River Bay Camping Resort and Marina, LLP Reviews (5)

Good Afternoon *** Your letter from one of our recent customers case number *** was receivedTheir stay was very easy to recallThey had already been blacklisted in our computer system and are not welcome back at
our resortThe ludicrous statement, “she told us they do not check their email” shows the lack of validity for this complaint to begin withToday it would be almost impossible to own a business and compete in the market without answering emailsThey did show up on Friday October 2nd without a reservationThis is at the very end of our season and we had already begun winterizing cabins and rental units that were not rentedWe did have one additional unit that had not been winterized, and was available that weekendThis unit was clean prior to their arriving since we clean all of our units after guest stay and prior to winterizing at the end of the seasonIt is extremely important to have the units clean at the end of the year to insure animals do not come inside and to make the cleaning process much easier at the beginning of the seasonThis unit had already been cleaned. The office was not open because the reservations for that day had already checked inThis gentleman and his group were informed that the campground was at seasons end and they did not have a confirmed reservationThey were given information on the cabinIn addition, they were informed that we do not offer bedding with our units (which is stated in the reservation confirmation which they would have received if they had a confirmed reservation)They stated they would still like to stay and asked if they could use some beddingThey were given our personal bedding of which was clean and we use in our spare bedrooms (note this was given at no additional cost)We found the reason they wanted to stay at our resort so badly was to duck hunt at the resort in our bayThey never asked or received permission to do soThey had two dogs in our cabin and let the dogs go on the furniture and lay on the bedding, we had so generously loaned themIn fact, one of the guys in their group personally showed me a picture of the two dogs laying on one of the beds because he thought it was “cute”. This group was easy to remember by many of our seasonal campers and “regulars” at the resortOne of our seasonal campers approached me on Sundaymorning to inform me of an incident with these guys on that Friday nightThis seasonal worked as a bartender for us while going through collegeShe watched these guys at the bar and noticed one of the guys was making very crude and inappropriate statements to one of our bartendersThis seasonal and her husband stayed and helped our bartender close up fearing there could be an incident if they left her aloneI contacted this seasonal regarding this emailShe remembers the event well and would be willing to give you additional informationIn addition, other seasonal campers stated that they had a confrontation with one of the other guys in this group while playing poolHe had lost a game and went off on a very unusual tirade before storming out of the bar. When these men checked out, our head of cleaning went to clean the unitShe contacted us immediately to express how filthy the cabin was leftIt took her almost twice as long to clean the cabin, because of the condition it was left inShe had to replace the plastic bed coverings in the unit because they were torn up so badly (most likely due to the dogs being on the bed)In addition, she stated the blankets we had loaned them (one of which was wool) was so packed with dog hair and dirt that she did not believe she could get them cleanIn addition, she threw away a couple of the pillows because of how filthy they wereShe put the blankets in the washing machine, but was unable to get the dog hair out of the wool blanket and another blanket did not come cleanAt that point, we sent case number *** the email informing him that he was charged for the additional cleaning fee and the destruction of our pillows and blanketsThe combination of how they left the unit and the character they displayed with the incidents with our bartender/seasonal campers made it easy to decide to blacklist these customers from our resortTheir complaint confirms we made the right decisionWe would like to see the pictures and proof that he states he has, but we can insure you that we did nothing but try to accommodate these gentlemen, as they wanted to stay at our resort. This customer stayed their entire stay and said nothing to us about any issues or complaintsWe are not willing to refund any of the amounts charged in this caseWe have witnesses to refute their allegations and we would have no problem pursuing this case in court if it is taken any further.Respectfully, *** ***River Bay Premier Camping Resort*** ***

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I’m currently waiting for a bank statement and Email copies from one of the other people involved that proves we did have reservations to River Bay Campground. I have another person, as a witness, that heard the owner- [redacted]- clearly state that they do not check their emails. We never spoke with this [redacted] about any of the details involved. I know most of the response is he said/ she said and has no relevance as to why I was charged $150.00 for the bedding in the pictures. As far as duck hunting goes, the boat launch and parking lot is owned and run by the WI DNR, launching into the Wisconsin River. This is more evidence as to the audacity of this [redacted], claiming that they own the public boat launch or the Wisconsin River. They have been cited in the past for harassing hunters. They have no right to give or deny permission for anyone to hunt there. Attached is a Google Map of the launch. Also, no picture even exists of the dogs in the cabin, let alone showing it to this Oines person (again, probably not pertinent). This “bar” at the campground is open to the public and is rather rowdy on the weekends, so whatever transpired there, I cannot attest to. I’ m really not sure what that has to do with bedding. I intend to answer this ridiculous response as to why I was charged a $50 fee for  two dogs and $150 for bedding that was not worth $5 at a rummage sale on the Revdex.com website, in a detailed point by point letter. Is there any other proof- other than the reservation information- that I can provide you for your decision in this matter? I believe the attached information speaks for itself, but as stated, I do intend to prove that we did have reservations to begin with. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Please send me a response if at all possible. Thanks,[redacted]Parts CoordinatorAmerican State Equipment Co., Inc.Phone 414-541-8700   Fax [email protected]

