I am rejecting this response because: Mr *** *** never spoke to me concerning any lock on my storage unit for the (eight) years I've rented the storage unit(s). The only times Mr *** conversed with me was on the 1st (first) of each month when I paid my storage rent by phone. The storage is suppose to be equipped with security cameras and each patron have their own gate code. There were NO movers (on my behalf)) and NO one had my gate code (to my knowledge) but Mr *** and myself. If any burglars/movers had broken into my storage unit (as Mr *** assumed) why would they want to take the WHOLE unit which including my Military Records/Discharge Papers, Insurance Documents, Military uniforms, my parents Death Certificates, High School Diploma, Year Books and etc? Why would burglars/movers (if there was any) take the time out to clean/dust the unit and put someone else's contents in place of mine then lock it up? All the while I'm steady paying storage fees every month on the same unit? The Police felt it was an inside job but had no proof at the time. It HURTS me to even think about it! I have nothing left. This whole scenario has caused me pain and suffering. Somebody tried to get several credit cards in my name and a cell phone was purchased in my name. If my property had been taken away by the act of GOD, (natural disaster, fire or etc) I would understand.

We are very sorry for the loss of Ms. [redacted]'s possessions. As the...

owners of the storage facility, we absolutely did not auction off her belongings and rent her unit out to someone else.
Ms. [redacted] had rented two storage units from us. Close to the rt of November 2013 she moved out of one unit and consolidated her things in just the one unit. She had movers helping her do this.
On our daily walk thru, her unit always had a lock on it. We had repeatedly ask her to put a more secure lock on her units like a disc lock, but she always responded by saying she didn't have anything in there worth stealing. She said it was all personal belongings like photo albums, personal pictures and clothes.
On May 1, 2014 she told us the lock on the unit was not hers. We cut the lock for her and discovered the contents were not hers. It had boxes with clothes and miscellaneous personal items that did not belong to her. There was old mail with a name on it that we did not recognize. We immediately called the police and filed a report. The police told her that it most likely was someone she knew who had her code. It could have even been the movers since they saw boxes and didn't know what was inside. Most thieves are looking for electronics or items that can be easily sold. Personal items are not marketable and have very little value to others. We never had any reason to suspect anything was wrong since there were no other incidents reported from other tenants and she had a lock on her unit. Since she moved the previous Nov. this had to take place between the November consolidation and May 1.
Ms. [redacted] also had KENS5 Eyewitness Wants to Know come out to investigate. We explained exactly what happened and he agreed with the police and us that it was most likely someone she knew who had access to her code. There was nothing they could do for her.
We are sorry for her loss, but tenants are responsible for the safety of their contents. They must put a secure disc lock on their unit and make periodic visits to make sure everything is okay,
