ($275.00) and a price to repair the molding ($175.00)This claim totaled out to be $Luckily, we were able to get a quote from *** on the desk as well because *** attempted to repair/secure the leg on his own which made it even more difficult to repair/ get a repair on. The customer had signed for a $The deductible exceeded the cost of repairsWe also have a strict policy when it comes to particle boardWe have each and every one of our customers sign a form stating how fragile particle board is and how it does not do well when it comes to being taken apart and movedIf any particle board is damaged during the move, Riley & Sons Moving Company is not liableI have attached a copy of this form, which was signed on the day of the move. If there was any issue regarding our particle board policy, we would have been more than happy to explain furtherWe were not responsible for the particle board desk that was damaged due to particle board policy(Which *** was well aware of beforehand). *** did not email me asking for any vendor informationI actually emailed *** asking if it was okay to provide *** *** with his contact information so they can set up an appointment with him directly*** did not respond to our claim settlement, instead contacted Revdex.comI have emails to show all of the work, quotes from vendors, and correspondence with *** throughout this processIf the repairs exceeded the deductible (on the molding) we would value the insurance signed for pay the remaining balanceWe did not ignore this claim nor did we ever ignore ***, we simply valued the insurance signed for which was a $deductible

Review: We moved from [redacted] to [redacted] in May of 2013 and engaged Riley & Sons to move our things. We paid $700 in insurance, although we were never given a written policy. Our goods were put into a [redacted] facility while we looked for a house. When we settled on the property in July, and engaged a local company to move our things from the storage facility to our new home, a number of our things were broken and missing. We contacted Riley & Sons and they asked us to provide pictures and a description of the property, which we did. Several weeks later, due to their family emergency, we were still trying to resolve the issue, sending multiple emails. Eventually in September I received an email summarily dismissing our claim. When I pressed the head of the company with threats of posing negative reviews of his services on the internet, he engaged a third-party administrator, who also denied our claims, saying that because we had the property in a storage facility, they were not responsible. We were the only people with a key to the storage facility so I fail to see how that absolves them from being responsible for missing items (including my laptop computer) and various other household goods - like mops, brooms, a stool, and a couple of boxes of books. As for the broken items, the movers we engaged here in Nevada showed me each broken item as they removed it from the storage unit. I believe their $700 worth of insurance was just an additional revenue stream.Desired Settlement: I believe Riley & Sons is should take responsibility for having broken and lost our property. It is obvious to me that the $700 we paid in insurance was worthless, and I am at a loss as to why they are not liable for the loss and destruction of our property based on it being in a storage facility for less than two months. I believe that since we no longer live in [redacted], they feel they are safe from any consequence.
