The gardens at west apartment complex charged me twice for one months rent. I went to the apartments office the following day and was instructed to go through the bank and get the bank to adjust the payment. I followed as told and the bank could only reverse the payment. When this happened the apartment complex charged me with 2 fees and would not remove the fees unless I paid them and then challenged them though their company. I did challenge them and they never gave me an update or a notice of how to further pursue the wrong charging of fees. They wouldn't let me talk to a area manager and for 2 months said she had a family emergency and still avoid my follow ups. I read there reviews online and they overcharged other people as well. Please look into this business
Product_Or_Service: rent

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I would like a refund of *** they charged me in fees

I was suppose to get my refund within 3 week to 30 days, it is now 5 weeks and finally they said they will send check snail mail instead of over night
It has been 5 weeks since I was denied leasing at ***. I was told I should get my refund check back within 3 weeks or 30 days.. it is past both. I think it is extremely unprofessional and irresponsible for RIM to take this long to refund money back. If I was a renter You would have filed for eviction within 2 weeks if I did not pay, yet you think its ok to take over 30 days to refund my 800 dollars back to me. I will make sure to not recommend anybody do business with you.

Desired Outcome

I want my check sent over night..

RIM Regional Investment & Management Response • Sep 26, 2019

Application was denied due to findings in applicant's background check. Applicant requested that we send refund via overnight mail, however, did not want to incur associated cost. Applicant's refund was timely sent via U.S. Mail and cashed by applicant.

I was evicted and they are still charging me rent until it is occupied, but they are not showing it to anyone.
I looked at these apartments in mid November by leasing agent***. I saw that the cabinets looked worn and asked if they could stain or oil them and she insinuated that they could do something, I noticed a cabinet off the hinge and commented on that and she said it would get fixed, as well as the carpets would be shampooed. I then got the move in and application fee together to put in on hold. As I was signing the lease, probably the second page in, she informs me that it was a 15 month lease. I said ok fine. (strike one, first red flag ), I move in and nothing was done, No shampooed carpets, no maintenance on the cabinets. (strike 2) I am now feeling like I can't trust them. Other issues come up like when it was rent time I usually pay with a check, however I leave early in the morning before the office opens, and come home in the evening after they are closed and there was no drop box to leave a check so a couple of times it was late (I can see my fault so I deal with it), when you pay late you can only pay with a*** where you are charged idk at least 50-90 extra for using the*** termainal. So I finally set up an online account, for the April payment I believe, I payed online and put in the wrong account number so I immediately try to change it but it was in mid process so I couldn't, I then called to explain so I would not get charged a late fee or a returned check fee- all within 5 minutes of noticing my error. I spoke to *** and she explained saying I was concerned for any charges and that she would let *** know. I got charged anyway-(strike 3) All while I am living in an apartment where I am noticing paint on my bathroom tile, cabinets, floor, floor board, and the back patio door was falling apart ect. - when requested maintenance no one would call or let me know when they were going in also- which made me feel uncomfortable and asked several times for them to call me prior. One Sunday in May a week after I just payed rent I am laying in bed, it's 10am, the neighbors next door are moving and I hear a bang like a picture fell and hit the ground. Then I hear my daughter's voice downstairs outside to I go to see what's going on, where I find the man downstairs talking to my daughter and her boyfriend. Apparently her boyfriend was getting ready to leave and reached for his gun in his bag and thought it was empty and accidentally went off going down into the apartment below. We were all shocked and I apologized, he said he was calling the police and I agreed and understood. The office didn't open until noon, in the meantime the police came, we explained it was a mistake, they looked and couldn't find an exit hole, it could only be seen from the apartment below, a small pinky sized hole. The man didn't press charges and they did not continue the investigation. I called and spoke to the manager and asked her if I would be evicted and she said they didn't know. Monday afternoon while Im at work I get an eviction letter on my door stating I have 3 days to leave. I'm six months into my lease at this time- did I mention I had to pay a *** pet deposit. I'm freaking out, I go to the office to talk to them and they tell me to hurry up and find another apartment before they report to my credit! They also tell me that I will be charged until the end of my lease and for any damages. They had no regard for the fact that I had a school age child, that I had to move, did not offer me another apartment on the same property or any of their other properties for that matter. I called the office and spoke to *** where she contradicted herself several times and asked her why it is still empty because it was left better than I found it (have video) and first she said they have to clean it, then said that put a hold on it because someone wants it but until they move in I will be charged! I then found out there was a worse incident and the other residents were not evicted

Desired Outcome

I would like for this to be taken off my credit, it has since dropped 29 points, and I have spoken to other leasing managers and was informed that this is not normal practice to charge me when I am not living there. The bullet hole repair on the roof on the apartment below in so small and so minor but I can for see a ridiculous fee as this whole situation has been.

was evicted as a result of her daughter's boyfriend discharging a firearm inside the apartment home. The bullet traveled into an adjacent apartment within inches of the head of another resident. The safety and welfare of our residents is important and eviction was warranted. The other assertions in *** claim are incorrect and we believe arose due to her eviction.

