I am rejecting this response because: There is no explanation proivded by the owner as to why none of these additional costs were disucssed No options were presented, and there was no communocation from the contractor in terms of when to (for example) order the flooring so the project could stay on time There was no discussion about an additional dumsters and an additional $fee for this when talking to us about removing the carpet now or later Overall I am disatisfied with his poor communciation with us before, during and after the project He never once called us to update us on time delays or additional costs He never visited the site to check on the final project Regards, [redacted]

The homeowner was given an estimate 4-6 months prior for the project. When we first startedthe project we did demolition to the exterior of the home which was done per [redacted] coupon ratewhich the homeowner agreed because I told her there was no way I could put a price on the...

demolitionpart because I would have to over bid or under bid because I could not determine how much time itwould take. We had a dumpster at the home and at the time of the demolition the flooring wassupposed to be ordered by the homeowner which did not happen. We could not leave the dumpsterthere at the home or we would have been paying more money waiting than just paying for anotherdumpster. So when the flooring finally came in the Homeowner called me and said the flooring was inwhich meant we had to pay for another dumpster for the second time which would be an added cost tothe homeowner. We also tried to pull the carpet up for the flooring installation at the first phase of theproject but the homeowner said she didn't want to walk on bare floors until the flooring for the newinstallation had come in which makes sense. Also at the first phase of the project when the wallpaperwas removed the walls had to be skimmed with a level 5 application and if we would have removed thebaseboard trim we would have had more wall damage and would have had to do a change of workorder because we would have had to replace the baseboard trim which it was cheaper to just add a staingrade shoe mold which we did that at cost for the homeowner, the employee had to stain the shoemolding, install the shoe molding then apply a polyurethane then sand the shoe molding and apply onemore coat of polyurethane. Also when the homeowner called to tell me the flooring was in she said wewould have to change our flooring estimate because they went with three different size flooring plankswhich takes more time to install because of the various sizes which the homeowner knew that as well. Also in an email to Rising Height they had questioned the skimming which was in the original estimate ifneeded to be done. There was so much damage to walls from the wallpaper that the whole room had tobe leveled 5, in cases like this you cannot do just pieces and parts because it will show when you paint. Idon't know where the homeowner is coming up with this percentage over the original estimate becausethat is not the case. They had this estimate months prior to us starting the work, the only change ofwork orders were the demolition and dump fee for the second time, the added shoe mold and thechange of price for the different flooring the homeowner wanted installed compared to the original. Also we moved the furniture out of the room at no charge which our company is not responsible for thatbecause we do not want the liability. We paid for the dry cleaning of set of drapes which took about twoweeks to get back from the dry cleaners. It took three weeks for the homeowner to get new blinds to beinstalled, which took between the both apporx. Five weeks and the delay of the homeowner orderingthe flooring, also there were days that we couldn't get in there because of the babysitter also that'swhere the delays were in the project. We are very sorry that the homeowner isn't happy but we feel likeit is a communication problem with the homeowner, for example the delay times with ordering etc.Thank you, [redacted] [redacted]Rising Height Unlimited

I am rejecting this response because:  There is no explanation proivded by the owner as to why none of these additional costs were disucssed.  No options were presented, and there was no communocation from the contractor in terms of when to (for example) order the flooring so the project could stay on time.   There was no discussion about an additional dumsters and an additional $600 fee for this when talking to us about removing the carpet now or later.
Overall I am disatisfied with his poor communciation with us before,  during and after the project.  He never once called us to update us on time delays or additional costs.  He never visited the site to check on the final project.

Despite some hiccups that Mike had with an employee who went rogue, he worked with me in a timely manner around my budget to help get a historic home in OTE rehabbed and liveable. I'll continue working with Rising Height on future projects around the house, of which there will be many.
