I have spoke on the phone with *** *** on a couple of different occasionsEach time we have spoken her stories have contradicted each other and she changes her storyAt first she told me this complaint involved different beef that no one had eaten any of the meat within the last
months which I told her I found hard to believeI then spoke with her husband about an hour later and he told me that some of the people had eaten the meat but had not said anythingI explained to him that a lot of things can happen in six months and I felt like I should have been approached sooner which he agreed*** called me one day and said I needed to replace the meat or she was having it taken to a lab for testsI told her to take it to a lab and have it testedI was sent the results of the labI called the lab and spoke with the individual who did the tests and asked if they knew that this meat had been aged before cutting and they said no that the aging process would explain the resultsI asked if the meat was harmful and the individual said not according to the tests that she had ranI then received a letter stating that I must reimburse different individuals for their beef and for their cut and wrapI responded with a letter stating that I had had some very well qualified individuals read these results and they came up with the same conclusion that I hadThis is not a health issue but is a quality issue with the meatAccording to *** she does not eat certain types of cattle however the type she told me she does not eat was the exact type I butchered for herThis meat was sold to them by another individualI have no control over what type of cattle are brought to my facility for processing or how the cattle may tasteI can only process the animals and give them back to the ownersI have followed all federal regulations required of me and my business has a very good reputation for the work we doIn the complaint *** filed with you she says I should refund them $but in the letter to me she says its $Although I am sorry for their unhappiness in the product she received I am not responsible for the quality of the product that she bought from another individualThis meat was processed in November and to wait months before ever reporting a concern to myself is unheard of in my line of workI have called several customers that had meat processed around the same time as *** and have had no complaintsI have contacted individuals that bought cattle from the same individual as *** did and they have no complaintsThanks for your time
Sincerely
Ty J***

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Ty's response was half correctHere is a list of discrepancies:
1. The information that I have provided while talking with Ty has not changedI have been up front and honest from the beginning
The beef that I said we do not prefer not to eat is jersey - Mr H*** whom we have purchased meat from for about to years is aware of this and does not raise jersey for usIf we received jersey it is because it was mixed up at Ty's butcher shopTracy H*** told us that he took a Holstein cow for us, we have no reason not to believe him
The amount that I asked to be refunded did change from the letter that John W wrote to Ty versus what I asked for in this complaint, is because I could not remember the exact amount that we spent at the time I was writing thisI did however state this in my notes at the bottom of the complaint formI would be more than happy with $750, so we could actually buy meat that is edible
As far as me saying that NO ONE had eaten the meat, that is incorrectI said that John W and my husband and I had not eaten the meat until we reached out to Ty, because we were still eating the last cow that we purchased and wanted to finish it before we started on the new meatIt did not take six months to say something, it has taken six months to get to the point we are at
I never asked for a refund from Ty before the lab resultsWhat I did say is that we would like to figure this out and then figure out how to be compensated for poor processing/quality of meat that we received from Ty
We have paid for all of the testing so far on the product, neither Tracy or Ty have offered to help us figure this out. We also gave information that we had acquired to both Ty and Tracy, but Ty refuses to let us talk to his "qualified" persons so we can see what they are seeing on the results, that no one else is seeingI am currently talking to professors from the University of Idaho Ag department and we have been told that they do not recommend us eating the meat due to the results I sent them from Analytical Labs
Ty seems to not want to address his freezer issues, the fact that he couldn't remember what beef went to when our group when they called, or how they wanted their cuts doneTy also said he has a record of what beef went to whom, I have yet to see this
Also a man that my husband works with that was not in our group bought a cow from Tracy (not the first time) had it butchered by Ty and is having the same issue we have, so whoever Ty said he reached out to, he apparently did not talk to everyone that had the cows butchered around the same time
We took meat to Ty to taste and he told my husband that he smoked it on his smoker and the meat still was not good, but it was not badIf the meat is not good on a smoker, there is something wrong!
At the end of the day, we the consumers did not do anything wrong, yet we are out the moneyIf this is a "reputable" company, now is the time to step up and take care of us correctly
Sincerely,*** ***

Mr. [redacted] dropped off an unskinned deer for processing and requested summer sausage with his order. During the hunting season we are extremely busy and work 7 days a week for two months. Summer sausage is a cooked product and requires more time to process which causes us to fall behind at times....

Mr. [redacted] has been contacted that his meat is ready for pickup but has yet to come and get his product.