Review: I recently reserved a campsite online for Riverbay Campground in Wisconsin Dells.

[redacted]l

I reserved the campsite for 2 nights totalling $92.84 (Aug 16 & 17). The reservation was confirmed on Aug 9th, but due to a change in plans I requested to cancel the reservation the following day on Aug 10th. No where on the reservation webpage does it state that there is a 30-day cancelation policy, so I was not anticipating any problems when I booked the reservation.

However, in response to my cancelation request, they informed me of their 30-day cancelation policy and that it is referenced on the confirmation email. That is true, but my issue is that they do not inform the consumer of this policy until after the reservation is complete. And since I booked my reservation within 30-days of my planned stay, I basically had no recourse to cancel having no knowledge of that policy.

I'd like to request a refund. They said they'd hold my reservation through 2014, however I do not anticipate traveling to Wisconsin, so that is not acceptable. I made sure to cancel this quickly (within 24 hours), so they weren't holding a campsite for an extended period of time.

Thanks for your assistance.

Best regards,

DavidDesired Settlement: Please credit my VISA for $92.84.

Review: This campground's website leads you to believe that this is a clean and family friendly campground. In fact, this is a party camground. Their onsite outdoor bar stays open until 2am and there are drunk people everywhere. It is extremely loud, quiet hours are not enforced because the security staff sits in the bar at night rather than patrolling. The facilities such as bathrooms and pool water were very dirty and there was garbage stacked around the dumpster at least waste deep, and the pay showers were cold. We spoke with the office staff several times and were just given excuses and there was nothing done about our complaints of noise. We could not stand another night stay in that environment so we packed up and left a day early. We sent an email expressing our dissatisfaction, however we haven't received any response.Desired Settlement: We would like to be reimbursed for our stay since we complained several times. This trip cost us around $227 which included our site and a boat slip.

Review: River Bay Campground sent me an email regarding the condition of some bedding that was dirty. I had a $150.00 dollar charge billed to my debit card for said bedding. We arrived at the campground at 9:00p.m. on Friday Oct. 2,2015. The office was empty, so we went to the tavern to find the office personnel. The owner was in there, so she came to the office to check us in. We informed her that we had a reservation- made AND CONFIRMED- by email and reserved with a credit card. She told us that they do not check their email. I took out $200.00 cash from the ATM and gave her my credit card number. We went to the cabin, and there was no heater or bedding. She went back to the tavern, asked another patron to bring us a heater and some bedding. What was there waiting for us was some dirty bedding and dirty pillows, along with an old wool blanket and a bed skirt. I have pictures of this. On Oct. 4th,2015 we were billed $379.00 for two nights. Apparently, because our initial reservation was "not available", we were charged for an eight person cabin (there were three of us) even though several other cabins were empty. On Oct.8th,2015 I received this email: This letter is to inform you that you have been billed for damages from your recent stay in a super standard cabin. The cabin was left in very bad shape. We had to throw away 2 pillows and all bedding. As you know, we do not normally supply bedding. You showed up late in the evening with no reservation. Since you did not have bedding you were given blankets, sheets, etc to use at no additional fee. Unforturnately the bedding, blankets and 2 pillows had to be thrown away. This is not acceptable. Your name has been tagged in our system in the event you attempt to book a cabin in the future.

Super Standard

Charge for damages during your stay $150.00

I was charged $529.00 for two nights at a campground with closed amenities and filthy bathroom facilities. The bedding that I was charged for didn't belong at a rummage sale to begin with. We cleaned the cabin and the floors, as well as removing the trash from the campsite that was not cleaned up from the last guests. I sent two emails to the campground- replying to theirs (ironic, as they don't use email) before making this complaint. I have received no responses to date. I have photographic evidence of said bedding and cabin conditionsDesired Settlement: $150.00 unsubstantiated claim removed from my card, and reimbursement for not honoring our reservation then upgrading to excessive lodging accommodations.
