Hi [redacted] , This is my side of the storyI bid $2,as part of a larger project installing a paver patio, steps, etcon removing a sunken apron at the [redacted] 's houseThe bid included digging down along the foundation in front of the garage and installing water proofing between garage floor and foundationThere was a huge gap between the garage floor and foundation so I spray foamed that as wellThen I installed a heavy coat of water proofing tar I also installed a rubber liner in front of thatI poured new concrete with rebar All of this was my best guess at how to fix the issue without being able to see underground or underneath their garage floor After the first heavy rain storm Nichole called me and said the water was coming in their space under the garage worse than before I startedEven though I found that difficult to believe and impossible to prove one way or the other, I then came back and installed a heavy duty sealer silicon between garage floor and new apronI explained to them that there was frost in the ground and I might have to re apply in the springI received a phone call from Dan saying that it was still leaking and they wanted all of their money backWithout even the chance to re apply new heavy duty sealer this springI even spoke with one of their friends who is a contractor and he said there might not be a boot under the garage floorIf this is true, then nothing I could have done would fix the issueThe water could be coming off their cars or from anywhere? I obviously can't see underground when I bid jobsAlso if the house wasn't built properly which it sounds like is the case, there is nothing that I could have done to fix this issue short of tearing apart their entire garageHow is it then fair I refund all the money? I had over $in labor and material in the front apron repairThey are also asking for $1,of their money back on two drain tiles I installed on the side of the garage which are working fine and moving water away from the side of their houseThey needed a new apron regardless of the leak issue and this is perfectly in place, I did offer to replace the apron once they get the issue fixed, but they did not want to take me up on that, they just want their moneyWhen this conflict came up, I offered to refund them $of the money so they could put that towards the larger fix of the problem(My thinking was that this was more than generous being that I completed all of my work above and beyond what the original bid was and the problem with their garage was more than what they...or I...thought it was.) They would not accept that and stated that they wanted $back or they would see me in Small Claims Court I then received this notice from the Revdex.com, with whom I have ZERO complaints after 15+ years of working and an A+ rating All of my work is word of mouth, I have never done any sort of advertising My clients are my friends, family and I have NEVER worked for people like the [redacted] s I wish their was an "Angie's List" for people who not to work for, they would be at the top of the list From my many discussions with Nichole (she spent lots of time talking to me while I was on the job), it sounds like they have been down this road beforeShe had complaints about nearly every contractor she has worked with from the small businesses like me all the way up to [redacted] Construction

Hi [redacted], This is my side of the story. I bid $2,700.00 as part of a larger project installing a paver patio, steps, etc. on removing a sunken apron at the [redacted]'s house. The bid included digging down along the foundation in front of the garage  and installing water proofing between garage...

floor and foundation. There was a huge gap between the garage floor and foundation so I spray foamed that as well. Then I installed a heavy coat of water proofing tar.  I also installed a rubber liner in front of that. I poured new concrete with rebar.  All of this was my best guess at how to fix the issue without being able to see underground or underneath their garage floor.  After the first heavy rain storm Nichole called me and said the water was coming in their space under the garage worse than before I started. Even though I found that difficult to believe and impossible to prove one way or the other, I then came back and installed a heavy duty sealer silicon between garage floor and new apron. I explained to them that there was frost in the ground and I might have to re apply in the spring. I received a phone call from Dan saying that it was still leaking and they wanted all of their money back... Without even the chance to re apply new heavy duty sealer this spring. I even spoke with one of their friends who is a contractor and he said there might not be a boot under the garage floor. If this is true, then nothing I could have done would fix the issue. The water could be coming off their cars or from anywhere? I obviously can't see underground when I bid jobs. Also if the house wasn't built properly which it sounds like is the case, there is nothing that I could have done to fix this issue short of tearing apart their entire garage. How is it then fair I refund all the money? I had over $2000 in labor and material in the front apron repair. They are also asking for $1,100.00 of their money back on two drain tiles I installed on the side of the garage which are working fine and moving water away from the side of their house. They needed a new apron regardless of the leak issue and this is perfectly in place, I did offer to replace the apron once they get the issue fixed, but they did not want to take me up on that, they just want their money. When this conflict came up, I offered to refund them $1000 of the money so they could put that towards the larger fix of the problem. (My thinking was that this was more than generous being that I completed all of my work above and beyond what the original bid was and the problem with their garage was more than what they...or I...thought it was.)  They would not accept that and stated that they wanted $3850.00 back or they would see me in Small Claims Court.  I then received this notice from the Revdex.com, with whom I have ZERO complaints after 15+ years of working and an A+ rating.  All of my work is word of mouth, I have never done any sort of advertising.  My clients are my friends, family and I have NEVER worked for people like the [redacted]s.  I wish their was an "Angie's List" for people who not to work for, they would be at the top of the list.  From my many discussions with Nichole (she spent lots of time talking to me while I was on the job), it sounds like they have been down this road before. She had complaints about nearly every contractor she has worked with from the small businesses like me all the way up to [redacted] Construction.