Since the beginning of our lease we were paying *** extra for upgraded appliances that we never received. This was 2-9-17 to 8-1-17 . That would be a total of *** of credit the manager told us we were going to receive in our December statement. They started deducting *** from 8-1-17 until now. It has taken them almost a year to correct this issue , keep in mind my lease ends 2-7-18. I've called them for 2 weeks trying to get my balance and *** the manager never returned my call until the very last day the rent was due. She then wants to proceed and charge me late fees. I advised to the manager that I work the same schedule the office is open and I am unable to make my payments online due to the incorrect amount that is always posted. *** spoke to me in front of another worker *** about such credit or cash as she said to be given back.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) My desired outcome is for them to waive all fees that were put onto the account for every inconvenience there has been with the billing plus my *** that they owe me in cash

After complaining of a roach infestation management retaliated against me by changing my apartment locks without notification or response to calls.
Beginning July 8, 2017, we have made numerous attempts with both Waterford Place Apartments as well as StoneHaven Apartments to have our cockroach issue taken care of. Pest control has been sent to our unit a few times but the issue still remains. My neighbors have confirmed that they have a serious roach issue, and prior management confirmed that multiple surrounding units were also dealing with a roach issue. We have done our due diligence in trying to rid ourselves of the roaches. We have placed borax around and in our apartment, followed advice from pest control, and kept our unit as clean as possible. Upon an oral conversation with Samantha of StoneHaven Apartments, she assured that other units would be treated as well as my own. Only my unit was treated until I personally advised other tenants of the issue. After treatment from both prior and current management, the roach issue persisted. To do all that I could to rid ourselves of the roaches, on October 6, 2017 I arranged for my family to leave town for the weekend so that more aggressive treatment could be completed. We do not have friends or family in the area, and had to drive 3 hours away with our 2 large dogs and newborn baby so that we could stay with family. To complete the treatment, we had to remove every item from kitchen cabinets, drawers and shelves. We were required to wipe them down. We purchased storage containers to safely store our items while chemicals were sprayed. We removed everything from the walls, removed everything from the floors, took off all of our couch cushions, and pulled away all furniture from the walls. My husband took the day off of work to complete these tasks which took nearly all day while I cared for our new baby. We did not ask for compensation for any of this because we truly wanted to rid ourselves of roaches.
On Sunday October 8 ,2017 at 12p.m. we returned to find that our apartment locks had been changed. There was no notice on my door stating that the locks were changed, and no new key was placed in my mailbox. The treatment occurred on the 6th of October and I was not called to be notified on the 6th or the 7th that my locks were changed. I was not late on rent, nor have I ever been. We called multiple times both before and after 1p.m. when the management office was to be open. There was no emergency contact number that we were forwarded to, so after 3 hours of waiting we were forced to take our two large dogs and 2-month old baby and find a hotel room to stay in. Fortunately our family does not live paycheck to paycheck and was able to afford the expensive hotel room required to accommodate our situation. Despite the website and posted office hours stating that the management office should be open, no one ever came. We used the chat option on the StoneHaven website in hopes of finding an emergency contact to let us in, however they had no other number. We later tried to chat again and spoke with a man named John, who said that someone would arrive within 15 minutes to let us in. My husband waited at our apartment for 2 hours and no one arrived at our unit to let us in, nor the management office.
We returned again on Monday, October 9th 2017 to attempt again to be let into our apartment. We explained to Samantha the situation and she lied to us stating that she tried to call my phone to let us know of the situation. However, after reviewing my call log, no such phone call took place. As stated, no other method of contacting us was done, and there was no letter on our door stating that the locks were changed. Very little apology was given by Samantha and there was no offer to reimburse our hotel costs or my husbands missed work because his work attire was in our apartment, despite the fact that we were wrongfully locked out of our apartment that paid for. StoneHaven has retaliated against my family for reporting in good faith a roach infestation.

Desired Outcome

I want to be released from my apartment contract as well as compensated $1,000. My husband has missed two days of work totaling $400 and we spent $160 on a hotel because we were wrongfully locked out of our apartment. We drove 2 vehicles 3 hours away to accommodate our family situation and spent time, energy, and gas getting there and back. This situation has caused extreme stress and anxiety during what is supposed to be a beautiful time for my family after giving birth to our first child. I would expect this type of situation and treatment for paying $500 a month for rent, but I do not expect cockroaches nor being wrongfully locked out of my apartment when I have NEVER been late on rent while paying over $*** monthly.
