Hi,We are happy to re-open [redacted] Jewelry's order and send the HZ (Hazardous shipping) items, upon her ok of the $13.23 additional charge for UPS Ground shipping.  I would like to clarify that we state (in bright text) on the website that HZ (Hazardous shipping) items require UPS Ground, and...

will be removed from orders where an incompatible method is selected. Website example of the HZ item: http://www.rings-things.com/Products/?search=staybriteIt works best when the customer selects UPS Ground, per the instructions on the item. This way, we know they have authorized the UPS Ground shipping price. However, sometimes customers accidentally select the wrong shipping method. When this happens, we immediately send an auto-email letting the customer know, and giving a few options. Due to the higher cost associated with UPS Ground, we can't automatically switch their order to UPS Ground without an authorization from the customer, for the higher charge. Here is a brief summary of the correspondence between Rings & Things and [redacted] ([redacted]@gmail.com). I am happy to send copies of additional email correspondence upon request.12/22: Order #[redacted] placed. See Attachments: 16-12-22 [redacted] Auto Confirmation.png and 16-12-22 HZ Auto Email.png 12/22's order included both this HZ item: http://www.rings-things.com/Products/?search=staybriteand this DW (Dimesional Weight) item: http://www.rings-things.com/Products/?search=69-413We contacted customer to say it would be an additional $45.43 to send these 2 items via UPS Ground. She chose to cancel these 2 items due to the high shipping cost, and we shipped the remainder of the in-stock items. (Invoice available upon request.)One item was out of stock. We expected it back in stock approximately January 15, but did not receive it until Friday, Feb 10. On Monday Feb 13, we processed backorders from Friday's shipment, and her backorder was in the queue to ship on Feb 14. On Feb 14, customer contacted us and said to ship it. See attachment: 17-02-14 BO correspondence.png. As [redacted] was not aware that we charge shipping on backorders, we gave her a refund of $2.61 for the USPS shipping on her backorder, and explained the backorder policy for future orders.Standard policy on backorders: http://www.rings-things.com/faq/#backorders3/3: Customer placed order #[redacted], which contained the same HZ item as before, plus an adhesive with the same HZ warning, and selected "$4.95 or Free if $99+" as the shipping method. We sent the attached 17-03-03 HZ Auto Email, and did not receive a reply, so we followed the policy listed on both the item and in the email, and cancelled these 2 items and shipped the rest for free per the "$4.95 or Free if $99+" method selected by the customer. On 3/11 when customer received her order, she replied to the HZ Shipping Mismatch email: "[redacted] is with you people?  Send my [redacted] order already!!! I loved the story behind Rings and Things. Just a guy who started this out of the back of his van and it grew and grew. Sounded really neat to me, so I was excited to check it out. We finally drove all the way into downtown Spokane, navigating a series of irritatingly difficult one way streets, to find the place.

When we walked up to the door, we were a little taken back by the fact that you have to ring a door bell and be buzzed in, like its some exclusive club. We walked inside and were immediately told to walk up to the front desk where I was instructed to put my purse (not a particularly large one either) in a locker and leave it locked up while we browsed. We were ready to turn and leave at that point, but since we had driven all that way decided to at least give the place a chance.

Then all the instructions came. First, not everything is marked its actual price. Some things are marked suggested MSRP, in which case they are half the marked price, while others are marked actual price. Not my idea of how to run a business. Second, the actual show room was the size of your average fast food restaurant dining room. The building was quite large, but you as a customer are only allowed in one small small portion of it. If you want merchandise that is not in the small show room, you are welcome to use their computers to look up product on their web site. Once you find a product on their web site, you must write down the item number and description, submit it to someone at the front desk, and wait for them to go through the three stories of their stuff to pull it and bring it to you. Now, personally if I wanted to look for this stuff on a computer, I could have saved the gas and sat at home in my slippers and looked on the computer, and gotten it all much much much cheaper from Etsy, Ebay, DH Gate, etc. (I am in the jewelry business and do have online suppliers, I just firmly believe in supporting local businesses.) Third, there is a $25.00 minimum. Not hard to reach that minimum with the extremely overpriced strands of beads (which was the majority of the show room). Beads that I can buy at Hobby Lobby or Michaels for $5.00 a strand are being sold here from $20 - $40, so if you half that for whole sale, $10 - $20. So as we tried to leave, we could not get out the door. Yes, you have to be buzzed out as well.

Now, the girl who explained all this to me was very nice and friendly and professional. I just think it's a messed up way to run a business. I have no complaints of the two people working there at the time. I do not like shopping somewhere that I have to lock up my purse and feel self conscious about putting my hands in my pockets like a common thief.

I was shocked to read the previous review. I have been shopping at R & T for many years and it is by far the best supply house in the USA. They are no longer requiring the locked door or the purse lockers! I actually still lock mine up as shopping is much easier without a hand bag and miss "being announced and greeted by their awesome staff". They carry only high quality, high end supplies, and are way above anything [redacted] or [redacted] sells. The store has always been a dynamic competitor in on line shopping and the majority of their business is just that. By not having an enormous physical store they have always offered great pricing for volume and compared to many other large on line stores I always find it is cheaper to shop at R&T. Sometimes I need to look at an item to be sure it works in my project and they happily pull that item for me so I can physically check it out. The customer service is the best and they are extremely knowledgeable. Most of the time the store items are cash and carry which are unique strands that you won't find anywhere else and the quality is outstanding. I personally was always happy to be buzzed in as I felt very safe in the store. There is no store that compares to this store and those of us in Spokane who do both internet/pickup orders and shop in the store love this store, the owners and the staff. We feel very fortunate to have R&T in our City. This is the most unique and diverse store in the USA.
