On 9/8/15 our company serviced a A.O. Smith water heater at [redacted]'s home. [redacted] from [redacted] Plumbing Company...

originally called us about this service call. [redacted] from [redacted] said that Mr. [redacted] was a personal friend of his. [redacted] even stated that we could bill [redacted] Plumbing or Mr. [redacted]. We replaced a gas control valve on the water heater. The part was under the manufactures warranty, but not the service call. We did not leave an invoice on the job, but mailed one on the same day to Mr. [redacted]. Our terms on our invoice state Due on Receipt. When the bill was not paid several phone calls were made to Mr. [redacted]. We got a voice mail each time we called, and we left messages inquiring about the status of payment. Mr. [redacted] NEVER returned any of our calls. When Mr. [redacted] finally paid on 10/9/15 a month after our invoice was sent, he deducted $40.00 from the bill. He sent a letter stating that he was deducting $40.00 for clean up of water and debris on his basement floor. Mr. [redacted] NEVER CALLED OR COMPLAINED TO US ABOUT OUR SERVICE AFTER WE WERE THERE. I speak to [redacted] from [redacted] about service calls from time to time. He refers customers to us that have problems with their water heaters. I called [redacted] to inquire if Mr. [redacted] was happy with our repair. [redacted] told me that Mr. [redacted] told him that he was very happy to have hot water, and that we took care of him promptly. [redacted] asked me if Mr. [redacted] had taken care of us? When asked that specific question I told [redacted] that Mr. [redacted] had not paid his bill in full. I told [redacted] that Mr. [redacted] wrote a letter about debris and water on the basement floor, and that Mr. [redacted] had deducted $40.00 from the bill. [redacted] from [redacted] wanted to pay the $40.00 and I told him no. I told [redacted] that I was going to request that Mr. [redacted] pay the entire bill, since NO COMPLAINT HAD EVER BEEN MADE TO US. Several weeks past and [redacted] from [redacted] called our office and insisted on paying the $40.00, which I really did not want to accept. I sent a copy of the check to Mr. [redacted] saying that the bill was paid in full by [redacted]. If Mr. [redacted] had just called to let us know that he was NOT HAPPY FROM THE BEGINNING, I'm certain we could have worked something out. Any water accumulated would have been very little around the water heater in the unfinished basement by the floor drain. At the present time and because of the way Mr. [redacted] handled this, I do not feel that any adjustment is necessary.
