RINA Management, Inc Reviews (3)

I stayed at this hotel when traveling for work. I used a state tax exempt. At the time I gave them my tax exempt form, I was unaware that they did not know that this ONLY removed state tax. They took off all taxes.
Three weeks later I received an email receipt showing that they had now charge me city tax. I had already been reimbursed by my employer and could not go back to file reimbursement for city tax. I was going to have to pay this out of pocket for their mistake. Hotel personnel told me initially on the phone that it was their mistake.
When my boss told them that we would not be paying city tax because it was their mistake that they caught and charged us for three weeks later, they threatened to make a note stating that we had decided not to pay and this whole situation was our fault.
What started off as great customer service at this hotel, ended very badly. Had they caught their mistake in a timely manner and then charge me things would have been different, but it was three weeks later.
They also claimed that they were just trying to do my company a favor, so that when we got audited there would be no issue. Their mistake does not reflect bad in our audits, but theirs.
I will not be staying at this hotel again. For those of you who choose to stay here and use a state tax exempt form, inspect you receipt carefully to make sure that it is correct.

Review: On the night of Saturday December 13, 2014 I checked into the [redacted] around 6pm. I don't live in the area and it was my Birthday so I had some family over that haven't saw me in awhile. Everything was going well besides a few people showed up to my room that I didn't know and they weren't invited, so I didn't let them in. So around 12 midnight I get a knock on my door telling me I was evicted from my room. Now at this point I haven't received a phone call or visit from anybody at the front desk at all. So I'm just utterly confused. While talking to the police I step away and decide to make a trip to the front desk and ask them why I'm being evicted. Once I get down there the receptionist he tells me that I'm not evicted but he does ask me to clear people out. So I conversed with the police telling them what the receptionist told me so they conversed, then apparently left. So I was clearing my room out and less than 15 minutes later the police come back to my room telling me that I'm evicted again, at this point I'm livid trying to explaining that there is no noise coming from my room and about everybody had already left. Right after, I make a repeat trip to the front desk and I'm told the same thing, that I'm not evicted but the officers says the front desk receptionist is a liar and goes to speak with him. He comes back telling me that he says I'm evicted. So finally me and the officer go in there together and he says that I am evicted. At this point I'm feeling confused, deceived and mistreated so I ask for a refund and he rudely says "not until the manager is in!". They never let me back in the room I wasn't even able to get my clothes. I didn't live in the area so I had to spend $100 on another room in a separate hotel that night. So that following week I contacted the manager first [redacted] by phone, then by email. A few days later received a response telling me that the reason that I won't be receiving a refund is that they did contact me first and that the police said there was illegal drugs in my room and smoke. So, I responded telling them to check there surveillance cameras to see if they actually contacted me first. I then explained, that I never let the police in my room so it's noway they could have found illegal drugs also, I didn't allow smoking in my room so if there was smoke it must of been after the officer told me I was evicted which at that point it was no longer my problem. So apparently she checked and straightened that out because she responded to me apologizing for her previous email which I have copies of but then gave me another reason why I can't have a refund, which was that they couldn't resell the room because of the time I left. That doesn't have nothing to do with my refund, there staff was misleading and uncommunicative and now they are just making any excuse possible I didn't pay 153 for one night. Furthermore, on December 19, 2014 I received two more charges, one for 110 and another for 100 which I never received an explanation for. In addition, it overdrafted my bank account which I received a $35 charge for.Desired Settlement: I am asking for $400 back in total charges.

Business

Response:

Revdex.com spoke with [redacted] from the business. The customer was evicted from the room for noise violations after the police were called to the propriety. The customer was charged for the night spent in the room and then after check out there was a charge for smoking. That charge should have been $250 but he was not charged that full amount.

Review: On or before 8-2-14 I called the toll free number for Marriott Hotels. I cancelled the room and was given a cancellation number (69481776). I since made and kept a reservation at the Townplace in Buffalo NY. On 8-15-14 the Townplace in Fredericksburg VA billed me for $120.15. That charge resulted in 5 $35 overdraft fees. I called Marriott's 800 number ([redacted]) and explained the situation to her and she contacted the hotel directly stating that they (800 Marriott) has no authority to refund me the money even though I made the reservation and cancelled the reservation with them. [redacted] said she explain the situation to the manager of the property and was told that since the reservation was cancelled through the 800 number and there is no way to confirm what was said they will not refund the $120 + $175 in overdraft fees. I explained that I wanted both rooms cancelled and that it wouldn't make since for me to cancel one room and not the other. I was told that the 800 operator should have cancelled both rooms but we are not going to address that because it was not the locations mistake. I stated that the 800 can take and cancel reservations and the hotel doesn't mind collecting the money but when they make a mistake the location has no responsibility and suddenly limits the ties that bind them. Please help me resolve this matter as it is unfair to make a customer pay for the mistakes of an employee.Desired Settlement: I would like for a refund of $120.15 and $175.00 in caused overdraft fees to be refunded.
